14. Turn Operating Stem until its thrust collar is slightly below the shoulder inside the Bonnet
(see illustration).
15. Install Operating Screw Bearing, engaging lugs in grooves inside Bonnet.
16. Reinstall Hold Down Nut and tighten.
17. Reinstall Operating Nut and Weather Cap and secure with Screw Pin.
18. Replace Upper Stem Seal and lubricate threads on Stem.
19. Replace Bonnet Gasket.
20. Rotate Operating Nut to fully open position, extending Stem Nut.
21. Position assembled Bonnet on top of stem and rotate clockwise as far as possible.
22. Hold Bonnet to prevent it from turning and rotate Operating Nut in closing direction (this lowers
the Bonnet onto the Upper Barrel). Align bolt holes by rotating Bonnet counterclockwise.
Rotate only enough for alignment.
23. With all bolts in Bonnet, turn Operating Nut using the same torque as normally used to close
hydrant. Tighten all Bonnet Bolts and Nuts. To check Bonnet Gasket Seal, open one hose cap
slightly. Open hydrant until barrel lls with water, tighten hose cap, open hydrant fully, check
gasket for leakage, then turn Operating Nut to fully closed position.
