•Thebayonetmountsystemallowsthevalvetobequicklyandeasilyremovedfromthe
suitforroutinemaintenance.Thebayonetmountallowsthevalvetoberemovedanda
blankingpluginstalledfordiveswhenaP‐Valveisnotneeded.
•Thevalve’sbalanceddesignusesatraditionalProtectiveVacuumBreakerValvebacked
withasemipermeablemembrane,anOMS®originalfeature.Themembraneprevents
debrisfromenteringthevalveandfluidfromenteringthesuitintheeventofavalve
failure.
•TheFastLockCapopensandcloseswithasimplequick1/3turnwhenaquickresponse
isneeded,versusthecommontwoormorefullturns.

Installation
MaterialsNeeded
TheinstallationoftheP‐Valvemustbecarriedoutonlyby
authorizedpersons.
Youwillneedthefollowing:
•OMS®P‐valve
•Aquaseal®(Aquaseal®Cotol‐240™Combopack
containsAquaseal®,Cotol‐240™andapplication
brush)(Aquasure®isareplacementinEurope)
•OMS®P‐Valvebodywrenches
•Marker:Wax,Crayon,Chalk
•Punch38mmor1‐1/2inch
•Punchblockorpieceofwood
•Hammer
•60to80gritsandpaper
InstallationProcess
DisassembleP‐Valve(fromtheoutofboxassembly)
1. RotatetheFastLockCapfullyclockwisetothefully
closedpositionandyouwillfeelasolidstop,then
rotatecap1/3ofaturncounter‐clockwise,tillyou
feelastop.Thenpressdownandrotatethecapan
additional1/3counter‐clockwise.Thecapshould
becomeloose.Pullthecapupanditwillcomefree.
Onlyalittleforceisneededtodothis.
2. RemoveP‐Valvebodyfromthebayonetmountring
assembly.Whileholdingthebayonetmountingring
assemblypresstheP‐Valvebodydown,
compressingthespringmechanismandthenrotatethevalvebody90degreesclockwise
orcounterclockwiseandthevalvebodywillcomefree.
3. Unthreadthebayonetmountringassembly
DeterminePositionandConnectionHoseAngleforP‐ValveInstallation
Thisisthemostimportantstepintheprocess;apoorlyplacedP‐Valvewillleadtokinked
connectionhosesandpoorperformance.Aproveninstallationpositionisonthefrontofthe
thigh,slightlyoffsetinwards30‐45degrees.Theinwardrotationisneededbecausethevalve
protrudesandoffsettingitreducessnaggingproblems,howevertoofarinwardsandthevalve
caninterferewithkickingand/orlegmovement.Inaddition,accessibilitytotheFastLockCapis
criticalforthevalve’sproperoperation.
Ideally,thedivershoulddonboththeirdrysuitanddiveweartomakethiscriticalpositioning
decision.First,donthedivewear,allthelayerstheyplantowear.Thefirstdecisioniswhich

thightomountthevalveon,eithertheleftorright.Formenitissimplyhowdoyouwearyour
pants“dressedleft”or“dressedright”?Forwomenitismoreaquestionofpersonalpreference
anddivewearfeatures.Thispreferencedictatesthepreferredthighforvalveplacementand
oncethisdecisionhasbeenmadetherearetwoadditionalfactorstoconsider.Thefirstisthe
positionofthevalveonthethighandthesecondistheplannedroutingoftheconnectiontube
betweenthevalveandtheexternalcatheter.Istheroutingstraightup,sothattheconnection
hosepassesthoughthebaseoftheundergarment’szipperorifroutedatananglesothatitcan
passthoughtheP‐Valveconnectiontubeportsbuiltintotheundergarments.Sometimesthese
portsareupbythebaseand/orthesideofthezipperandothertimestheyarelocatedonthe
thighoftheundergarment.
Tooptimizethesedecisions,itisbesttostartbydressingoutinyourundergarmentandany
otheritemstobewornundertheundergarmentsothattheroutingoftheconnectiontubecan
beestablished.Itiscriticalthattheconnectingtubedoesnotmakeanysharpturnswhichcould
kink,whichcouldrestrictorblockflow.
Aftertheroutingplacementandconnectinghoseanglehasbeendetermined,donthedrysuit
andmarktheP‐Valvepositionwithchalkorawaxmarkingpen.Anadditionalfactortoconsider
isthata“good"positionisalwaysawayfromandnotonaseam.
Cuttheholeinthedrysuit
Themarkedholecanbecutwithscissorsorpunchedwithapunchandhammer.Asharppunch
producesthebestresults.Theidealholediametershouldbe1‐1/2inches(38mm).When
punchingthehole,itisveryimportanttohaveastablepunchingblockontheundersideofthe
layerbeingpunchedthroughtoensurethattheunderlyingsuitmaterialisnotpunchedthrough
ordamagedintheprocess.
Somesuitmaterialsarequiteresilient,thereforeitisrecommendedtohitthepunchwith
severalblows,withoutliftingthepunchbetweenstrikes.Liftingthepunchcanleadtomore
thanoneholeandpartiallypunchedholesdeveloping.
InstallationofBayonetBase
Itemsneeded:BayonetBase,RetainingRingandTools
Turnthedrysuitinsideoutbeforeproceedingwiththeinstallationofthevalvebase.Youwant
thesuitlayingoutinsuchamannerthatyouhaveaccesstobothsidesofthepunchedhole.
Thisneedstobedonesothataproperconnectionhoseanglecanbecontrolled.
Beforefinallymountingthebayonetsystem,thedrysuitandthepartstobeassembledshould
becleanedandfreeofgreaseforbetterapplyingAquaseal®.Cotol240™isidealforcleaning
thesesurfaces.Thesealingsurfacesofthebayonetbasecanbelightlysandedtoimprovethe
bond.Remembertocleanaftersanding.

