REPLACINGTHEREMOTECONTROLBATTERIES
Slidethecoverofthebatterycompartment[20]open.
Removetheoldbatteriesandinstalltwonew“AAA”batteries(notincluded).Makesureyoumatch
the"+"and"‐"polaritymarkingsinsidethecompartmentwhenyouinstallthebatteries.
Replacethecover.

REMOTECONTROLOPERATION
Tooperatetheunitwiththeremotecontrol,pointtheremotetransmitter[19]
oftheremotecontrolattheIRsensoronthefrontdisplaypaneloftheunit.
Pressthebuttonsontheremotecontroltouseit.Theremoteworksbestata
distanceofnofurtherthan20to23feetandwithin30degreestoeitherside
ofthesensor.Brightsunlightorotherlightingconditionsintheroomcan
interferewiththeremotecontrol.Ifremoteoperationisunsatisfactoryor
stopsworkingentirely,tryusinganewbatteryintheremoteortrydarkening
theroom.
POWERSOURCE
ThisunitisdesignedtooperateonACorDCelectricalsystems.
ACOPERATION
PlugoneendofthepowercordintotheACpowerinputontheunit;plugtheotherendintoa
householdACoutlet.(BatteryoperationwillbedisabledautomaticallywhenACpowerisused).
DCOPERATION
OpentheBATTERYDOOR[26]onthebottomoftheunit.Load8piecesofUM‐1/Dsizebatteries(not
included)intothecompartment,takingcaretomatchthe+/–polaritiesmarkedinsidethe
compartment.
CAUTION:
Removebatteriesiftheyareemptyornotbeingusedforalongperiodof
time.
Batteriescontainchemicalsubstancesandshouldbedisposedofproperly.
Checkyourlocalregulationsbeforethrowingbatteriesinthetrash.
BASICFUNCTION
TURNINGTHEUNITON/OFF
PressthePOWERbutton[18]toturntheunitonoroff.
SETTINGTHEFUNCTIONMODE
Thereare5functionmodes;presstheFUNCTIONbutton[4]tochangemodes.The5modesare:
TUNER:ListentoAMorFMradiobroadcasts.
CD:Playcompactdiscs(CD‐audioorCD‐MP3).
USB:PlayMP3sfromUSBmemorysticks.
BT(Bluetooth®):StreamaudiofromwirelessplayerswithBluetooth®.
AUX:PlayaudiofromdevicesconnectedtotheAUXinputjack.
Thecurrentfunctionmodewillbeshownonthedisplay[19]whenyouturnontheboombox.
ADJUSTINGTHEVOLUME
RotatetheVOLUMEdial[9]ontheunittoincreaseordecreasevolume.Youmayalsousetheremote
controltoadjustthesystemvolume.

EQUALIZER(EQ)FUNCTION
PresstheEQ/LIGHTbutton[8]duringplaybacktochangeequalizerpresets.Thepresetsare:FLAT,
CLASSIC,ROCK,POP,JAZZandDBBS(bassboost).
Chooseapresetthatbestmatchesthestyleofmusicthatisplaying;thepresetshavebeencalibrated
toenhanceyouraudioenjoyment.
ID3(showtag)System
SomeMP3filesareencodedwithinformationsuchasthenameoftheartist,thetitle,andthealbum.
Together,thisinformationiscalledan"ID3tag".
PresstheBAND/ID3button[12]toturntheID3tagdisplayonoroff.WhentheID3tagdisplayison,
theunitwilldisplaytaginformationintheordershownbelow.
HEADPHONEJACK
TouseheadphoneswithyourBoombox,lowerthevolumebeforeconnectingthemtothe3.5mm
headphoneinputjack[11].Onceconnected,slowlyadjustthevolumetoacomfortablelevel.
Thespeakerswillbedisabledwhenheadphonesareconnected.
CAUTION:LISTENINGWITHHEADPHONESATHIGHVOLUMELEVELSMAY
CAUSEPERMANENTHEARINGLOSS.

PressandholdtheEQ/LIGHTbutton[8]toturnthelightsofforon.
RADIOOPERATION
ListentoAMorFMradiobroadcasts.PresstheFUNCTIONbutton[4]untilthedisplay[19]reads
TUNER.
PresstheBAND/ID3button[12]toselecttheAMorFMband.
TooptimizereceptionwhenlisteningtostationsontheFMband,extendthe
telescopicantennatoitsfulllength.TooptimizereceptionforAMbandstations,
gentlymovetheunitaround,orpositiontheunitinanopenplace.
TUNINGTOARADIOSTATION
Ifyouknowthestationfrequencythatyouwanttotunetodirectly:
TunetoastationbyrotatingtheTUNINGdial[17].Thestationfrequencyisshownon
thedisplay[19].
Totunetoapresetstation:
Totunetothenextpresetstation,presstheMEM/DIR/10+button[6].
Totunetothepreviouspreset,presstheMEM/DIR/10–button[5].

