SAFETY INFORMATION
Responsibilities of the Owner
As the owner of this vehicle, you are responsible for the safe and proper
operation of this vehicle. This is a high performance vehicle and safe use is
dependent upon the practice of safe driving technique as well as the expertise
of the driver. It is highly recommended that every owner should:
• Obtain instructions from a competent source on all aspects of the
operation of this high performance vehicle.
• Observe the warnings and maintenance requirements contained within this
Owner’s Manual.
• Obtain qualified training in safe and proper driving techniques, applicable
to high performance vehicles.
• Know your own limits and skill level. Driving safely within your own limits
may help you to avoid an accident.
• Take particular care when driving on wet or slippery surfaces.
Important Safety Warnings
Always ensure that the car is in a roadworthy condition. It is the
responsibility of the driver to ensure that the vehicle is in a proper
and roadworthy condition.
The driver and passenger must be seated correctly and should ensure that
all safety restraints are used properly and are free from obstructions.
Check that tyres are in good condition with no excessive wear or damage.
Ensure windows and mirrors are clear and positioned correctly before driving.
Ensure that doors, bonnets and hood (when fitted) are fastened/shut correctly.
Check all lights and signalling devices are operating correctly before use.
ALWAYS WEAR A SEAT BELT. Wearing a seat belt will dramatically reduce
the risk of injury or death in the event of an accident. Always ensure that the
driver and any passengers travelling in the vehicle always wear a seat belt.
Plus Line Owner’s Handbook - Version 1.0 13
Occupant Safety
WARNING Occupants requiring additional seating aids should not travel
in the vehicle.
WARNING The airbags in this vehicle cannot be deactivated whilst the
engine is running.
WARNING Never use a rear-facing child seat in this vehicle. In some
countries, it is illegal to use a rear-facing child seat without deactivating the
airbag which is not possible in this vehicle.
WARNING Morgan Motor Company does not recommend the use of any
child seat of the Universal Category nor any booster seat in this vehicle by
children or persons of small stature.
Harmful Substances
Exhaust gases contain carbon monoxide (CO). This gas cannot be seen, has
no odour and exposure to the gas can cause unconsciousness or death. If it is
suspected that exhaust gases are entering the cockpit of the car do not drive
the car until a Morgan engineer has rectified the fault. Never park in a confined
space with the engine running without adequate ventilation.
Engine System
DO NOT use the car if a fuel leak is suspected. Ensure that a Morgan
engineer or service agent repairs the fault before starting or using the
vehicle. Leaking fuel may cause fires or explosions.
DO NOT tamper with the electrical system.
DO NOT touch or approach the engine bay when the engine is running.
DO NOT touch or approach any part of a hot exhaust system. Failure to
comply with this may result in injury.
If the engine malfunctions in any way, The EML symbol will show on the
LCD screen. Morgan recommends that the fault is diagnosed and
repaired by a Morgan engineer before using the vehicle. Failure to react
appropriately to any engine management faults may result in permanent
damage to the engine. Continuing to drive the car with an engine misfire
could cause the catalytic converter to overheat, with possible heat damage
to other car components, and an engine bay fire.
It is recommended that any work to be performed on the vehicle should be
undertaken by a Morgan service agent.
Electrical Equipment
Morgan does not recommend installing any non-approved electronic
systems that emit radio frequencies. Such items include electronic
garage door activation and similar devices.
Inertia Switch
The safety inertia switch is designed to operate on impact, typified by car
collision, to switch off the fuel pump, and thus minimize any fire hazard.
SAFETY INFORMATION
14
SAFETY INFORMATION
Airbag Operation
Your Morgan is fitted with a passenger airbag (within the dashboard) and a driver
airbag (within the steering wheel). The airbags are designed to deploy during
moderate to severe frontal impact / vehicle crash. The airbags inflate within
thousandths of a second to provide protection to the occupant(s) and deflate on
contact with the occupant(s), enabling the driver to maintain forward visibility and
the ability to manoeuvre or operate other controls. The airbags are not designed
to deploy during a minor frontal crash, rear crash, side crash or a vehicle rollover.
These airbags cannot be deactivated.
When the airbag inflates, there is a chemical reaction which quickly fills the
airbags with non-toxic gas. A fully inflated airbag, in combination with a properly
worn seat belt, slows the driver’s or the passenger’s forward motion, reducing
the risk of head and chest injury. Deployment of the airbags produce a loud noise
releasing a ‘white smoke’ and residue along with a non-toxic gas. This does not
indicate a fire. This smoke may remain inside the vehicle for some time, and may
cause some minor irritation to the eyes, skin or breathing. Be sure to wash off
any residue with soap and water as soon as possible to prevent any potential skin
irritation. Exit the vehicle as soon as possible after the accident.
WARNING NEVER use a rearward facing child restraint on a seat
protected by an ACTIVE AIRBAG in front of it, DEATH or SERIOUS
INJURY to the CHILD can occur.
WARNING If deployed, airbags present a risk to children and persons of
short stature using seating aids. Therefore, such persons should not travel
in this vehicle.
WARNING The seat belts and airbags are a connected system. Without
seat belt usage, the airbags cannot provide adequate protection during an
accident. Vehicle occupants should always wear seat belts.
WARNING Do not place objects or equipment on or near the
dashboard or steering wheel that may come into contact with the
deployed airbags. Failure to follow these instructions may increase the risk
of serious personal injury in the event of airbag deployment during crash.
WARNING If the seat belt tongue is engaged in the seat belt buckle of the
passenger seat whilst the passenger seat is NOT occupied then the airbag
may be deployed unnecessarily.
WARNING Do not attempt to service, repair, or modify the airbags
or associated components. Work to the airbag system should be only
completed by a Morgan engineer or Morgan service agent. Failure to
follow this instruction could result in serious personal injury or death.
WARNING Do not use sharp objects near where the airbags are fitted.
This could damage the airbags or cause accidental deployment. Failure to
follow this instruction could result in serious personal injury or death.
WARNING If the airbag has deployed, it will not function again. Ensure
that the system and associated components are inspected by a Morgan
engineer or Morgan service agent as soon as possible. Failure to follow
this instruction could result in serious personal injury or death.
AIRBAG
The vehicle has an airbag
warning label located on the
sun visors. This warning label
is displayed in compliance
with regulations.
Plus Line Owner’s Handbook - Version 1.0 15
Electronic Stability Control (ESC)
Your Morgan is fitted with Electronic Stability Control (ESC), a safety feature
to improve driving stability. The system detects potentially dangerous driving
situations, such as oversteering, understeering or wheels spinning, and applies
braking and reduces engine torque. This helps, within the limits imposed by the
natural laws of physics, to keep the vehicle under control.
The ESC button is located on the passenger side of the gear selector / gear
lever on the centre tunnel. To enter ESC Sport mode, press the ESC button. To
enter ESC Off mode, press and hold the ESC button for at least one second. To
return to ESC On mode, press the ESC button again.
SAFETY INFORMATION
Electronic Stability Control (ESC) continues on the next page.
The airbag warning light on the LED Warning Bar will illuminate briefly when
the ignition is turned on and then disappear. The airbag warning light will
illuminate and stay illuminated when there is an issue with the airbag(s). When
this warning light shows, the airbags are deactivated and they will not deploy. If
the warning light shows, pull over and stop driving as soon as it is safe to do so.
The vehicle must not be driven and should be inspected by a Morgan engineer
or service agent.
Please refer to “LED Warning Bar” on page 27 for information on the airbag
warning symbol.
WARNING It is recommended that seat occupants should adjust their
seats as far back as reasonably possible and always sit upright against the
seatbacks with seat belts worn properly. This reduces the risk of serious
or fatal injuries in the event of an airbag deploying. Never put your feet on
the dashboard and never attach anything to the dashboard over or near
areas around an airbag. No objects, people or pets should be placed
between the occupant and the airbag.
WARNING In the event of an airbag deploying, it cannot be guaranteed
that there will not be injuries to the occupant(s), even if the safety
warnings are observed.
WARNING Whilst the ignition is turned off, the airbag is deactivated.
Continue to follow the safety warnings on this page during this time.
WARNING Modifying the vehicle suspension can be dangerous. If the
vehicle’s suspension is modified, the vehicle may be unable to accurately
detect a collision and may cause the airbags to malfunction. Failure to
follow this instruction could result in serious personal injury or death.

