if operating in speed ranges above the
maximumallowable.
NEVERtiptheenginetoextremeanglesduringliftingas
itmaycauseoiltogravitateintothecylinderhead,making
theenginestartdifficult.
Wetstackingisacommonproblemwithdieselengines
which are operated for extended periods with light or
noloadapplied.Whenadieselengineoperateswithout
sufficientload(lessthan40%oftheratedoutput),itwill
not operateat itsoptimumtemperature.Thiswill allow
unburned fuel to accumulate in the exhaust system,
which can foul the fuel injectors, engine valves and
exhaust system, including turbochargers, and reduce
theoperatingperformance.
Inorderforadieselenginetooperateatpeakefficiency,
itmustbeabletoprovidefuelandairintheproperratio
andatahighenoughenginetemperaturefortheengine
tocompletelyburnallofthefuel.
Wet stacking does not usually cause any permanent
damage and can be alleviated if additional load is
appliedtorelievethecondition.It canreducethesystem
performance and increase maintenance. Applying an
increasing load over a period of time until the excess
fuel is burned off and the systemcapacity is reached
usuallycan repair thecondition.This cantake several
hourstoburnofftheaccumulatedunburnedfuel.
State Health Safety Codes and Public Resources
Codesspecifythatincertainlocations,sparkarresters
mustbeusedoninternal combustionenginesthatuse
hydrocarbonfuels.Asparkarrester isadevicedesigned
to prevent accidental discharge of sparks or flames
fromtheengineexhaust.Spark arrestersare qualified
andrated by theUnitedStatesForest Service for this
purpose. In order to comply with local laws regarding
spark arresters, consult the engine distributor or the
localHealthandSafetyAdministrator.

Checkwithyourlocalcountyorstatesafety

SafetyTowingRegulations,beforetowing
yourlighttower.
In order to reduce the possibility of an accident while
transporting the light tower on public roads, ALWAYS
make surethetrailer that supports thelight tower and
thetowingvehiclearemechanicallysoundandingood
operatingcondition.
ALWAYSshutdownenginebeforetransporting.
Makesurethehitchandcouplingof thetowingvehicle
are rated equal to, or greater than the trailer “gross
vehicleweightrating.”
ALWAYSinspectthehitchandcouplingforwear.NEVER
towatrailerwithdefectivehitches,couplings,chains,etc.
Checkthetireairpressureonbothtowingvehicleand
trailer.Trailertiresshouldbeinflatedto50psicold.
Alsocheckthetiretreadwearonbothvehicles.
ALWAYS make sure the trailer is equipped with
appropriatesafetychains.
ALWAYSproperlyattachtrailer’ssafetychainstotowing
vehicle.
ALWAYSmakesurethevehicleandtrailerdirectional,
backup, brake and trailer lights are connected and
workingproperly.

receptacles during operation. This is

Backfeed to a utilitysystemcan cause electrocution

Decommissioning is a controlled process used to safely

The Multiquip LT6K5 Light Tower is a dedicated general
purpose light tower engineered to provide dependable
lighting for a wide range of applications. This includes
lightingfor constructionsites, industrial locations, special
events,andemergencyconditions.
METALHALIDELAMPS
Thelightingsystemof theLT6K5iscomprisedof 4metal
halide, 1000-watt lamps.These lights provide maximum
illuminationwithtypical lightingcoverageof 5to7acres.
Thelightsare controlledbytwo20ampcircuit breakers.
Eachbreakerwillturnonapairoflights(top/bottom).
ENGINE
TheLT6K5ispoweredbyaTier(4)Kohler,3-cylinder,water
cooled,directinjection,12HPdieselenginethatisequipped
withautomaticshutdownsforlowoilpressure,highcoolant
temperature,andalternatorchargefailure.
STABILITY
Thelighttowermasthasamaximumverticalheightof31.5
feet(9.6meters)andcanberaisedbymeansofamanual
winch.Thetowertensioningsystemisdesignedtoprovide
thenecessarytensiontosafelycontrolthepivotofthetower.
Thelight tower hasawindstabilityof upto65mphwith
outriggersandjackstandsfullydeployedonlevelground.
PANELLIGHT
A panel light automatically illuminates the control panel
when the engine access door is opened (air filter side).
Thisfeatureisconvenientfornightdeployment.

TheLT6K5isequippedwithaGFCIreceptaclelocatedon
thecontrolpanel.Togainaccesstothisreceptacle,liftthe
sidepaneldoorontheairfiltersideofthegenerator.
The GFCI receptacle can supply 230 VAC at 15 amps.
Thisreceptaclecanbeusedforlightpowertoolsorother
similarapplications.
FUELTANK
The 34-gallonfuel tankprovidesupto72.5hoursof run
timewhilerunningat3/4load.
TRAILERDESIGN
Thetrailerdesignof theLT6K5lighttowerwithstandsthe
rigorsofnormalhighwaytowingandjobsiteenvironments.
The trailer isengineered toDOT requirements and is in
compliance to the standards of the National Association
ofTrailerManufacturers(NATM).
BUNDEDSYSTEM
The LT6K5 light tower is designed with a "bunded"
containment system.This system prevents the leakage,
spillingofharmfulcontaminants,fluidsthatcouldbeharmful
totheenvironment.

1. BallHitchCoupler—Attachthetrailer's2-inchcoupler
tothetowingvehicle.Useonlythespecifiedballdiameter
as indicated on your coupler. Use of any other ball
diameterwill createanextremelydangerouscondition
whichcanresult inseparationof thecoupler and ball
orballfailure.
2. TongueJackstand—Usethisjackstandtosupport the
tonguewhenattachingthelighttowertoatowingvehicle.
3. SideMarkerLights—Therearefoursidemarkerlights
locatedonlight tower.Thefront circular lights(tongue
side)areamber.Therearrectangularreflectorsarered.
4. Manual Holder—Containsinformationregardingthe
lighttower.
5. Panel Light —Whenthe cabinet door is raised, the
lightwillautomaticallyturnon.Whenthecabinetdoor

receptacle,enginehourmeter,excitationcapacitorand
circuitbreakers.
7. T-Bar —Allowsthelights tobemountedverticallyor
horizontally.

LEDs, water temperature, air filter, fuel, alternator, oil
