andinotherroomsofthehome.YoudonotneedtobeinthesameroomwiththeMXD‐LTEunitforthe
responsecentertohearyou!TheMXD‐LTEunit’saudiosystemisengineeredtoprovideforanincrease
ofupto83timesthenormalvolume.
Control(Figure2)
TheOn/OffSwitch,ResetandModebuttonsareplacedonthebackoftheMXD‐LTE.Thesetwobuttons,
switchandthebaseunitHELPbuttononthetopoftheunitareusedtoconductrangetests,turnoffthe
MXD‐LTE,pairpersonalhelpbuttons(PHBs)totheMXD‐LTE,andforotheruses.Seepages9‐14.
Two‐WayVoiceCommunications
Afterconnectingtotheresponsecenter,TheMXD‐LTEunitshiftstoavoicecommunicationmode.The
MXD‐LTEusuallyoperatesinduplexmode,whereboththeattendantandyoucantalkatthesametime.
SomeresponsecenterscanalsoplacetheMXD‐LTEinsimplexmodeandswitchtheunitbetween“talk”
and“listen”modes.Simplexmodecangreatlyimprovetheclarityandrangeofcommunications
betweenyouandtheattendantduringcertainsituations.

WaterproofPersonalHelpButton(PHB)(Figure3)
ThePHBmaybewornasanecklaceorabracelet.Bothstylesarewaterproofandshouldbeworninthe
bathtubandshower.ThePHBusesanindicatorlighttodisplaythestatusofitsinternalbattery.While
thePHBisbeingpushed,agreenlightwillindicatethattheinternalbatteryisgood.Aredlightindicates
thattheinternalbatterymaybeweak.
PersonalHelpButtonPerformance
TheMXD‐LTEunitisequippedwithasophisticatedreceiverthatiscarefullymatchedtothePHB.The
MXD‐LTEunitcanreceivesignalsfromthePersonalHelpButtonwhenitisupto600feetawayfromthe
baseunit.
Manual Testing
It is recommended that the unit is tested manually at regular intervals, by pushing the PHB. It is
important to be familiar and comfortable with the MXD-LTE and the monitoring center.

poweroutletthatisnotcontrolledbyalight
switch.(Figure5)
2. Placethepowerswitch,locatedontheback
oftheunit,intothe“I”position.Thestatus
light on the MXD‐LTE will begin to flash
orange.
3. Afterashorttime,thestatuslightlocatedonthe
left edge of the large HELP button will appear
steady green, indicating that the MXD‐LTE is
connected properly, and the cellular radio has
beenactivatedwiththecellularcompany.
4. TesttherangeofthePHBtomakesureitworks
throughout the home and yard. See Testing the
PHB(RangeTestMode),below.
5. InitiatethefirstcalltotheResponseCenterby
pressingthePHBortheHELPbutton.
PleasecontactyourserviceprovideriftheMXD‐
LTEdoesnotconnect.
TestingthePHB(RangeTest)
1. LocatetheMODEbuttononthebackoftheMXD‐LTEandpressitonce(Figure5).
2. TheMXD‐LTEwillannounce“RangeTestMode.”
3. ImmediatelyactivatethePHBbypressingandholdingdownthebutton.Agreenlightwillilluminate
onthePHBandasteadytonewillsoundfromtheMXD‐LTE,aslongasitisdetectingthePHB.
4. WhileactivatingthePHB,walkaroundallareasofthehomeandyard.Listenforgapsinthetone.
Gapsindicate“deadzones”wherethePHBisnotdetected.If“deadzones”aredetected,try
relocatingtheMXD‐LTEand/orcontactyourserviceprovider.
5. TofinishtheRangeTest,stoppressingthePHB.Afterthetonestops,presstheRESETbuttononthe
backoftheMXD‐LTE(Figure5).Theunitwillannouncethe“SystemReady.”

Note:ThemanufacturerrecommendsthattheMXD‐LTEbetestedatleastevery30days.Most
responsecenterswelcomeregulartesting.Attendantsareavailable24hoursadaytohelp.

Note:WhentheMXD‐LTEisremovedfromserviceand/orrelocated,it
isveryimportanttoturnitofftopreservethebatteryandtokeepthe
unitfrominitiatinganyinadvertentalarmswhileintransit.

1. Soft reset: briefly pressing the reset button returns the unit to its normal standby state from an
alarmedstateoranyoftheavailablemodes.