The ESC features 3 modes:
ESC ON: After every ignition cycle the system will default to ESC On.
When the ESC activates, the ESC warning symbol on the LED
warning bar will flash.

disarm the engine immobilisation system. The vehicle can only be started with
a key containing the correct chip corresponding to the correct vehicle. The

door from outside the vehicle, insert the ignition key into the lock and rotate anti-
clockwise until the stop is reached, then remove the key. The door is now unlocked.

Seats
The seats in your vehicle are adjustable. Adjustments include fore/aft, rake angle
and lumbar support. Seats should be adjusted to suit the occupant before driving.
To adjust the fore/aft position of the seats, raise the lever located under
the front of the seat. This will allow the seat to slide fore/aft. Once in the
desired position release the lever and the seat will be engaged in position. It is
important to check that the seat is engaged fully in position by attempting to
slide the seat fore/aft without touching the lever.
To adjust the rake angle of the seat, sit in the seat and operate the lever to the
side of the seat base. Any attempt to engage the rake angle lever without sitting
in the seat could result in injury. Please note, the Standard Comfort Seat has a
different rake lever to the one shown in the image opposite.
Back support can be adjusted to provide different pressure, depending on the
level of firmness required.
In the Comfort Plus Seat (image opposite), to increase firmness of the back
section and the side bolsters, squeeze the rubber hand pump furthest away
from the centre tunnel. Press and hold the left valve button below the hand
bulb to decrease pressure in the side bolsters. Press and hold the right button to
decrease pressure in the back section. To increase firmness of the thigh support,
squeeze the rubber hand pump closest to the centre tunnel. Press and hold the
valve button below the hand bulb to decrease pressure in the side bolsters.
In the standard Comfort Seat, back support (lumbar) can be adjusted. To
increase firmness, squeeze the rubber hand pump. Press the single valve button
below the hand bulb to decrease pressure
WARNING Do not adjust the seat position whilst the engine is running.
WARNING Ensure that no objects can be trapped when the seats are
