Introduction
This instruction manual is mainly to introduce the JMF series of malt crusher features,
main purpose and scope of use, safety precautions, the structure and work principle,
main performance and technical specifications, machine installation, lubrication,
inspection and operation and matters needing attention, the main component, structure
and adjustment, the grinding roller maintenance and disassembly and replacement,
troubleshooting methods, packaging and transportation, accessories and other details
using informal language and illustrations. It is necessary technical information for users
and servicemen, it can also be used for reference by management personnel related to
equipment.

1.2 Important Information
Use the JMF series of malt crusher only in accordance with the instruction manual,
requirement to operate, and in accordance with the provisions of the plate mill to choose
power. Users are not allowed to arbitrarily raise the spindle speed, otherwise the
manufacturer will not be responsible for the damage. Users must comply with the
manufacturer's specified operation and repair instructions, and only use special
accessories made by Shandong Double Win Agriculture and Animal Husbandry
Machinery Co., Ltd. All repairs should follow the manual. Only with the correct use and
timely maintenance conditions can the machine work reliably for a long-time. Before
using the JMF series of malt mills, users should seriously study the instruction manual
and follow the instructions for use and advice. Users must consider the corresponding
preventive measures and other safety provisions. The manufacturer will not be
responsible for the damage caused by changing the equipment by users without
permission.

1.4 Main Application and usable range
JMF series of malt crusher, is the latest product that is designed and developed by
Shandong Academy of Agricultural Machinery Science in the long-term basis of roller
mill research, using advanced technology. The machine has the advantages of small
size, high yield, reliable performance, energy saving, durable and convenient
maintenance etc.
The equipment is mainly applicable to the production of beer malt and pharmaceutical,
monosodium glutamate and other manufacturers. Also suitable for urban and rural small
feed mill pulverizing forage use.
1.5 The use of environmental conditions
Crusher work site should be spacious, well ventilated, and leave enough space and
egress, with reliable fire extinguishing equipment. Depending on the size of the mill
room your fire inspector may require an explosion proof motor.
2. Safety precautions
2.1 Safety rules
In order to prevent accidents, please observe the following safety rules
● Operating pulverizer must strictly abide by the provisions of the prevention of
accidents
● Mill transport must be horizontal, firmly fixed.
● The operation of this machine is strictly prohibited to minors and pregnant
women.
● Before operating the machine, check the key parts of the connections are secure,
ensure that all controls are at the stop position. This will help prevent an
unexpected accident on start-up.
● Before using this product, Operators must carefully read the instructions, and
must be trained in safe procedures.
● It is not allowed to replace substandard wiring in the electrical system. Wiring
must be solid and reliable, fuse capacity should meet the requirements.
● If Welding repair is needed the mill must be disconnected from power.
● Do not start the machine when the protective cover is not installed. When the
machine is working, don't open or remove the cover.

● Don't wear large or open clothes while operating the machine to avoid clothing
getting caught in the moving parts.
● Operators should inspect the unit and the operating area to ensure safety before
they start the mill.
● If the operator finds an abnormal circumstance, the operator should immediately
stop to inspect, it is strictly prohibited to eliminate the fault while the machine is
still connected to power.
● Do not put your hand into the gap of the grinding roller! When the feed mouth is
jammed, don't use the hands or sticks to help feed.
● The machine can be cleaned with tools like a brush to clean up. Make sure no
iron, stones and other debris are in the pulverizing material.
● Don't remove the cover on the side of the housing and the transmission wheel
when the mill is in operation!
● When repairing the equipment, only remove cover or when the machine is
stopped, after maintenance the cover shall immediately be re installed.

