2 General Overview
PartnerTech is proud to offer the LM12 series LCD monitor. It offers a versatile solution for
manytypesof applications. Optionsinclude a resistive touchscreen, magnetic card reader as
well asmanytypes offlexible mounting solutions.
2.1 Flat PanelDisplay
Thisflat panel displayfeatures an active matrixTFTLCD screen. It providescrisp, bright, color
imageswith a maximumresolution of800x600 producing a full screen image fromedge to
edge. The 12.1 displayhasa wide viewing angle of up to 45 degrees and a brightnessof
approximately 200 cd/m2 or ’NITS . The displayeasilyinterfaces with your PC via direct VGA
input just as anymonitor would connect. It includesa desktop stand, has an optional wall
mount bracket, and is available with an IvoryorBlackhousing.
2.2 Touchscreen
The LM12 series uses a touchscreen byElo using AccuTouch technology. It wasdesigned
with the harshest environments in mind, so it°s no wonderthat it excelsin reliability, durability,
and expected product life. Impervious to environmental conditions such asliquid spillsand
splashes, humidity, these screens are the most contamination-resistant available. Theydeliver
drift-free operation for a lifetime of 35 million finger touches.
AccuTouch technologyisthe workhorse of resistive touchscreens, providing unsurpassed
performance in POS, industrial, medical, and transportation applications. Touch the screen
with a finger, gloved hand, fingernail, or object such as a credit card, and you°ll receive a fast,
accurate response everytime.
Software driversare included which allow the screen to workwith anymouse driven PC
application in DOS, Windowsor Linux* environments.
(*Driversfor Linux are not included, but are supported)
Important Note:
The Touch Monitor can thustake over the function of both monitor and mouse, although a
normal mouse can still be used in parallel to the Touch Monitor.
2.3 Mounting Options
The LM12 series comesstandard with a desktop base or with an optional bracket using the
VESA standard forother versatile mounting configurations such aswall or pole mounting.
2.4 Modular Magnetic Card Reader
The LM12 series also provides an integrated interface for a magnetic card readerwhich
conforms to the ANSI, ISO, JIS, AAMVA and CDL standards.

3 Contents of packing
Priorto taking into operation your LM12 series monitor, please check whether the following
partsare included and undamaged:

4 Installation of the LM12 Series Monitor
The following steps are necessaryforthe device to function properly:
1 Switch the computer OFF.
2 Connect the LM-12 series monitor to the computer. (For best results, set the computers
screen resolution to 800x600).
3 Switch yourcomputer and the monitor backON.
4 Adjust the displayfor the graphiccard in the computer bymeans ofthe On Screen Display
(OSD) AUTO TUNING feature. This step is important for getting the best picture quality.

5 (Touchscreen MonitorOnly) Install the touchscreen driversforthe corresponding operating
system(chapter4).
Note: The LM12 mustbe used with the power adapter provided.
4.1 Cable Installation
The installation ofthe cables must be done with the computerswitched off.Begin by
connecting the VGA cable, the RS232 cable, audio cable then the powercable.
Once connected, turn the LM12 monitor ON. Afterabout 3 seconds, you should see the LED
on the front panel light up green followed byan image on the screen.
Important Note:
If the computerisin suspend or standbymode the LED will be red. If the SVGA cable
between the Monitor and computer is disconnected, the LED lightsup red.

5 Using the OnScreen Display(OSD)
To adjust the LCD displayon the LM12, you will find fourbuttons centered on the bottomofthe
housing (figure 1). To initiate the On Screen Display(OSD), press the UP arrowbutton, you
will then see the BasicSettings menu appear (figure 2).

The variousmenusand sub-menu options are selected byusing the UP and DOWN arrow
buttons. After making a selection, use the + /- buttons to activate that setting. Once all
adjustments have been made, you can exit the OSD byselecting EXIT and pressing one of
the + / - buttons.

5.1 Basic Settings Menu

The following parameters can be set in theBasicSettings menu.
5.1.1 BRIGHTNESS
Thisselection adjusts the screen brightness. Use the + / - buttons to increase ordecrease the
brightness to a comfortable setting.
5.1.2 CONTRAST
Thisselection adjusts the screen contrast. Use the + /- buttons to increase ordecrease the
contrast to a comfortable setting.
5.1.3 DISPLAY ADJUST

5.1.6 INFORMATION
Thisselection displays the current resolution, horizontal and vertical refresh rates.
5.1.7 RESET
Thisselection displays restoresall settings back tothe factorydefaults.

