Safety Information
Before using the Nytech DS-5200, please ensure that you read
and understand the safety precautions described below. Always
ensure that the camera is operated correctly.
Do not aim the Nytech DS-5200 directly into the sun or other
intense light sources which could damage your eyesight.
Do not try to open the case of the Nytech DS-5200 or attempt to
modify this camera in any way. High-voltage internal components
create the risk of electric shock when exposed. Maintenance and
repairs should be carried out only by authorized service providers.
Do not fire the flash too close to the eyes of animals or people,
especially young children. Eye damage may result. In particular,
remain at least one meter away from infants when using the flash.
Keep the Nytech DS-5200 away from water and other liquids. Do
not use the camera with wet hands. Never use the Nytech
DS-5200 in the rain or snow. Moisture creates the danger of fire
and electric shock.
Keep the Nytech DS-5200 and its accessories out of the reach of
children and animals to prevent accidents or damage to the
camera.
If you notice smoke or a strange odor coming from the Nytech
DS-5200, turn the power off immediately. Call the Nytech
Support for help. Never attempt to repair the camera on your

own.
Use only the original power adapter (the right model for your
country is listed in the specifications at the end of the manual).
Only use this device with the Techcharm NP-40 rechargeable
battery in order to avoid overheating, deformation of the cover,
fire, electric shock and other dangers.
Always separate the power adapter from the mains before you
remove the battery from the charger, before you disconnect the
charger from the power adapter or in case of defects.
Do not incinerate, disassemble or short the battery
Charge the Techcharm NP-40 battery only with the original
Nytech AB-NP40 charger and the AC Adaptor Ktec KSAF B 060
0050 W1 EU (for UK corresponding Ktec KSAF B 060 0050 W1
UK).
ATTENTION: Note regarding separation from mains
To separate the device completely from the mains, the mains
plug has to be pulled from the mains socket. Therefore the
device must be set up in a way that ensures unobstructed
access to the mains socket, so that the mains plug can be pulled
out immediately in the case of an emergency. To eliminate the
danger of fire, the mains plug should, as a rule, be disconnected
from the mains before a long absence, as, for example, during a
vacation.
Before a storm and/or thunderstorm with the danger of lightning
strikes, please separate the device from the mains.
CAUTION: Danger of explosion with improper exchange of
battery/accumulator. Disposal of used batteries/accumulators
must be according to instructions.
Do not short circuit batteries and do not throw them into fire.
Use only the power adapter, charger and rechargeable battery
recommended by the manufacturer.
Non-compliance may cause
fire or explosion.

Installing the Battery Pack
The Nytech DS-5200 is powered by a rechargeable lithium-ion
battery (NP-40).
1. Slide the battery cover open.
2. Install the battery with the
terminal facing inside the camera
and the label facing the back of
the camera.
3. After making sure the battery
pack is properly installed, slide
the battery cover closed.
Low Battery Indicator
A low battery indicator
appears on the LCD screen when
the battery is nearly exhausted.
The battery should be replaced
promptly when the low battery
indicator appears.

Charging the Battery Pack
The battery is not char
g
ed when you purchase the camera. You
need to charge the battery before using the camera.
1. Place the battery pack in the charger
with the label facing up and the terminal
facing the charger lamp.
2. Connect the AC adapter to the charger
and then plug it into a power outlet.
The charger lamp lights red and
battery charging begins. When
charging is completed, the lamp turns
green.
NOTE:
Use only the special Techcharm NP-40 rechargeable
lithium-ion battery to power this camera.
Remove battery from the camera if you will not be using the
camera for a long time.
Normal charging time is about 230 minutes. Charging time
depends on the charging level.
During charging both charger and battery pack become hot:
this is normal.

Inserting a Memory Card
You can use an SD Card or MMC Card with this digital camera.
The memory card slot is located beneath the battery cover,
adjacent to the battery compartment.
1. Be sure that the Nytech DS-5200
is turned off.
2. Slide the battery cover and open
it.
3. Place the card with the label in
the direction of the front of the
camera and the contacts
downwards.
4. Close the battery cover.
To remove the memory card,

press on the edge of the card and
release it. Pull the card out and
close the battery cover.
About Camera Memory
The digital camera is equipped with internal memory. If the
memory card is not inserted in the camera, all images and
movie clips recorded by the camera will be stored in the internal
memory. If the memory card is inserted, images and movie
clips are stored on the memory card. The size of the internal
memory is 25MB.

DCF Protocol
The DCF protocol defines the format for image file data as well
as the directory structure for the memory card. Images that are
taken by a DCF camera can be viewed on DCF-compatible
cameras from other manufacturers.
Setting the Date and Time
When the Nytech DS-5200 is first turned on, the date and time
setting will not be correct. Therefore, before using, be sure to set
date and time.
1. Press the MENU button, using
or to select SETUP ( ) and
press the SET button.
2. Press or to select DATE &
TIME ( )then press or the
SET button to launch the Date &
Time screen.
3. Press or to change the value
of the highlighted field. Press or
to highlight another field.
4. After adjusting the settings, press
the SET button to apply the setting.

NOTE:
If you hold down or , you can change the value quickly.
For printing images with Date & Time, see page 41.
If the batteries are removed for about 48 hours, the Date &
Time setting will be lost. In this case, make these settings again.
Basic Operations
Turning the Power On and Off
1. Press the POWER button to turn
on the camera in the Record
mode. Or you can press the
button to turn on the camera in the
Playback mode.
2. Press the POWER button again to
turn the power off.
Tip:
You can turn on the camera
without the start-up and
operating sound by pressing and
holding the POWER or the
button over 1.5 seconds.

Power Saving Function
When the Nytech DS-5200 power saving function is turned on,
the LCD monitor will automatically turn off in a specified amount
of time after the last function is accessed. Press any button to
turn on the LCD monitor.
The Nytech DS-5200 power will auto shut off after the LCD
monitor has been turned off for 1 minute. Press the POWER or
the button to restore the power.
The Power Save feature does not work in the following
situations:
Connecting the Nytech DS-5200 to a computer or printer
with the USB cable.
During a slide show.
Recording a Video or Audio file.
Playing back a Video or Audio file.

Switching between Record and Playback
You can switch between the Record mode and the Playback
mode in following ways:
In Record mode
Press the MODE button to cycle
through the still image shooting,
voice recording and movie
recording.
Press the button to switch to
the Playback mode.
NOTE:
If you switch to Playback mode,
the lens will retract after
approximately 10 seconds.
In Playback mode
Press the MODE or the button
to switch to the previously used
Record mode.

Using the Menus
Recording Menu / Playback Menu
When a menu screen is displayed, the arrow button and the
SET button are used to make the desired settings.
1. Press the MENU button to display the menu.
The menu displayed depends on whether you are in the
Record mode or the Playback mode.
2. Press or to select a menu item.
3. Press or to change the setting.
In playback menu, press or to select an option, and
then press the SET button to display a confirmation screen
or apply the setting.
4. Press the MENU or the SET button to save the settings and
close the menu.
In playback menu, press the MENU button to close the
menu.
