1. This product is covered by a warranty for a period of one year from the date of purchase.
2. This warranty covers free-of-charge repair for defects judged to be the responsibility of the manufacturer, i.e., defects occurred
while the product is used under normal operating conditions according to descriptions in this manual and notices on the unit label.
3. For free-of-charge repair, contact either your sales representative or our sales office nearby.
4. The following failures will be handled on a fee basis even during the warranty period.
(a) Failures occurring through misuse, mis-operation, or modification
(b) Failures occurring through mishandling (dropping) or transportation
(c) Failures occurring through natural calamities (fires, earthquakes, flooding, and lightening), environmental disruption, or abnormal voltage.

●Meaning of Notations
This manual uses the following notations for safe use of the DS-5000 series Data Station.
These notations indicate the severity of effects if the instructions are not followed.
WARNING
Indicates a hazardous situation that, if not avoided, will result in death or serious injury.

Indicates a hazardous situation that, if not avoided, may result in minor injury or property
damage.
NOTICE
Indicates a hazardous situation that, if not avoided, may result in property damage
including failure of the equipment, system, or facility, but will not result in personal injury.
●Meaning of Symbols
Precautions and notices for danger are given by three different symbols: Attention, Prohibited, and Mandatory.
Each symbol has the following meaning.
Symbol Definition Meaning Example
Attention Indicates a risk of danger if the instruction is not observed.
The pictogram in the symbol specifically indicates a type of danger.
Prohibited Indicates a prohibited action.
The pictogram in or beside the symbol specifically indicates a prohibited

●General Precautions
WARNING
・Do not use this product for the operations involving human lives or requiring a high level
of reliability.
The DS-5000 series Data Station is not intended to be incorporated in the following for
the purpose of control, etc. : facility or equipment involving human lives or requiring a
high level of reliability, such as medical equipment, nuclear facility and equipment,
aerospace equipment, and transportation facility and equipment.
Ono Sokki shall not be responsible for any physical injury, property loss, etc. resulting
from using the Data Station with such facility, equipment or control system.
・Do not use the product if you perceive smoke, abnormal odor or noise.
If you perceive smoke, abnormal odor or noise, turn off the power immediately and
contact your nearest Ono Sokki sales office or the distributor where you purchased the
product. Continuing to use the product while an abnormality occurs may cause fire.
・Do not insert a wire or piece of metal.
Do not insert a foreign object such as wire and piece of metal from the ventilation hole.
There is a risk of electric shock.
CAUTION
・Do not put water or foreign object into the DS-5000 series Data Station.
Do not put a liquid such as water or foreign object such as pin and clip into the DS-5000
series Data Station. There is a risk of fire, electric shock or failure.
If any of them enters the Data Station, turn off the power immediately and contact your
nearest Ono Sokki sales office or the distributor where you purchased the product
without disassembling or uncovering.
●Precautions for Power Supply and Power Cable
WARNING
・Do not hold the power plug with wet hands.
Do not connect or disconnect the power plug with wet hands. There is a risk of electric
shock.
・Do not use an unspecified AC adapter.
Do not use an unspecified AC adapter which is not supplied with the product. There is a
risk of electric shock or fire.

CAUTION
・Do not use an unspecified power supply or cable.
Use the power supply of the specified voltage. Using an unspecified power supply may
cause fire or electric leakage.
Do not install the product in a place where an extension cable is required.
Connecting to the cable incompatible with the power supply specification of the product
may cause fire due to overheat of the cable.
・Avoid loose connection.
Insert the power plug completely. If it is inserted loosely, poor contact may cause heat
generation, resulting in fire.
Accumulated dust or water droplet on the connection part may cause heat generation,
resulting in fire.
・Do not use an unspecified power cable.
Do not use an unspecified power cable which is not supplied with the product. Flowing of
acurrenthigherthantheratingtothepowercablemaycausefire.
・The following actions are prohibited to prevent electric shock or fire due to damage to the
power cable.
Pulling the cable, bending the power cable, twisting the power cable, using the power
cable in a bundled state, pinching the power cable, putting chemicals on the power
cable, placing an object on the power cable, modifying or repairing the power cable,
fixing the power cable using a stapler or the like, and using the damaged power cable
(damaged power cable must be replaced with the power cable of the same standard
immediately)
・For replacement, contact your nearest Ono Sokki sales office or the distributor where
you purchased the product.
・Use the product within the specified voltage range.
Using a voltage outside the specified range may damage the product. Before turning on
the power, be sure to check that the power supply voltage is appropriate.
●Precautions for Installation, Relocation, Storage, and Connection
WARNING
・Use the product within the operating temperature range.
The operating temperature range of the DS-5000 series Data Station is -10 to +50 °C.
Use the product within this range.
・Do not put the product in a place having a rapid change in temperature or exposed to
direct sunlight.
・Do not install the product in an unspecified place.
Do not put the DS-5000 series Data Station in the following places or the places not
specified in this manual.
There is a risk of fire or injury. Dusty place/ damp place such as near a water
heater/ place exposed to direct sunlight/ unstable place

