Operating Instructions
The variable heat control allows for low to high working temperature setting. Before plugging in, make
sure the power switch is in the off position.
When ready to work, set the switch to on and set the variable heat control to the desired temperature
settings. The heat gun will take approximately a minute to reach its operating temperature.
Paint and Varnish Removal
1. Turn on the gun and allow it to reach full heating power. Hold the nozzle 3-4” from the paint to be
removed. After a short time, the paint will soften and begin to blister. Do not overheat the paint,
as this will cause burning and make the paint more difficult to remove. When stripping paint
overhead, always use eye protection.
2. Begin scraping the paint, working from top to bottom. Scrape with smooth, even strokes; warming
the surface in front of the scraper by moving the gun from side to side. If the paint is warmed
properly, even thick layers can be removed in a single pass. Paint should come off it a strip equal in
width to the scraper blade.
3. Clean the edge of the scraper regularly to keep it clean and sharp to prevent paint from building up
on the blade. Scrape the paint as soon as it softens since it will quickly harden again.
4. Shaped or profiles surfaces can be stripped with a wire brush after softening with the hot air jet.
5. Cover all surfaces not to be heated with non-flammable material. Never concentrate the tool’s
heat on a window pane or other glass surface.
Caution: Lead paint fumes are very harmful. Always provide adequate ventilation while working
indoors!
Note:
•Never use the heat gun in combination with chemical strippers.
•Clean dry paint or varnish from the nozzle and scrapers after use. If the nozzle is not clean, there
may be danger of ignition.
•Use only in well ventilated areas. Peelings and residue from lead based paints are poisonous.
Care and Maintenance
Caution: Do not use mineral turpentine, paint thinner, gasoline or similar substances to clean the
heat gun!
•Always allow the heat gun to cool down completely before storage.
•Unplug the tool when not in use.
•Clean out any accumulated dust. Keep the air intake and outlet opening clean.
