Installation Tools
Before proceeding the assembly, prepare all the necessary tools listed
below:
l A Philips cross-headed screw driver
l Long nose pliers
l An anti-static strap or glove
Note: Wear the anti-static strap or glove before handling the PC
components; otherwise, static electricity could cause damage to the
components.
Screw Types
Three types of screws are provided by MS-6217: Round-headed screw,
Round-headed screw with washer and Hexagonal screw with washer.
Round-headed screw: This type of screw is used to secure
the hard disk and mainboard in the chassis.
Round-headed screw with washer: This type of screw is
used to secure the floppy and CD-ROM drives on the
bracket.
1. Introduction
MS-6217 provides basic chassis architecture for a Micro ATX motherboard.
This manual introduces the MS-6217 product and guides you through the
assembly of a basic computer system including CD-ROM, floppy drive, hard
disk, motherboard and power supply.
Hexagonal screw with washer: This type of screw is used to
secure the keylock on the chassis.

3. Chassis Installation
This section teaches you how to install the system step by step. First,
check if the cables and motherboard are available.
l Device Cables l Micro-ATX Motherboard
Now you are ready to start the installation.
Remove the screws on the rear
side to open the cover. Unscrew and remove the HDD
bracket.

Place the motherboard into the
chassis.
Install the processor and the
CPUFan.
Install the DIMM module(s). Insert the CD-ROM drive into
the chassis. Connect the CD-
ROM cable to IDE2 on the
mainboard.

Leave the HDD bracket aside.
Screw up the motherboard.

Connect the CD-ROM audio
cable to the CD-IN header on
the mainboard
Secure the CD-ROM with
screws. (Users can install
another CD-ROM if any.)
Place the HDD into the
HDD bracket and screw it
up on two sides.
Reinstall the HDD bracket,
screw it up and connect the
HDD cable to IDE1 on the
mainboard.
Insert the floppy disk drive
into the chassis. Screw up the floppy disk
drive and connect its cable
to the motherboard.

Place the power supply into
the chassis.
15 Secure the power supply
with screws.

Connect the power cables
from the power supply to
the motherboard, CD-ROM,
floppy drive and HDD.
17 Connect the case connector
from the Front Panel Bezel
to the JFP1 header on the
mainboard.

To install the keylock, refer
to Installing the Keylock.
Then install the cover.

4. Installing the Keylock
This section describes how to attach a keylock to your chassis so that no
one can open your computer without your permission. This is useful
especially when you want to protect the system components or devices
such as a CD-ROM drive from the possible theft.
Before installing the keylock, make sure the package
includes the keylock (see the right picture). If it is
missing, contact your dealer.
Follow these steps to attach the keylock:
Note: If the cover is already installed, unscrew and remove the cover from
the computer first.
Keylock
Place the keylock on the
appropriate location on the rear
side.
Screw up the keylock to hold it
on place.

Install and screw up the cover. Attach any LOCK you prefer to
the keylock.
