The Control Hub turns itsel o a ter a while:
To save power the Opalum system will automatically go into sleep mode and later on shut itself off. Sleep mode
is entered after 20 min without any input signal on the selected source. This is indicated by a slowly fading
Control Hub status LED. In sleep mode the power to the speakers is turned off. The system will wake up from
sleep mode if a button on the remote is pressed or audio is played on the selected source.
After two hours in sleep mode the system will shut itself down. The system now needs to be started by using the
remote control.
If the volume is set at full by this two hour shut down will take place. This mode is intended for installations
where the Opalum remote is not used since the volume is controlled by the source. Sleep mode will still be
active.
The Control Hub is on but there is no sound rom the speakers.
•At first, please make sure that the volume setting of the Opalum system is not too low. Also make sure the
volume of the source is raised. If you are using wireless streaming (optional) there may also be a volume
setting in the control point application/player you are using.
•
Volume problem may occur if the remote control is behaving strangely. Please see topic “The Control Hub is
reacting to remote control commands, but the remote control is behaving strangely”.
•Try using the analog RCA input with a known good source if you are experiencing this problem when using
digital sources.
•For digital sources: Make sure the digital S/PDIF format is PCM at 44.1 or 48kHz sample rate. Surround sound
formats such as DTS, Dolby Digital etc. are not supported.
•If this problem occurs when using the coaxial digital input, try using an optical input if your source also has an
optical output (and vice versa).
The sound is not as good as in the store...
We shall always remember that “good” sound is subjective, but here are some tips for a successful setup. To get
the maximum out of your Opalum system please use suitable audio sources. Best performance will be achieved
when using the digital inputs or wireless streaming. Please note that there are differences also among digital
sources, a cheap digital output (for example on a laptop) may not be as good sounding as a studio sound card or
a good CD player. This is especially due when advanced algorithms such as sample rate conversion are engaged.
If you are using lossy compressed audio files (mp3, wma, aac etc.) make sure that the compression is set at a
high bit rate. Please note that online audio sources such as internet radios, streaming videos and services as
Spotify (free version) uses lossy compression not always at top quality.
The geometry of your room will also impact the perceived audio performance. Generally moving the speakers
closer to a wall gives you more bass. If possible, try moving the speakers into different positions to get a feeling
for how the room impacts the sound. Not only the room geometry is of importance but also the room fitting. A
naked room with hard concrete/marble floor/walls will sound harsh while decorated the sound will be much
softer. When wall mounting the speakers the hardness of the wall will also impact the sound.