AUTOPRESETMEMORY/SCAN
Toscanforstationswithinreceptionrangeandsavethemtopresetmemoryautomatically,pressand
holdthePLAY/PAUSE/PAIRbutton[13].Aftertheunitisfinishedscanning,theunitwillautomatically
tunetopresetnumber1(P01).
MANUALPRESETMEMORYOPERATION
Choosewhichstationstosaveinpresetmemoryinsteadofscanningautomatically.
1. UsetheTUNINGdial[17]totunetothestationthatyouwanttosaveasapreset(e.g.,
93.10).
2. PresstheMEM/P‐MODEbutton[7].“P01”willflashonthedisplaytoindicatethatyou
aresavingthestationasPresetMemory01.(Tochangethepresetmemorynumber,
presstheMEM/DIR/10+[6]orMEM/DIR/10‐[5]buttons.)
3. PresstheMEM/P‐MODEbutton[7]tofinishsavingthestation(e.g.,P01isnowsetto
93.10).
4. Tosaveanotherstation,repeatsteps1to3.Youmaysaveupto20FMstationsand20
AMstations.
CDMODE(CDandMP3Discs)
PlayCDswithaudioorMP3files.PresstheFUNCTIONbutton[4]toselect“CD”mode.
SUPPORTEDDISCFORMATS
ThisunitcanplayalldigitalaudioCD/MP3,finalizeddigitalaudioCD‐Recordable(CD‐R)discs,finalized
digitalaudioCD‐Rewritable(CD‐RW)discs,andCD‐DAformatteddigitalaudioCD/CD‐R/CD‐RWdiscs.
LOADINGADISC
1. PressPUSHTOOPENontheCDdoortoopenit;thedisplay[19]willread“OPEN”.
2. Placethecompactdiscintothetraywiththelabelsidefacingup.
3. ClosetheCDdoor;thedisplaywillflash“TOCREAD”,andthenshowthetotalnumberof
playabletracksonthedisc.Playbackwillstartautomatically.
4. ToremovetheCD,pressthePOWERbutton[18]toturntheunitoff.WaitfortheCDto
stopspinningcompletely!PressPUSHTOOPENontheCDdoortoopenit.Removethe
CDcarefullytakingcaretohandleitbyitssides.
Notes:
1. MakesurethedisciscompletelystoppedbeforeopeningtheCD
door.
2. Toensuregoodsystemperformance,waituntiltheunitreadsthe
disccompletelybeforedoinganythingelse.
3. Ifthediscisunreadableorifnodiscisloadedinthetray,the
displaywillread“NODISC”.
PLAYINGADISC
PlaybackstartsautomaticallyfromTrack1afteracompactdischasbeenloadedandreadbythe
boombox.
Topauseplayback,pressthePLAY/PAUSE/PAIRbutton[13].Thecurrenttracktime
willflashonthedisplay.
Toresumeplayback,pressthePLAY/PAUSE/PAIRbutton[13]again.

Tostopplayback,presstheSTOPbutton[14].
Toskiptracks
PresstheNEXT/FWD[15]orPREV/REV[16]buttonstoskiptothenextorprevioustrack,respectively.
Tracknumbersareshownonthedisplay.
Toscanquicklytoapointinatrack
PressandholdtheNEXT/FWD[15]orPREV/REV[16]buttonstoquicklyscanforwardorinreverse
throughatrack.Thetracktimeisshownonthedisplay.
Toskiptracksquickly(forMP3discs,only)
Toskip10tracksatatime,presstheMEM/DIR/10+button[6]toskipforward10tracks.Pressthe
MEM/DIR/10–button[5]toskipbackwards10tracks.
Toselectadesiredfolder(forMP3discs,only)
Toselectatrackinafolder,pressandholdtheMEM/DIR/10+[6]buttoneachtimetoskiptothenext
folder.PressandholdtheMEM/DIR/10–button[5]toskiptothepreviousfolder.
PROGRAMINGTRACKS
Youcancreateacustomplaylistfromyourdiscwhenplaybackisstopped.Youcanprogramupto20
tracksforaCDdiscand99tracksforanMP3disc
1. Whileplayisstopped,presstheMEM/P‐MODEbutton[7].ThedisplaywillflashPROG
andshow“P01”.
2. UsetheNEXT[15]/PREV[16]buttonstoselectthefirsttracktobesavedtotheprogram
list,thenpresstheMEM/P‐MODEbutton[7]tosave.Thedisplaywillnowshowthe
nextprogramnumber(e.g.,“P02”).
3. Repeatstep2tosavemoretrackstotheprogramlistuntilalltrackshavebeen
programmed.
4. PressthePLAY/PAUSE/PAIRbutton[13]tostartplayingtheprogramlistfromthe
beginning.Thedisplaywillshowwhichtrackiscurrentlyplaying.
5. PresstheSTOPbutton[14]onunittostopprogramplayback.
Tocleartheprogram,opentheCDcompartmentlid,makingsurethatthedischas
stoppedspinningcompletelybeforeyoudoso.
REPEAT/RANDOM/INTROPLAYMODE(P‐MODE)
Tochangetheplaybackmode,presstheMEM/P‐MODEbutton[7]duringplayback;thedisplaywill
showthecurrentplaymode(P‐MODE).Playmodesincluderepeat,random,andintro.
:Repeatthecurrenttrack.
ALL:Repeatalltracks.
DIR:Repeatallofthetracksinthecurrentdirectory/folder(MP3playbackonly).
RAN:Playtracksinrandomorder.
INTRO:Playthefirst10secondsofeachtrack.
Toreturntonormalplayback,presstheMEM/P‐MODEbutton[7]untiltherearenoP‐MODEindicators
onthedisplay.P‐MODEisalsocanceledwhenyoustopplayback.

