1 Sicherheit
1.1 Sicherheitshinweise
Alle Personen, die mit der Montage, Inbetriebnahme und
Bedienung des Geräts zu tun haben, müssen
- fachlich ausreichend qualifiziert sein und
- diese Betriebsanleitung genau beachten.
Bei Fehlbedienung oder Missbrauch drohen Gefahren für
- Leib und Leben,
- das Gerät und andere Sachwerte des Betreibers und
- die Funktion des Gerätes
In dieser Betriebsanleitung werden drei Arten von Sicher-
heitshinweisen verwendet, um wichtige Informationen
hervorzuheben.
1.2 Bestimmungsgemäße Verwendung
Der MESSKO® Drehspulanzeiger PQ96/PQ144 dient zur ana-
logen Anzeige der Temperatur über einen Pt100-,
einen 4...20mA- oder einen 0...10mA-Eingang.
Vor Inbetriebnahme des Gerätes sind die auf dem Typenschild
und in der Betriebsanleitung angegebenen Grenzwerte in der
Anwendung zu beachten und unbedingt einzuhalten.
1.3 Hinweise für den Betrieb des Gerätes
Die nationalen Unfallverhütungsvorschriften sind vom
Anwender unbedingt einzuhalten.
Es wird besonders darauf hingewiesen, dass das Arbeiten an
aktiven, d.h. berührungsgefährlichen Teilen, nur zulässig ist,
wenn diese Teile spannungsfrei oder gegen direktes Berühren
geschützt sind.
1 Safety
1.1 Safety instructions
All personnel involved in installation, commissioning or
operation of this equipment must:
- be suitably qualified and
- strictly observe these operating instructions.
Improper operation or misuse can lead to
- serious or fatal injury,
- damage to the equipment and other property of the user
- a reduction of equipment functionality.
The safety instructions in this manual are presented in three
different forms to emphasize important information.
1.2 Specified application
The MESSKO® moving coil meter PQ96/PQ144 is used for
analog indication of temperatures via a Pt100, a 4...20mA or
a 0...10mA input.
It is important to read and observe the limit values for
operation indicated on the nameplate and in the operating
instructions prior to commissioning the device.
1.3 Important notes on equipment operation
The user is obliged to comply with the national health and
safety regulations.
It is especially emphasized that works performed to live, i.e.
dangerous-contact components, are permissible only while
these components are either de-energized or protected
against direct contact.

2 Produktbeschreibung
Die Drehspulanzeiger PQ96/PQ144 sind erhältlich mit Ein-
gang Pt100, 4...20mA oder 0...10mA. Das PQ96/PQ144 mit
Eingang Pt100 ist zum direkten Anschluss an einen Wider-
standstemperaturfühler (Pt100 Messwiderstand nach IEC 751)
geeignet. Dieses Instrument kann mit dem Pt100-Ausgang im
ZT-F2.1 und in der Kombi-Hülse verbunden werden. Abhängig
von den äußeren Bedingungen kann das gemessene Signal ca.
50 bis 100m weit übertragen werden.
Für größere Entfernungen empfiehlt sich der Einsatz eines
Pt100-Messumformers wie z.B. Typ Pt-MU, der das Pt100-
Signal in ein proportionales 4...20mA-Signal umsetzt. In die-
sem Fall muss der Drehspulanzeiger PQ96/PQ144 mit einem
4...20mA-Eingang ausgestattet sein.
2 Product Specification
The moving coil meter PQ96/PQ144 is available with input
Pt100, 4...20mA or 0...10mA. The PQ96/PQ144 with input
Pt100 is for direct connection to a resistance temperature
sensor (Pt100 measuring resistance to IEC 751). This instru-
ment is suitable for connection to the Pt100 output which is
prepared in the ZT-F2.1 transformer temperature transmitter
and the combi well. Depending on the ambient conditions the
measured value can be transmitted 50 to 100m.
For greater distances we recommend the addition of a Pt100
signal conditioner like the Pt-MU. In this case the input of
the PQ96/PQ144 must be 4...20mA.

ACHTUNG
Messgeräte sind empfindlich. Bitte deshalb alle Teile vor
Fall, Schlag oder Stoß schützen. Max. Umgebungstempe-
ratur 55 °C beachten.

be protected from being dropped and from knocks and
vibration. Notice the max. ambient temperature 55 °C.

3 Montage 3 Installation

Die in dieser Betriebsanleitung vorgeschriebenen Monta-
gebedingungen müssen strikt eingehalten werden.

Die Drehspulanzeiger PQ96/PQ144 können in Schalttafeln mit
einer Wandstärke bis 6 mm eingebaut werden. Die Maße des
Schalttafelauschnitts entnehmen Sie bitte Bild 2 bzw. 3. Die
Befestigung erfolgt durch Klemmbügel auf den dafür vorge-
sehenen Punkten am Gehäuse des Drehspulanzeigers PQ96/
PQ144.
The moving coil meter PQ96/PQ144 can be installed in
control panels with a wall thickness of up to 6mm. For the
dimensions of the control panel cutout, see figure 2 respec-
tively 3. Shift the mounting bracket on to the casing of the
moving coil meter PQ96/PQ144.