・Do not use an unspecified interface cable.
Use the interface cable specified by Ono Sokki. Before connecting it, check the device
and connector to be connected. Using an unspecified cable or connecting to a wrong
destination may cause fire due to short circuit.
・Avoid the following in handling or connecting the interface cable.
Using the damaged cable connector, stepping on the cable, placing an object on the
cable, using the cable in a loose state, using the damaged cable
●Precautions for Operation
WARNING
・Do not touch the product if you hear thunder.
If thunder is likely to occur, disconnect the power plug from the outlet.
If you hear thunder before disconnecting the power plug, do not touch the product as well
as the cables. There is a risk of fire or electric shock.
・Do not put an object on the DS-5000 series Data Station.
The DS-5000 series Data Station may topple, causing damage to the peripheral
devices.
●Precautions for Maintenance and Handling of Built-in Devices
WARNING
・Do not disassemble, repair or modify the devices.
Never disassemble, repair or modify the devices. It causes not only malfunction of the
DS-5000 series Data Station, but also risk of electric shock or fire.
・Do not handle the devices with the plug inserted.
Before performing maintenance of the devices, turn off the power of the DS-5000 series
Data Station and then disconnect the power plug. Even when the power is turned off,
there is a risk of electric shock if you touch an internal part of the product with the power
cable connected.
・Disconnect the power plug occasionally and wipe off dust and dirt with a dry cloth. If a
water droplet, etc. is attached to the plug with dust accumulated on it, heat generation
and resulting fire may occur.
・Avoid loose connection of cables.
Connect the power cable and interface cable surely. If they are inserted loosely, poor
contact may generate smoke or catch fire.

●Precautions in Case of Power Failure
CAUTION
・When using the system with the AC adapter connected while the DS-0501 Battery Unit
For DS-5000 series is mounted, power is supplied preferentially from the AC adapter.
If the power supply from the AC adapter is stopped due to power failure or other reasons,
the power supply will be switched automatically from the AC adapter to the DS-0501
Battery Unit For DS-5000 series.
・If the power supply is stopped due to power failure or other reasons while the system is
used with the AC adapter ( without the DS-0501 Battery Unit For DS-5000 series) , the
power supply to the main unit is interrupted instantaneously.
If the power supply to the main unit is interrupted instantaneously, wait for recovery from
the power failure without doing anything or supply another power.
●Precautions for Relocation
CAUTION
・When relocating the product, do not hit or rub the protruded parts of the main unit, such
as BNC connector, with a hard object. The parts may be damaged.
・Before touching the terminals such as BNC connector directly, we recommend that you
ground your body.
Static electricity may cause the internal devices to fail or be damaged.
●Precautions for Electromagnetic Environment
CAUTION
・This product is intended to be used in an industrial electromagnetic environment.
・Using the product in a home environment may cause electromagnetic interference.
In this case, the user may be required to take an appropriate measure.

・Not all the commercially available personal computers are guaranteed to be connected.
For example, even when a personal computer meets the conditions for the operation environment,
this system may not operate normally due to the physical shape or influence of other software
installed or peripheral devices.
When you plan to purchase a personal computer to be connected with the DS-5000 series, we
recommend that you contact your nearest Ono Sokki sales office or the distributor where you
purchased the product.
・Note that even when you start the OS ( operating system) specified by Ono Sokki on an OS that is
not specified by Ono Sokki using the compatibility mode, Microsoft® Virtual PC, etc. , the DS-5000
series Data Station will not operate normally.

The following lists show the recommended external HDDs/ SSDs which have been checked by Ono Sokki for
operations.
For recording the data correctly, we recommend to use HDD/ SSD listed below.
If you perform recording for more than 1 hour with 48 channels or more, some HDDs other than listed below cannot

●HDD ( Built-in Type)
To use the built-in type HDD, the external hard disk case is required. It is recommend to use the External Hard Disk
Case LGB-EKU3 ( 3. 5 inches) manufactured by Logitec which has been checked by Ono Sokki for operations.
When using the built-in type HDD, install the HDD to LGB-EKU3 ( 3. 5 inches) , then format the HDD on the personal
computer ( Windows OS) beforehand.
