A Spectacular Blend of Quality and Value
Onkyo’s AVX-390 combines the convenience of a full-featured A/V receiver and surround-speaker set with the quality assurance
of one of home cinema’s leading brands. Four HDMI®inputs on the receiver deliver music, movies, and games in better-than-
ever resolution. As well as handling high-def audio from DTS and Dolby, these HDMI inputs let you enjoy 3D video and an Audio
Return Channel from your compatible HDTV. Front-side on the receiver are handy analog audio and video inputs for fuss-free
connection of your game console or camcorder. And on the back is a Universal Port that allows you to hook up peripherals
such as an optional iPod/iPhone dock. The system packs Audyssey audio filters to optimize the sound for your living room, and
user-friendly on-screen menus so you can easily adjust settings without interrupting the action. Rounding out the package are
five precision-matched surround speakers and a powerful subwoofer for deep-impact bass and low-frequency effects.

AVX-390 5.1-CHANNEL HOME CINEMA RECEIVER/SPEAKER PACKAGE
HDMI®Support for 3D Video and Audio
Return Channel
The four HDMI inputs on the AVX-390’s A/V receiver let
you simultaneously connect high-def sources such as a Blu-
ray player, a game console, and a cable/satellite tuner. A
single output then sends a pristine signal to your connected
high-resolution display. The HDMI implementation on this
receiver supports both 3D video and an Audio Return
Channel. 3D video brings exciting possibilities to home
entertainment, with movie, game, and broadcast content on
the increase and 3D-compatible TVs coming to market.
Meanwhile, the Audio Return Channel allows audio content
received directly by your HDTV’s tuner to be sent
“upstream” via HDMI to your A/V receiver, without the
need for a separate S/PDIF audio cable.
Decoding of High-Definition Surround-Sound
Codecs
The AVX-390’s A/V receiver can decode Dolby®TrueHD
and DTS-HD Master Audio™—two lossless formats that
enable delivery of a bit-for-bit soundtrack identical to the
studio master track. These codecs take advantage of the
high data capacity of the Blu-ray Disc format.
Convenient Overlaid On-Screen Display via HDMI
Changing your A/V receiver’s settings is now more seamless
than ever, thanks to nkyo’s overlaid n-Screen Display
(SD) feature. n-screen set-up menus appear overlaid on
the video image you’re watching. This means you can adjust
the settings immediately, without having to switch back and
forth from a blank screen background.
192 kHz/24-Bit TI Burr-Brown DACs Improve
Jitter Performance to Deliver Clearer Sound
High-quality Burr-Brown DACs work to optimize analog
audio performance on the AVX-390’s A/V receiver. These
DACs perform advanced 24-bit signal processing and
support sampling rates of up to 192 kHz, while displaying
high resistance to clock jitter.
Audyssey Technologies to Optimize the istening
Experience
The AVX-390 comes with two sound-enhancing Audyssey
technologies.
(1) Audyssey Dynamic EQ maintains a consistent bass response,
tonal balance, and s rro nd-so nd effect at different vol me levels,
so yo can enjoy the nat ral dynamics of yo r content regardless of
the vol me.
(2) Audyssey Dynamic Volume a tomatically compensates for
vol me fl ct ations in different a dio content—for example, d ring
commercial breaks—while optimizing the dynamic range.
Universal Port for Single-Cable Connection of
Optional Onkyo Dock for iPod/iPhone or DAB+
Radio Tuner
A proprietary Universal Port located on the rear side of
the AVX-390’s A/V receiver lets you connect an optional
UP-A1 Dock for iPod/iPhone or UP-DT1 DAB+ Radio
Tuner. A key advantage of the Universal Port is that it
accepts video and audio signals through the same cable
that sends a power supply from the receiver to the devices.
Net result: more connectivity, less cable clutter.

EX.Bass for Deeper, More Dynamic Bass
nkyo’s proprietary EX.Bass function boosts low-frequency
output at two separate points: 40 Hz and 80 Hz. At low
volumes, EX.Bass creates a deeper, more dynamic bass
sound for your music and movies. When the volume is
turned up high, the boosted bass automatically returns to
normal levels.
Advanced Music Optimizer to Enhance
Compressed Digital Music Files
While MP3 or AAC files may sound fine through the
headphones of your portable digital player, the limitations of
these files can be exposed when played back through a
quality home entertainment system. This is because a
significant amount of high-frequency bit information is lost
during the file-compression process. To counter this, nkyo
has designed the Advanced Music ptimizer to
compensate for lost bit information and improve the quality
of compressed audio signals. This results in a clearer and
more expansive sound. Also included in this technology is a
loudness correction feature that further improves the audio
character of compressed files.