AfilmofAquaseal®shouldbeappliedtothesealingsurfaceofthebayonetbase.Donotapply
theAquaseal®allthewaytotheouteredgeofthebayonetbase.Applyitabout¼”(6mm)out
fromthethreads.
Placethebayonetbaseinthepunched
holeontheinsideofthesuittakingcareto
adjustthetwoparallellinesonthe
bayonetbasetothedesireddirectionyou
wishtheconnectionhosetoberouted.
Threadthelockingringinplaceonthe
outsideofthesuitandthreadontillhand
tight,allthewhiletakingcarethatthetwo
parallelsurfacesonthebayonetlockin
ringstayaligned.Oncefingertight,usethesuppliedwrenchestosnugtheringsinplace,always
payingattentiontothealignmentofthebayonetlockingring.Wipeupanyexcessadhesive
extrudesfromunderthebayonetlockingring.Itisagoodideatowaitafewhoursbefore
proceedingtothenextstep.Iftheadhesiveshavenotbeenallowedtocurethealignmentof
thebayonetlockingringcouldshift.
InstallingtheP‐ValveBodyandFastLockCap
TheFastLockCapshouldberemovedifyouhavereplacedit.Fromthe
insideofthesuit,alignthetwostraightparallelsideswithvalvebody
withtheparallelstraightsidesofthebayonetmount.Pressinplace
thenrotateclockwiseto90degrees.Onceyoustartrotating,release
thedownwardtensionandvalvebodywilllockinplaceonceitreaches
90degrees.Oncelockedinplacethevalvebodywillnotrotateunless
youapplydownwardpressure.
TurnthesuitrightsideouttoinstalltheFastLockCap.Beforeinstalling
thecapmakesurethespringisstillinplace.Alignthethreeguidepins
withthethreeguidechannelsinthevalvebody.Whilemaintaining
downwardpressure,rotatethecap1/6ofaturnclockwise.Onceastop
hasbeenreached,stoppressingdown.Thecapspringwillpushtheca
upwhichisthenormalopenposition.Tomovetotheclosedposition
continuetorotatethevalve1/3clockwise.
ValveOperation
WhentheFastLockCapisturnedfullyclockwiseandsnugagainststop,
thevalveiscompletelyclosedandinoperable.Nofluidscanbe
dischargedorenterthesuit.Whenthecapisturnedcounterclockwise
approximately1/3ofaturn,thevalveisoperationalandinfully
automaticdivemode.Indivemode,fluidscanbedischargedatwill,but
watercannotre‐enterthevalveduetotheone‐waycheckvalve.The

FastLockCapisonlyclosedintheeventofone‐waycheckvalvefailure.Itisbesttocheckthe
functionoftheP‐Valvesystembeforefullygearingupandenteringthewaterbysimply
urinating.
FailureModes
Inabilitytopassfluidsthroughvalve
•Capisclosed
•ConnectionHoseKinked:Theuseofthenorprenetubinghasdrasticallyreducedthe
likelihoodofakinkedhose.Thevalveisbestpositionedtoavoidsharpbendsinthehose
routingtofurtherreducetheriskofkinking.UseonlyOMS®P‐Valvehoseforany
replacements.
•KinkortwistinCondomCatheter:Thismayoccurintheeventthatthecatheterwasnot
properly/completelyinstalled.Blockagesinflowmaybeduetoasharpbendattheend
ofthecatheter,orarestrictioncreatedbytheadhesivewithinthecatheter.Besureto
followthecatheterinstructionscarefully.
•CheckValveFailure:Debrisordepositscanbuilduponthecheckvalveovertimeand
interferewiththeirfunction.Followingaperiodicmaintenanceandcleaningscheduleis
recommended.

MaintenanceandCleaning
TheOMS®P‐Valve,likeallvalvesusedinscubadiving,musthaveabasicmaintenancecheckon
regularintervals.Ifnotcleanedproperly,organicandinorganicdepositswill,overtime,reduce
thevalve’sabilitytofunctionproperly.Additionally,regularcleaningoftheStreamlineP‐Valve
isessentialinpreventingbacterialgrowththatcouldcontributetoaurinarytractinfection.
SeveralcarefulrinsesoftheP‐Valvewithamildvinegar/watersolutionarerecommendedafter
eachdive.Manyusershavefoundthatalargesqueezebottleorlargeboremedicalsyringe
workswelltointroducethesolutionthroughthecatheterinterface,andflushthevalve
thoroughly.

Toinspectorreplacethemainumbrellavalve,removethecap.Lifttheedgesoftheumbrella
valvetoexposethecenterstem.Graspthestemfirmly,andgentlyworkitfreewithaside‐to‐
siderockingmotion.Toinstallanewumbrellavalve,slipthecenterstemintotheretaininghole
inthemiddleofthevalveface.Applygentlepressuretothecenteroftheumbrellavalve,until
itbecomesfullyseated.Toinspectorreplacethebalancedcheckvalvewithintheinternalvalve
body,useacointounscrewtheretainer.Theduckbillvalvecanthenberemovedfor
inspection/replacement.Whenreinstallingtheretainer,besurenottoover‐tightenthefitting.

materialsand/orcraftsmanshipundernormaldivingusefortwoyearsfromthedateof
purchase,providedpropercareisperformedonallmaterialsasdescribedwithinthismanual.
ShouldyourP‐Valveprovetobedefectiveforanyreasonitwillberepairedorreplaced(at
OMS®discretion)freeofchargeexcludingshippingandhandlingcharges.
