1. Description and Operation
A. General
(1) Purpose
(a) The RC100 is the smallest and most basic version of the remote control panels that are
compatible with the KANNAD Emergency Locator Transmitter (ELT). It is specially intended
for general aviation and its small dimensions also make it suitable for airline cabin
installations or cockpit retrofit.
(b) The RC150 is a variant of the RC100. This version has a more rugged toggle switch.
(c) The RC100 and RC150 permit remote control of the primary functions of the KANNAD ELTs
(Manual activation, Reset, Test, Monitoring).

(a) The RC100 and RC150 are made of:
1A self adhesive front plate (black with white inscriptions).
2A three-position toggle switch with two locking positions and its red protective cap
(RC150 only).

4An adhesive label (production marking) bonded on the cable bundle near the switch. It
gives this information:
- Part Number, P/N.
- Amendment, AMDT.
- Serial Number, S/N.
- Number of evolution since the production release (1, 2, 3, 4).
- Control status (V, D, C, CF).
(b) The RC100 / RC150 name plate is bonded on the rear of the switch. It gives this information:

C. Operation
Refer to Figure 3 / 25-63-20-991-03-1 Three-Position Toggle Switch
(1) The RC100 and RC150 permit remote control and remote monitoring of the KANNAD ELTs if the
ELT switch is in the "ARM" position.
(a) Remote control functions are done through a three-position switch:
- "ON" permits manual activation of the the ELT.
- "ARMED" is an idle position. Unlesss there is an emergency, the switch must stay in
this position (on the ground and during flight).
- "RESET / TEST" is used either to stop the ELT transmission if activated before or to
do a self-test.
(b) Monitoring is done through a red LED:
- 2 Hz pulsed signal during ELT transmission on 121.5 and 243 MHz.
- One long flash during ELT transmission on 406 MHz (at 50-second intervals).
- One short flash at the stary of the self-test sequence.
- 3 + N short flashes at the end of the self-test sequence if the ELT is defective (N is in
relation to the type of failure).
- One long flash at the end of the self-test sequence if the ELT is correct.
NOTE: The toggle swich is locked in the "ARMED" and "ON" positions. Self-test is a
momentary position. Pull the lever to unlock.

A. General
Refer to Figure 3 / 25-63-20-991-03-1 Three-Position Toggle Switch, Refer to Table 9001 / 25-63-20-
992-01 : List of Standard Tools
(1) Set the switch to "ARMED" (position b):
- Make sure that the resistance between pins G and A is more than 20 MOhms.
- Make sure that the resistance between pins G and K is more than 20 MOhms.
(2) Set the switch to "ON" (position a):
- Make sure that the resistance between pins G and K is less than 10 Ohms.
(3) Set the switch to "RESET/TEST" (position c):
- Make sure that the resistance between pins G and A is between 7125 Ohms and 7875
Ohms.
(4) Energize the LED with the 9V battery through a 470 Ohms resistor (+ to pin J, - to pin G):
- Make sure that the LED comes on.
(5) Change the polarity (+ to pin G, - to pin J):
- Make sure that the LED comes on.