5.2 Display Adjust Menu

The following parameters can be set in theDisplayAdjust menu.
5.2.1 H.POSITION
Thisselection adjusts the Horizontal screen position using the + /- buttons.
5.2.2 V.POSTION
Thisselection adjusts the Vertical screen position using the + /- buttons.
5.2.3 CLOCK
Thisselection adjusts the Clock speed using the + / - buttons.
5.2.4 PHASE
Thisselection adjusts the Phase using the + /- buttons.
5.2.5 RECALL
Thisselection will recall anypreviouslystoredsettings before anychanges were made.
5.2.6 RETURN
Thisselection returnsto the BasicSettings menu.

5.2.7 AUTO TUNING
Thisselection automaticallyadjusts the screenPOSITION, CLOCK and PHASE.
Important information regarding the AUTO TUNING function.
Most video cardsdiffer as to the video signal output. Forthisreason, theLM12 series
monitor mayneed to be readjusted afterconnecting it to a computer. The factorysetting of
the monitor is set to produce the best resultswith a varietyof industrystandard video cards.
To get the best picture quality, under Windowsit would be best to use theShutdown screen
when activating the AUTO TUNING menu option. Bydoing this, the displaytries to find the
best possible adjustment. Please note that thisAUTO TUNING must be done for each display
mode.
The PHASE option mayalso be used to manually fine tune the picture clarityafterAUTO
TUNE hasbeen done.
In some caseswhen using a notebookcomputer, it might be necessarytodeactivate the
internal displayof the notebookin order to obtain a good picture quality.

5.3 Color Control Menu

The following parameters can be set in theColor Control menu.
5.3.1 USER COLOR MODE
Thisselection allows each ofthe main color parts ofthe picture can be adjusted individually.
Bydoing this, the color tone can be adjusted to a comfortable level.
5.3.2 RECALL
This selection will recall anypreviously stored settings before anychanges were made.
5.3.3 RETURN
Thisselection returnsto the BasicSettings menu.

The following parameters can be set in theOthers menu.
5.4.1 OSD H.POSITION
Thisselection adjusts the On Screen Display(OSD)Horizontal menu position using the + /-
buttons.
5.4.2 OSD V.POSITION
Thisselection adjusts the On Screen Display(OSD)Vertical menu position using the + / -
buttons.
5.4.3 OSD TIMER
Thisoption adjusts the amount oftime the On Screen Display(OSD) will be displayed on the
screen. Thiscan be adjusted byusing the + / - buttons.
5.4.4 POWER SAVE
Thisoption enables/ disables the power saving mode feature.
5.4.5 DITHERING
Thisoption enables/ disables the dithering feature. Dithering isthe simulation ofmore colors
and shades in a palette bycreating a pattern ofdotsout ofexisting colors.
5.4.6 RECALL
Thisoption willrecall anypreviouslystored settingsbefore anychangeswere made.
5.4.7 RETURN
Thisoption returnsto the BasicSettings menu.

6 Driver Installation
6.1 Touchscreen
Important Note:
The LM-12 series monitor with touch capabilitycontainsan integrated AccuTouch serial
controller (E271-2210) communicating at 9600 baud. Normallythis is recognized bythe
setup utility. Ifnot, the adjustment can be made manuallybyrestarting the setup utility. Due
to the different video card signals, it maybe necessaryto re-calibrate the touchscreen each
time the LM-12 is moved to other systems.

6.2 Magnetic Card Reader Setup
The setup utilitycan be found on the installation CD at:
D:\MSR\SETUP.EXE
(Drive D:\ shown above may varyon each system.)
6.3 Diagnostics Utility
The diagnosticprogramCOMDUMP islocated in the path D:\TOUCH\ and must be used in
DOSor command prompt mode.
Usage: COMDUMP <number of COM port 1 or 2> [baud rate]
(Baud rate isoptional).
COMDUMP will displaydata fromthe touchscreen to the selected COM port in hex format.
7 Maintenance and Care
Before cleaning, unplug the main power. For cleaning the housing, use a soft cloth moistened
with a mild cleaning agent. Please make sure that no liquid isrunning overthe rear side into
the housing.

8 Troubleshooting
Manyproblems can be the result of an incorrect or loose cable connection, so please make
sure that all connections are secure.

Note:
Do not ingest the liquid crystal froma broken LCD. Ifyourskin comes into contact with liquid
crystal, wash it with soap immediately.
Please observe the installation instructions before connecting theLM12 series to anydevice.
Due to some high voltage components, it isadvisable to not open the unit, asit maycause
severe electrical shockorburns. All repairwork forthe device should be sent to a qualified
service center.
Do not operate the device without the enclosure. Make sure no objectsorliquids get into the
interior through openings in the housing.
