Introduction
We congratulate you on the purchase of your
new product. You have chosen a high quality
product. The instructions for use are part of the
product. They contain important information con-
cerning safety, use and disposal. Before using the
product, please familiarise yourself with all of the
safety information and instructions for use. Only
use the unit as described and for the specified ap-
plications. If you pass the product on to anyone
else, please ensure that you also pass on all the
documentation with it.
Intended use
This device is suitable for measuring wood and
building moisture, for example in firewood, paper,
cardboard, mortar, concrete or plaster. The device
is only intended for use in private households, and
not intended for commercial use.

Before using the product, please familiarise your-
self with all the operating and safety instructions.

this product on to others.
Check the device for damage before use. If the
device is damaged do not use it.
Do not expose the device to moisture. Other-
wise the device could be damaged.

his device may be used by children age 8 ye

and up, as well as by persons with reduced
physical, sensory or mental capacities, or
lacking experience and/ or knowledge, so
long as they are supervised or instructed in
the safe use of the device and understand the
associated risks. Children should not be al-
lowed to play with the device. Cleaning and
user maintenance should not be performed
by children without supervision.
The measuring pins are very
sharp. Always be careful when using this de-
vice. Always attach the protective cap to the
device when not in use. Otherwise there is a
risk of injury!
Battery safety
information
DANGER TO LIFE! Batteries
are not intended for children. If accidentally
swallowed seek immediate medical attention.
CAUTION!
EXPLOSION HAZARD!
Never recharge non-rechargeable batteries and
do not short-circuit and/or open any batteries.
Never throw batteries into fire or water.
Do not exert mechanical loads to batteries.

Risk of battery leakage
In the event the batteries leak, remove them
from the device immediately to prevent damage.
Do not let the fluid from a leaking battery come
into contact with your skin, eyes or mucous
membranes. In the event of contact with bat-
tery acid, thoroughly flush the affected area
with clean water and seek immediate medical
attention.
Use only the recommended battery type. Do
not use old and new batteries together.
Avoid extreme environmental conditions and
temperatures, which could affect batteries,
e.g. above radiators/ in direct sunlight.
Remove the batteries from the device if they
have not been used for a long period.
Risk of property damage
Only use the specified battery type!
When inserting the battery ensure the correct
polarity! This is shown in the battery compart-
ment.
If necessary, clean the battery and device con-
tacts before inserting the battery.
Promptly remove used batteries from the product.

Inserting/changing
the battery
If the battery symbol appears in the display

,
the inserted battery is almost drained and must be
replaced. Empty batteries can falsify the measured
result.
To insert the battery proceed as follows:
Open the battery compartment cover on the
back of the device. You can remove the used
battery more easily with the aid of the material
strip, which is inside the battery compartment
6. Just pull on the material strip.
Remove the used battery.
Plug the contacts of the 9V-blockbattery on
the contacts of the profiled plug. Make sure
you fit the batteries the right way round. This
is specified by the profiled shape of the con-
tacts. Also ensure without fail that the material
strip is underneath the battery.
Insert the battery in the battery compartment
and close the cover again, so that it audibly
latches into place.
Start-up
Before you take a
measurement
Ensure that both measuring pins 2touch the
surface of the material at the same time.
Increase the pressure on the measuring pins
for rough surfaces if necessary.
For delicate surfaces complete the measure-
ment on a section that is not in the visible
area.

Note: The measuring pins are sharp and
may dent or damage the surface.
Rub the damp residue on the surface before
taking the measurement.
Measure several places and take an average
value.
Be aware that salts can increase the conduc-
tivity of water. This can lead to incorrect
readings and results that are too high.
Remove the bark from firewood if needed.
Press the measuring pins against the grain in
various places on the wood.
Taking a measurement
Press the button 5to switch on the
moisture measuring device. On the display 7
‚0.0%‘, the surrounding temperature in °C
and the previously selected material (1–6)
appears.
Press the button 4and hold it down for
approximately 5 seconds to switch the tem-
perature display between °C and °F.
If the display does not show ‚0.0 %‘ after
switching it on, you can calibrate the device.
Do this as follows:
Open the battery compartment 6, remove
the batteries and press the RESET button with
a pointed object, this button is on the bottom
of the device in the middle.
Press the MODE button 3again to set the
moisture measuring device to the material
you wish to measure.

Note: When measuring under the measure-
ment range, the display shows ‚0.0%‘ or
‚Lo‘. For measurements above the measure-
ment range, the display shows ‚Hi‘.
Remove the protective cap 1.
Press both measuring pins 2against the
surface at the same time. After 1-2 seconds
you can read the percentage value.
If you are taking a measurement in an area in
which you cannot read the display, press the
button to freeze the result on the display. The
display will then also show the lock symbol.
Press the button again to take another
measurement.
If you have completed your measurement,
switch the moisture measuring device off with
the button. Then reattach the protective cap.
Note: The moisture measuring device
switches itself off automatically if the device is
not used for 60 seconds.
Battery display
If the battery charge status is low, the battery
symbol appears on the display 7. Replace
the battery as quickly as possible if this symbol
appears. Empty batteries can falsify the measured
result. The battery change is described in the
section „Inserting/changing the battery“.
Temperature display
You can change the temperature display between
°C and °F by holding down the button 4for
approximately 5 seconds.

In the event of such malfunctions, remove the
batteries briefly and reinsert them.
Cleaning and Care
Do not allow liquids to enter the device. Oth-
erwise the product may be damaged.
Only clean the device with a slightly damp-
ened cloth and mild washing-up liquid.
Clean the measuring pins with a slightly
dampened cloth and dry it afterwards.

Storage
Always attach the protective cap 1to the
device when not in use.
Always remove the batteries if the device will
not be used for extended periods.
Store the device in a dry location.
Disposal
The packaging is made of environmen-
tally friendly materials, which may be
disposed of through your local recy-
cling facilities.
Contact your local refuse disposal authority for
more details on how to dispose of your worn-out
product.
To help protect the environment, please
dispose of the product properly, and
not in household waste, when it has
reached the end of its useful life. Please
contact your local authority for infor-
mation on collection points and their
opening hours.
Faulty or used batteries must be recycled in
accordance with Directive 2006/66/EC and its

amendments. Please return the batteries and/ or
the device to the available collection points.
Improper disposal of batteries
can harm the environment!
Never dispose of batteries in your household waste.
They may contain toxic heavy metals and are sub-
ject to hazardous waste regulations. The chemical
symbols of the heavy metals are: Cd = cadmium,
Hg = mercury, Pb = lead. Therefore dispose of used
batteries through your municipal collection site.
Warranty
The product has been manufactured to strict qual-
ity guidelines and meticulously examined before
delivery. In the event of product defects you have
legal rights against the retailer of this product.
Your legal rights are not limited in any way by our
warranty detailed below.
The warranty for this product is 3 years from the
date of purchase. Should this product show any
fault in materials or manufacture within 3 years
from the
date
of purchase, we will repair or replace it
– at our
choice – free of charge to you.
The warranty period begins on the date of pur-
chase.
Please keep the original sales receipt in a
safe location.
This document is required as your
proof of purchase. This warranty becomes void if
the product has been damaged or improperly
used or maintained.

parts subject to normal wear, thus possibly consid-
