VII. Unplugging Hardware
To protect the data i tegrity, drive has to be removed with followi g procedure.
Windows 2000, XP
1. Make sure that all ru i g applicatio s stored i the exter al drive are quitted.
2. Double click the [safe remove hardware] ico i the taskbar.
3. Select [USB Disk] a d click the [Stop] ico to safely remove the device. (You ca also click first o
[Display] device compo e ts] to show the detailed i formatio of the disk).
4. O ce system prompts the “USB Mass Storage Device ca ow be safely removed from the system”
you ca u plug the USB device.
Note: Do ot u plug or remove the device whe the HDD LED is o or bli ki g.
Windows Vista
1. Make sure that all relative wi dows are closed a d all ru i g applicatio s that are stored o the
exter al drive are quitted.
2. Double click the [safe remove hardware] ico i the taskbar.
3. Select [USB Disk] a d click the [Stop] ico to safely remove the device. (You ca also click first o
[Display] device compo e ts] to show the detailed i formatio of the disk).