Special reminder
● Safety alert symbol + warning + safety precautions and safety signs that must be
followed, otherwise may cause personal injury or machine failure.
● Operating personnel must be trained, and obtain the certificate before operating.
● Before using the mill, the operator must read the instructions carefully,
understand and master the content, and strictly abide by the safety regulations.
● The safety mark must be kept clean, if the mark is damaged or lost, it must be
ordered and labeled once again.
● It is not allowed to convert the mill privately, or it may cause performance
degradation, mill damage or danger.
Garment Safety
● While operating the machine, the operator is not allowed to wear large or open clothes,
or the clothes might be caught by the mashine and cause injury.
● It is prohibited to wear a headscarf, scarves, neckties or wearing a tie towel at the waist.
● It is prohibited to wear open toed shoes.
Safety inspection and repair
● When this machine needs to be repaired by electric welding, it should be stopped
and the power should be cut off.

● This machine should only be repaired by qualified personnel.
● It is forbidden to lubricate, repair and adjust when the machine is running,
● Feet, hands and clothes should be kept at a distance from driven parts.
Periodic inspection and adjustment
● The reliability of the transmission system and adjustment system should be
checked often, you should repair them timely if you find some exceptional
conditions.
● The reliability of protective cover and the fixed bolt of bearing block should be
checked often, you should fasten them when you find them loosen.
● The reliability of the electric system should be checked often to avoid short
circuits.
● The performance of the machine should be checked often, this machine should
be repaired in a timely manner when a failure occurs, running and working with
problems is strictly forbidden.
Nameplate of products
The nameplate of products is the important valid identifying, the place of the nameplate
should be on the front panel. The service people will check the nameplate when you
accept their services, please keep the nameplate clear without losing it.
Inspection before running machine
● When the operator has ensured that there is no non-operator near the mill, this
machine can be operated after making a start signal.
● It is forbidden to run the mill when the protective cover is not closed, the
protective cover is not allowed to be opened or taken away while running the
machine, and the protective cover should be repaired and replaced timely when it
is damaged.
● When the mill is running, you should ensure that there are not any children and
non-operators near the mill.
● You should check and replace the worn-out or broken parts in a timely manner,
and the oil contamination of sediments and impurities should be cleared
promptly.
Understand the Signs
Three sign words stand for the degree of risk: Danger, Warning, Attention

Danger: Danger means if not avoided, will lead to death or serious injury.
Warning: Warning means potential danger, if not avoided, will lead to death or
serious injury.
Attention: Attention means potential danger
2.2 safety sign and its post position
Warning
● The information conferred by a safety sign refers to personal safety, the operator
must execute strictly.
● Safety signs must be kept clear, if lost or unclear, should be replaced promptly
● When changing new parts within the maintenance period, the safety sign should
be changed. Different machine types require a little difference in the position and
content of the safety sign. Please take the material object as the standard.

3. Main Structure and Working Principle
3.1 Main Structure

3.2 Working Principle
The raw unprocessed grains enter into the feed hopper after removing impurities (such
as stone, sand and metals etc, ensure the water content no more than 12.5%). By the
weight of raw grains and slight vibration of the machine, the raw grains enter into the
space between two rollers, then being extruded and rolling grinded, the product is
discharged by the discharge hopper.

1. 4-pole motor, the speed is 1400 RPM.
2. The power should be configured appropriately, the speed of the fast roller
shouldn't be increased at will.
5. The installation and use of the machine
5.1 The installation of the machine
This machine should be installed steady, and should be fixed on the concrete pier by
foundation bolts. The motor and machine should be properly grounded, to prevent
electrocution. All electric appliances should be installed by a professional electrician.

5.2 The lubrication of machine

2) The lubrication of other parts
All the frictional parts should be lubricated by a little machine oil regularly
5.3 Inspection of the machine
All the parts of a new machine have been installed correctly before it leaves the factory,
and the gap and size have been adjusted to the correct position. So there is no need to
make adjustments by users except for special conditions. According to the following
steps, the user can check and review whether there is damage and/or missing parts.
1) Inspection before running the machine
a. You should check the tightness of the drive belt and the reliability of the protective
cover, and check whether there are any loose fasteners .
b. Check the lubrication of the above parts.
c. Check the gap of mill rolls is consistent from end to end. Put the 60g/m^2 (16 Bond)
paper into the space between two rollers, turn the fast roller to pass through the paper.
Then you can calculate the evenness of the interval between two mill rollers by
observing the distribution of indentation. Measure three times, and take the average. If
the length of paper is 100mm, and the width of paper is 0.9 times the length of mill roll,
you can make adjustments automatically by turning the hand wheel and observing the
indicator.
Inspection of No-load rotation
a. Running the motor to check the rotation direction of the belt pulley is correct, and
check if the rotation speed can meet the requirement.
b. Check whether there are knocking sound and other unusual conditions.
c. Check whether the bearing and other parts are under the normal running status
d. No-loading check should be done at least 30 minutes.