4 Elektrischer Anschluss
4.1 PQ96/PQ144 mit Eingang Pt100
Vor Anschluss ist die Versorgungsspannung zu prüfen. Sie ist
auf der Rückseite (Bild 4 bzw. 5) des Instrumentes aufge-
druckt. Anschlussleitung (bei ausgeschalteter Versorgungs-
spannung) und die Erdung an den Klemmen des Instrumentes
anschließen. Die Schlüsselweite der Klemmenschrauben
beträgt SW7. Stellen Sie sicher, dass die Leitungen in der
richtigen Reihenfolge angeschlossen werden. Die Länge der
Signalleitung zwischen dem PQ96/PQ144 und dem Wider-
standstemperaturfühler (Pt100 Messwiderstand nach IEC 751)
darf, abhängig von den äußeren Bedingungen, max. 100 m
bzw. max. 10 Ωbetragen.
Der Leitungswiderstand einer derart langen Leitung muss für
eine korrekte Anzeige am PQ96/PQ144 wie folgt kompensiert
werden:
• 100ΩWiderstand (±1%) anstelle des Pt100 am Ende der
Signalleitung anschließen.
• Das andere Ende wird entsprechend dem Anschlussbild mit
den Klemmen verbunden, die mit „Pt100“ gekennzeichnet
sind.
• Nach Einschalten der Spannungsversorgung wird der Zeiger
des PQ96/PQ144 am Potentiometer (Bild 4 bzw. Bild 5,
Pos. 1) auf 0 °C justiert.
• Versorgungsspannung abschalten und 100 ΩWiderstand
am Leitungsende abklemmen und den Pt100 wieder
anschließen.
• Versorgungsspannung wieder zuschalten und die Instru-
mentenanzeige prüfen.
4 Electrical Connection
4.1 PQ96/PQ144 with Pt100 input
Check the supply voltage of the PQ96/PQ144. It is printed
on the rear (Fig. 4 respectively 5) of the instrument. Use the
right power for the connection. Connect the power line (with
power off) to the terminals as shown in the wiring diagram
and connect the ground line. The wrench size of the clamping
screw is SW7. Make sure to use the right cable lugs. The
electrical line between the PQ96/PQ144 and the resistance
temperature sensor (Pt100 measuring resistance to IEC 751)
can have a maximum length of 100m or max. 10 Ω.
The resistance of such a long line must be adjusted for accu-
rate indication as follows:
• The adjustment should be done by using a 100 Ωresistor
±1%. Connect this resistor instead of the Pt100 to the end
of the line.
• Connect the other end of the line to the terminals marked
Pt100 as shown in the wiring diagram.
• Switch power on. Watch the pointer and adjust the poten-
tiometer for 0 °C (Fig. 4 respectively Fig. 5, pos. 1.)
• Switch power off. Disconnect the 100 Ωresistor and con-
nect the Pt100 to the end of the line.
• Switch power on and check the indication.

entsprechenden Sicherheitsvorschriften des jeweiligen
Landes unterwiesen wurde, durchgeführt werden.

4 Elektrischer Anschluss/Electrical Connection
ACHTUNG
Die Anschlussklemmen für die Fernanzeige (4...20mA
oder RTD) müssen während der Isolationsprüfung kurz-
geschlossen sein. Die Prüfspannung (max. 500V AC) sollte
graduell erhöht werden.
CAUTION
Terminals for REMOTE INDICATION (4...20mA or RTD)
must be shortcircuit during insulation test and the test
voltage (max. 500V AC) shall be raised gradually.

4.2 PQ96/PQ144 mit Eingang 4...20 mA oder 0...10 mA
In dieser Ausführung ist keine Versorgungsspannung notwen-
dig. Der 4...20 mA- oder 0...10 mA-Strom treibt den Zeiger
direkt an. Auf der Rückseite (Bild 6) des Instrumentes
PQ96/PQ144 sind nur zwei Anschlussbolzen (SW7) für den
Messeingang (4...20 mA oder 0..10 mA) vorhanden. An diesen
wird die Leitung vom Messumformer Pt-MU angeschlossen.
Der Anschlussbolzen für den positiven Stromeingang ist mit
einem „+“ gekennzeichnet. Ein Abgleich ist nicht erforderlich.
5 Prüfung
Überprüfen der angezeigten Temperatur. Diese sollte im
Bereich der Toleranzen des Widerstandstemperaturfühlers
(Pt100 Meßwiderstand nach IEC 751) liegen.
6 Service
Sollte es Schwierigkeiten im Betrieb geben, wenden Sie sich
bitte an unser Werk.
4.2 PQ96/PQ144 with 4...20 mA or 0...10 mA input)
For this version no power supply is required. The current
4...20 mA or 0...10 mA moves the pointer directly. Only
2 terminals (SW7) (Fig. 6) are located on the rear of the
PQ96/PQ144. Connect the line from the measuring trans-
ducer Pt-MU to these terminals. The terminal with the posi-
tive current input is marked "+". No adjustment is required.
5 Testing
Check the indicated temperature. It should be within the
tolerance of the Pt100 (Pt100 measuring resistance acc.
IEC 751).
6 Service
In case of malfunction contact our factory.
