HPS & Metal halide lamps. The OCL double-ended (DE) HPS lamps are proven to be extremely high in Par output, with
a broader spectrum than traditional HPS lamps and only a 5% loss of light at 10.000 hours in operation.
All of our ballasts come standard with PowerControl™, StartSmart™ and dimming feature.
The OCL X series are the next level in professional xtures, with the ability for central control with the OCL controllers.
With OCL lighting systems “You are in control of the light!”
UNIQUE TECHNOLOGY
• Power Control™: OCL’s Power Control is a software based technology that allows one‐-at-‐a‐-time sequential lamp ignition.
No matter how many OCL ballasts you are running, your lights will ignite one‐-at-‐a‐- time. By utilizing a staggered ignition,
OCL ballasts prevent huge current draws/spikes in your electrical system and is therefore a more ecient means
of lighting your garden.
•Start Smart™ Technology: When the ballast is powered on, OCL ballasts will send a mV signal through the closed circuit
(between ballast and lamp), to determine a variety of dierent factors such as: lamp type, open/short circuits, high/low
temps and thermal issues, ignition failure, over ow current, and end of lamp life.
•World’s Lowest THD%: With an input Total Harmonic Distortion (THD) value of <10% and an output THD% of <12%,
OCL digital ballasts provide the cleanest signal for HID lamps. This provides maximum output, spectral perfection,
and longevity of your equipment.
INSTALLATION
OCL digital ballasts can be positioned universally. The unique design of the heat sink dissipates heat away from the critical
components in the ballast. OCL digital ballasts are designed for use indoors and are sealed against damage by humidity
and dust. When installing your complete xtures, we recommend to use up to 80% maximum load of your breaker
capacity for electrical safety.
LAMP CONNECTIONS
• Never turn on the ballast without the lamp cord and lamp installed.
•Never disconnect the lamp from a live ballast.
•Hot ‐restrike: it is very important to allow the lamp to cool before attempting to reignite.
Please allow 20‐-30 minutes before restarting to avoid damage to the lamp.
•Ensure a snug t when installing lamps.
•Make sure the mogul socket shows no signs of damage or corrosion.
•Conrm that power has been disconnected from the ballast before attempting to change lamps.
COMPATIBLE LAMPS
OCL digital ballasts operate both Metal Halide (MH) and High Pressure Sodium (HPS) lamps. While OCL digital ballasts are
compatible with a majority of brand name lamps, OCL digital lamps are recommended. Our technical engineers tune and
match our light systems together for optimal output and spectral balance. Using a matched OCL system has signicant
benets over unmatched systems in terms of light quality and longevity.
•Please make sure the proper wattage lamp is installed before adjusting ballasts to full power or boost mode.
•OCL digital ballasts have soft‐start integration, ballasts ease up to full draw.
•OCL ballasts utilize soft‐ dimming, power will ease up to full draw. It may take a few minutes for the ballast to dim from
each setting. Visible dimming may not be noticeable to the human eye.
MAINTENANCE
OCL digital ballasts are not self-servicable. Disassembling the ballast will void the warranty. The internal componentry
of the ballast is sealed with a resin to protect the electronics. The aluminum exterior of the ballast can be cleaned with a
damp cloth, however make sure the ballast is disconnected before cleaning. Checking all connections regularly to make
sure that no cables have become loose or show signs of damage.
TROUBLESHOOTING
In case the HID lamp will not start, you can try the possible xes below:
•Lamp is loose in socket
•Incorrect voltage
•Defective or poor wiring
•Poor electrical connections
•Incorrect or damaged lamp
POSSIBLE FIXES OR CORRECTIVE MAINTENANCE:
•Make sure you are using the correct voltage input.

The OCL X series, with extremely powerful and higher PAR output than traditional xtures, ask for a smart controller.
That is why OCL designed the world’s smartest and yet easy to operate lighting controller.
All sensors (TEMP/RH/CO2) can be calibrated, it detects sensor failures and when a connection is not set-up properly a
warning will automatically be displayed.
The OCL DLC 1.1 Smart Lighting and CO2 Controller includes a built-in clock and back-up battery with a 30-year lifetime.
The DLC 1.1 simulates natural growing conditions with the “RISE/FALL” option, allowing plants to gradually warm up
and cool down.
The “AUTO-SAVE TEMP”option senses when indoor temperatures are getting too high and responds by automatically
dimming the connected lamps, thereby reducing or even avoiding environmental stress and crop damage.
The “SHUTDOWN-TEMP” is an extra safety feature that will shut down all lighting in the room when the temperature is not
reducing after the “Auto-Save Temp” has set in. Causes could be a malfunctioning extraction or climate control unit.
A manual resetting of the “SHUTDOWN TEMP” is then required to restart the system.
With the “CO2 SET ppm” option, the controller not only manages the lights but the CO2 generators and cool CO2
installations can be controlled also.
When using an OCL DLC1.1 controller, no additional switch board is required.
With the “AUX BOX”, to be ordered separately, it is possible to connect a dehumidier, extra ventilation or heating.
The “AUX BOX” is equipped with a RJ12 UTP connection and a 16A relay for 3.5KW controlled power.
NEVER BEFORE WAS IT SO SIMPLE TO CREATE THE RIGHT CLIMATE FOR YOUR PLANTS!
