Step 4 – Replacing the Heater Component

Firmlyholdthewhiteconnectorattachedtothelargercircuit
boardwithonehandwhileusingtheotherhandtopullthe
plugoutinordertopreventthewhiteconnectorfrombecom-
ingdetachedfromthelargercircuitboardwhenpullingoutthe
heatercable(Figure 4).

Remove the two screws holding the heater component in
place(Figure 5)andattachreplacementheatercomponent
usingsamescrewsandthenplugheatercableintowhitecon-
nectoroncircuitboard(Figure 4).
NOTE: The replacement heater holes may need to be
cleared using a screwdriver to remove any material from
holes.
Step 5 – Re-Installation of Camera Bracket
to Base
Usethe4screwstore-attachcamerabracketbackontobase
(Figure 3).
WARNING: Since the heater becomes hot to the touch
in cold climates, care must be taken to ensure that the
internal wires do not come into contact with the heater
to avoid accidental melting and damage to internal
wires. Wires should be held down with the original cable
fastener (Figure 6) and the lens cable wrapped around
the camera to keep it away from the heater.

Step 6 – Re-Installation of the RS-232
Circuit Board
For AllSky II units check that the thicker camera cable is
wrappedbehindthelargercircuitboardandnotfreetomove
nearheater.Aftercheckingthatallwireshavebeensecured
away from the heater the small circuit board can now be
reattachedusingthetwosmallwashersandscrews(Figure 2).
Step 7 – Re-Installation of the Dome Bubble
Carefullylineupthegrooveontheinsideofthedomecover
withthenotchonthebaseandgentlyallowthecovertodrop
intoplace.Thedomecovershouldnowbeseatedevenlyand
allfourscrewslinedupreadyforinstallation.
Usingtheallenkey,gentlytighteneachscrewuntilasmallbit
ofresistanceisfelt,thenmoveontothenextscrew.Repeatfor
allscrews.Nexttighteneachscrewmorefirmlyandevenlyto
helpensureaweatherproofseal.
Please use the replacement DC and RCA cable to avoid
issues when heater turns on in cold conditions.
