Concentric Thermostatic
Shower Valve
Instructions
Product code:
A05041
Please keep these instructions for future reference.

Installation Requirements
It is important to ensure that the water supplies to your taps and mixers are connected in accordance with current Water
Regulations and good plumbing practice.
It is Wolseley’s recommendation and good plumbing practice that the supplies of hot and cold water to the products
should be equal (balanced) pressures in order to provide a consistent ow. Supplies should be from a common source.
Either mains or tank fed. If supplies are not equal pressures then non return valves should be tted (not supplied).
This product has been designed to function on all types of water of water systems.
Please note: if a pump is to be installed to boost gravity supplies please refer to the pump manufactures instructions.
The hot and cold inlets for any of the products are hot on the left and cold on the right when viewed from the front of
the tting. It is our recommendation and good plumbing practice that a service valve also should be installed up stream
in the inlet supply lines.
Pipe Connections
IMPORTANT. Before making any inlet pipe connections all supplies MUST be thoroughly ushed to remove any
debris. Failure to do so could result in damage or low ow from the tting.
General Installation Notes
• Care must be taken during installation to prevent any risk of damage to the product or injury to installer.
• Installation must be carried out by a qualied and competent person and in accordance with the instructions supplied.
• Installations must comply with all Local and National Water Authority Regulations and Building/Plumbing
Regulations.
• Ensure that you have read and understood all sections of this manual before installation.
Water Supply Temperature & Pressures
Hot Water Temperature Range Recommended 60-65˚C
Cold Water Temperature Range Recommended 10-15˚C
Operating Pressure:
Minimum: 0.2 Bar
Maximum: 5.0 Bar
This pressure rating is determined by the manufacturer using soft water under test house conditions and may differ
from site conditions.
Always maintain a 10˚C difference between hot system temperature and maximum hot setting of valve.
Hot and Cold Maximum pressure differential should be no more than 2 bars. If this limit is exceeded, t a pressure
reducing valve (not supplied) must be tted to the higher pressure water supply before the mixer valve.
Operating pressures on hot and cold supplies should be kept as even as possible in order to ensure the maximum
efciency of the mixer.
When water pressure is higher than 5 bar a pressure reducing valve (not supplied) must be tted before the mixer.
Flow restrictors (not supplied) can be tted into the wall unions to reduce water consumption on high pressure system.
SAFETY NOTE
Before starting any new installation please check prior to drilling wall that there are no concealed
electrical wires or water supply pipes.
We recommend this is checked with the aid of an electronic detector.
When using power tools please wear eye protection.

Exposed Shower Installation
1. 15mm diameter pipework should be installed and ushed before commencing installation.
Ensure distance of inlet pipe centres is 150 mm and that they protrude 20mm from the wall surface and that
the wall bracket is central. Adjust if required.
2. Place valve body against wall with elbows over pipe ends. Mark position of valve body on wall. Remove valve
body, place wall bracket in centre of marked position and mark position for xing holes. See Fig 1.
Note: the centre distance of two elbow is adjustable, the adjustment dimension is 145-155mm. You can
adjust the centre distance of the elbow ( screw the two elbows clockwise / anticlockwise) as required.
3. See Safety Note. Important - Use appropriate xings suitable for wall type/construction. Drill holes to
suit required xings (Use wall plugs supplied as required).
4. Secure wall bracket to the wall using the wall screws supplied.
5. Fit the ange, xing nuts and copper olives over the inlet pipes.
6. Insert the lters into the elbows.
7. Make sure that the elbows align with the inlet pipes, push valve body to the wall bracket and pipes with the
outlet to the bottom and secure with the two grub screws supplied using a 2.5mm hexagonal key at the same
time. See Fig 2.
Carefully tighten securely the nuts of the elbows using a spanner (not supplied). See Fig 2.
8. Fit Lever to the on/off and ow control handle..
9. Turn on both water supplies and check for leaks.

1. 15mm diameter pipework should be installed and ushed before commencing installation.
(1) Ensure distance of inlet pipe centres is 150 mm and that they protrude 20mm from the inner wall cavity
and that the wall bracket is central. Adjust if required.
(2) Recess depth required 54-75 mm (Please refer to dimensioned diagram).
2. Place valve body against wall with elbows over pipe ends. Mark position of valve body on wall. Remove valve
body, place wall bracket in centre of marked position and mark position for xing holes. See Fig 1.

Carefully tighten securely the nuts of the elbows using a spanner (not supplied). See Fig 2.
8. Connect pipework to outlet of the valve body,
9. Turn on water supply and check for leaks.
10. If watertight, install a cover plate (not suppled) or nish wall surface/tiles leaving sufcient access for future
servicing/maintenance.
Note: The wall plate can be used as a template for the access hole size by placing on the valve and
drawing around the plate and measuring in by 15mm to allow sufcient surface area around the hole
for wall plate xing.
11. When wall surface is completed t the wall plate to the shower valve and up to the wall surface. (Use a
suitable sealant as necessary).
12. Screw lever to on/off ow control handle.

Temperature Setting (To be changed only when essential)
This mixer has been factory set under balanced water pressures with a hot water supply at 65˚C.
When your operating conditions vary signicantly from the above, the temperature of the mixed water may vary
from the setting. In this case, you can set the temperature of the mixer to suit your requirements.
The valve is set to a maximum 45˚C. This can be checked if required using a thermometer. If this temperature is
incorrect, you can reset it by the following:
1. Turn the temperature handle to 38˚C stop position.
2. Remove cap, then the screw, then pull the temperature handle off the spindle.
3. Without removing the limited ring, turn the spindle of thermostatic valve carefully using pliers until the
temperature is at the required level.
4. Test again using a thermometer.
5. When the required temperature is reached, re-t the components, so that the stop will be at your new set
temperature.

Cleaning the Thermostatic Cartridge
1. Before carrying out any maintenance, turn off both water supplies to the shower valve. If unsure contact a
qualied plumber.
2. Remove the cap, screw, temperature handle, then remove the limiter ring. Note: take note of the position of
the limiter ring, they must be re-tted in the same position.
3. Push the buttons of the thermostatic cartridge outward and pull the ow handle forward at the same time.
Please take care not to damage the button during removing the ow handle. See Fig 3.
4. Remove the retaining nut using a suitable spanner, remove and clean the thermostatic cartridge. Rinse
thoroughly under cold water to remove any build up of limescale or debris. Note: Take note of the position of
the thermostatic cartridge, as it must be retted in the same position.
5. If necessary replace the thermostatic cartridge.
6. Re-t the cartridge into the body and tighten the retaining nut using a suitable spanner.
7. Re-t the on/off and ow handle, limiter ring and temperature handle. Tighten the screw and re-t cap to
handle.
Note: The square holes of the ow handle needs to be in alignment with the buttons of the thermostatic
cartridge and push back in place.
