Boat Manual
As every boat is different we have put together a few hints
as to how it all works.
Below Decks
The Heads
Otherwise known as the toilets or the bathroom. The principles are the same as in your
house, just with a few differences:
•1st rule is, any thing that hasn’t been through your stomach, doesn’t go through
the loo on the yacht or in tavernas. There are bags provided for loo paper and
anything else. The small pipes on the boat and in the tavernas are not designed for
mass loo paper like our loos at home.
•The toilet requires you to pump the water in and out.
•The toilet waste goes into a holding tank. This is to keep the beautiful bays clean.
When in a harbour or a bay you need to have the sea cock (valve) turned off, you
can then open it up the next day when you are at sea. You will be showed the
location of these during your boat briefing.
•Last rule, no paper down the loos!

Shower
The showers on Fleurie are great,
they are powerful and have a good
hot and cold system, the same as
you would find in most houses.
Just turn the crome handle to the
left for hot and right for cold.
Please remember, the water is not
unlimited on a yacht, so try to use
it conservatively. E.g. stopping the
flow while you soap up, or brush
your teeth. You will be able to top
up your tanks in some places and
you have a spare 20ltr container if
you do run out.
When you are finished in the
shower, you will need to hold down
the black button to drain the
water. Hold it down until all the
water has gone, this will pump it
out the side of the boat so make
sure no one is swimming next door.

Gas and the Oven
When you want to make a cup of tea you will need to turn the gas on in two places.
1st place - gas locker 2nd place - cut off switch in plate cupboard
(Vertical=on, horizontal =off)
Lighting the hob Lighting the oven
Press, twist and hold for 5 seconds, Same but at the back of the oven
whilst lighting around the ring.
Electrics
Battery Isolators
These cut the power to your batteries. On Fleurie you have
one Engine Starter Battery, two Domestic Batteries, and
one for the bow thruster.
The only one you need to change daily is the engine starter
battery isolator in the port aft cabin. When you get into
harbour and are happy with your anchor you can turn this
one horizontal (OFF) so the lights, fridges etc. don’t flatten
your engine starter battery.
The only other one you may need to touch is the bow
thruster isolator. If you hold down the bow thruster too
long it will overheat and trip the red isolator on the
starboard side of the forward berth.
The anchor windlass only has a fuse, it has no isolator so if you have trouble with this,
please contact the base manager.

Shore Power
You have a shore power cable in the aft locker. When in a marina like Gouvia, you can plug
this into the shore power box. This means you can use your water heater, battery charger,
microwave and the 220v sockets (black European style plug) which are located all around
the boat by the light switches.
When you are at sea you can use the Inverter to charge phones, laptops and tablets etc.
Please note the inverter is not large enough to power high watt devices like hair
straighteners.
VHF
This is located above the chart table. They operate
by pressing the button on the side of the hand held
microphone, when you want to talk, and then
letting go when you are not speaking.
These are NOT A TOY. Please save conversations
about what is for lunch for when you are in harbour.
Have in mind everyone can hear what is said.
Channel 16 is the emergency channel which
everyone will monitor, including ferries and the
coast guard. You should only use this to call up
people in the case of emergency or to tell them to
switch to another channel i.e. 71 where you can
then talk. 16 is the channel you should use to send
out a Mayday message (which is displayed above the
chart table. This should only to be done in real
emergencies i.e. fire, sinking. The red distress
button also does the same thing. It will send your
position and boat information to the coast guard.
These are the LAST options. Each boat has a boat
phone with No Stress staff numbers. We have access to high speed RIBs and can normally
diagnose most problems over the phone. Channel 69 is the harbour authorities channel for
most of the North Ionian so if you require assistance in a large marina like Gouvia you can
call them. They do not expect you to call in like marinas in the UK.Channel 27 will give a
weather forecast at 0900, 1300 and 1900hrs. Just have a pen and pad ready as they speak
even faster than the UK forcasters!