USBMODE
PlayMP3filesfromUSBmemorysticks.PresstheFUNCTIONbutton[4]toselect“USB”mode.
PLAYINGMP3sFROMUSBMEMORY
1. ConnecttheUSBmemorysticktotheUSBport[3]foundonthetopoftheunit.The
displaywillshowthetotalnumberofplayabletracksontheUSBdevice.Playbackwill
startautomaticallyfromTrack1.
2. Topauseplayback,pressthePLAY/PAUSE/PAIRbutton[13].Thecurrenttracktimewill
flashonthedisplay.Toresumeplayback,pressthePLAY/PAUSE/PAIRbutton[13]
again.
3. Tostopplayback,presstheSTOPbutton[14].
Tolearnmoreaboutprogrammingplaylistsandrepeat/random/introplaybackmodes,pleasereferto
the"CDMODE"sectionofthismanual.

Topreventharmfulinterference,alwaysconnectUSBdevicesdirectlyto
theunit.DonotuseaUSBextensioncabletoconnectUSBdevicestothe
unit.
Bluetooth®MODE
StreamaudiowirelesslyfromplayerswithBluetooth.PresstheFUNCTIONbutton[4]toselect"BT"
(Bluetooth)mode.
WirelessplayerswithBluetoothmayincludelaptops,tablets,smartphones,andmore.Makesurethat
yourplayerhasitsBluetoothradioenabledandthatitissettobediscoverable.
CONNECTINGADEVICEFORTHEFIRSTTIME(PAIRING)
BeforeusingawirelessdevicewithBluetooth,youwillneedtoestablishaconnectionbetweenitand
theBoombox.Thisprocessiscalled"pairing"andyouwillonlyhavetodoitonce.Oncetwodevicesare
paired,theywillautomaticallyconnectwhentheydetecteachother.
1. WhenyousettheBoomboxto"BT"modeanditdoesnotdetectapaireddevice,itwill
automaticallyswitchtopairingmode.(ThebluePAIRindicatorwillblinkwhenthe
boomboxisinpairingmode.)
2. Onyourwirelessdevice,gotoitsBluetoothsettingsmenu.
3. Haveyourwirelessdevice"searchfordevices".Selecttheboombox(NPB‐261)whenitis
found.Enterthepasskey"0000"ifthedeviceasksforone.
4. Whenpairingiscomplete,theboomboxwillemitasofttone,thedisplaywillread"BT"
andthebluePAIRindicatorwilllightasteadyblue.Ifaconnectioncannotbemade,the
PAIRindicatorwillflashonceevery2seconds.(PressthePLAY/PAUSE/PAIRbutton[13]
totryagain.)
TheboomboxwillautomaticallyconnecttoyourwirelessdevicenexttimeaslongasithasBluetooth
enabled,iswithinrange,andissettobevisibletopaireddevices.

AUX‐INMODE
PlayaudiofromdevicesconnectedtotheAUXinputjack.PresstheFUNCTIONbutton[4]toselect
"AUX"mode.
1. Connectyouraudiodevicetothe3.5mmAUXINjack[10]foundonthetopoftheunit
witha3.5mmAUXcable.
2. Setthevolumeleveloftheconnectedaudiodevicetoapproximately80%.Make
additionaladjustmentstothevolumelevelbyturningtheVOLUMEdial[9]oftheunit.