5.4 The operation of machine
a. In order to ensure the raw material can't fall into the crushing cavity at will, you should
close the gap of the feed hopper.
b. Start the motor.
c. Put the raw material into the feeding hopper.
d. Adjust the knob of the adjusting plate slowly, check whether the crush degree can
meet your requirements. You can fix the hand wheel when the crush degree of raw
material can meet your requirement by using the lock nuts.
e. After the end of work, the machine should be run at an idling condition for 1 min to 2
min. The machine should not be stopped until the materials that remain inside the
machine are fully discharged.
f. After the end of the work every day, you should clear away the residue inside the
machine, and keep the body of the machine and the environment around the machine
clear and free of dust.
You should pay attention to the following points when you adjust and operate the
machine:
1) Before running the machine, you should confirm that the motor is grounded
reliably. And you should check all the parts and ensure there are not any unusual
conditions.
2) When you hear an unusual sound during operation, the machine should be shut
down and checked immediately.
3) During operation, you should follow all the safety regulations of the state and local
authorities.
4) Only the brushes and similar products can be used to clean the inner part of the
machine, please don't put your hand into the space between the mill rollers.
You should pay attention to the following points during milling the raw material
1) It is strictly forbidden to take off the outer cover and the protective cover on the
transmission gears between the mill rollers
2) It is strictly forbidden to put your hand into the space between the two mill rollers!
5.5 Notices
a. You must strictly remember that you should put the raw material into the feeding
hopper after starting the machine.

b. There must not be any iron nails, metal blocks, hard rocks in the raw materials, the
raw material must ensure clean.
c. In order to prevent the rollers from quick wear, the roller should be separated by
turning the hand wheel after finishing grinding.
6. The adjustment of the main parts
In order to keep the mill in a serviceable condition and extend the service life, you
should regularly make adjustments and maintain the mill. The operator should be
familiar with the concepts and the procedure to adjust and maintain the complete
machine and it’s parts.
6.1 The adjustment of flow (please check table 1)
Because the crushing degree is different, the gap of feeding hopper can be adjusted to
ensure uniform feeding at any time. The method of adjusting the flow is to revolve the
knob on the regulating mechanism. The width of the feed opening will change when you
revolve the knob, and the inflow volume of raw material is likely to change. When you
need to adjust the flow, the adjustment of the gap between the rollers also should be
adjusted at the same time.
6.2 The adjustment of the gap between the rollers (please check table 1)
1) The initial adjustment before running the machine
The gap between mill rollers should be adjusted to 0.4-0.8mm before the whole
machine leaves the factory. If there is a little change during shipping, the user can check
the gap by visual inspection, or check the gap with a feeler gauge. If the gap is
inconsistent, you can loosen the locknut, and rotate the left and the right hand wheel
according to the rotation direction identification. You can fasten the locknut when the
gap between the rollers is consistent.
2) The adjustment after running the machine
After running the machine, put the 60g/m2 paper into the space between two rollers,
and turn the fast roller to pass the paper through. Then you can calculate the evenness
of the interval between the two mill rolls by observing the distribution of indentation.
Measure three times, and take the average. The length of paper is 100mm, and the
width of paper is 0.9 times the length of mill roll. You can tighten the nut if the
unevenness of the interval is too large. Turning the left and right hand wheel according
to the indication of the handwheel dial and the rotating direction identity . Keep the
uniform evenness, then put the raw material into the feeding hopper. Rotating the

adjusting mechanism of the adjusting plate according to the size of the final products.
Revolving the left and the right hand wheel while adjusting the flow control knob.
Adjusting the interval between the mill roller, and the smaller interval is adjusted, the
smaller size of final products you will get.
Notes: The left and the right hand wheel should be adjusted at the same time, and
they should have the same number of the circles, or the interval on both sides of
the mill roller will not be uniform.
You can fasten the locknut to enter the normal working state when the size of the final
products meets your requirements. In order to adjust the machine quickly, you can write
down the data for your reference.
Regarding 4 roller, 6 roller and 8 roller combination malt crushers, they have the same
adjustment method as the 2 rollers malt machine.
6.3 The adjustment of wallboard (Please check table 1)
Wooden or Nylon wallboard is installed on the inner wall of the crushing cavity on both
sides of the mill rollers, to prevent the raw material from leaking from both ends of the
rollers. When the diameter of the mill rollers becomes too small, you should loosen the
clamp nut of the wallboard, and move down the wallboard. You can fasten the clamp nut
if there is no raw material left in both ends of the rollers.
7. The maintenance, replacement and demounting of the mill
roller
The correct installation, maintenance and diagnosis of the mill rollers will increase the
performance and service life of the mill, it also can save cost and manpower at the
same time. After using the ginder for a period of time, you will need to maintain and
adjust the mill according to the following methods.
7.1 The teardown of the mill roller
mill roller removal and installation.
a. Remove protective cover, V-belt and V-pulley
b. Remove the small and big wheel gears
c. Remove the adjusting mechanism.
d. Open the bearing block and remove the mill rollers
Notice: You should check the steel wire rope which is used to

hoist the roller carefully before you change the roller, you should check whether there
are damages or twists in the steel wire rope
7.2 The installation of the mill roller
The installation steps are the exact opposite of the above disassembly steps. Before
reassembly, you should clean the surface of the parts, lubricate the bearing and check
the V-belt for damage, and ensure the roller rotates smoothly. Check whether there is
dust and/or impurities on the mill roller bearing block, as unnecessary debris has a
strong impact on the grinding efficiency.
7.3 The maintenance of the mill rollers
a. The purpose of clean raw material is to take away the impurities, such as stone, sand
and metals, it is also an important step to maintain the mill roller effectively.
b. The uniform material flow is important for the balance of the mill machine, so the
clean raw material and the uniform feeding are the important premises of maintaining
the mill roller.
c. Please don't knock and destroy the journal when you carry, install and disassemble
the mill roller. Please don't roll the mill roller on the ground or slab, because the teeth of
the roller can be flattened by the weight of the mill roller. The mill roller can be loaded by
car or crane, stand-by rollers should be put on the shelf off the ground, to prevent the
surface of the roller from damage.
7.4 Cleaning the mill rollers
Keeping the mill rollers clean is very important, you should keep the surface of the mill
rollers clean when you grind raw material, a mill brush is usually used to clean the mill
rollers. The most common material for a mill brush is short and hard Nylon fiber .You
should keep enough pressure on the brush to clean the mill roller.
Check before starting maintenance:
1) The power should be shut down before you repair and maintain the mill.
2) Ensure the mill is clean after finishing work
3) Only add lubricating oil and lubricating oil replacement after stopping the mill and it is
clean of product.

8. Attention
A. Closing force should not be too much, it should be light and even, so as not to
damage the parts.
B. Do not allow nails, metal, hard rock mixed with abrasives to enter the mill.
C. It is strictly prohibited to idle the mill to the closed position thereby air grinding the
rollers, the hopper should be ready with a small amount of material and the gate opened
in a timely manner.
D. If the wear plate in the mill is damaged, you may order from your local distribution

E. This machine mainly is designed to crush malted material. When grinding corn, there
is a need for a coarse grinding roller; it can also be used to remove the germ and then
crush into a fine powder as a processing method.
F. This machine cannot not process soybean and high oil content material.
9. Common Malfunctions and Troubleshooting
Problem: Productivity is not up to the requirements.
Reason
