INTRODUCTION
Overview
The FCB4X is progr mm ble MIDI foot controller th t supports ll st nd rd MIDI devices. This is new
model with more fe tures th t c n be progr mming up to 16 MIDI mess ges nd s ved to EPROM
memory. Up to 128 memory presets c n be rr nged in 32 b nks of 4 presets. You c n ssign ny MIDI
Progr m Ch nge (PC), Continuous Controller mess ges (CC) nd MIDI Note On/Off mess ges into e ch
preset ( ll 16 midi mess ges on different MIDI ch nnels). Displ yed by blue color b cklight 16 ch r cters
x 2 lines LCD with big ch r cter size nd RGB colors LED with independent color progr mm ble. The
FCB4X h s up/down b nk nd 4 p tch selection buttons, ll with high qu lity he vy duty foot switches
th t you c n feel when pressed. The ch ssis is m de of luminum, folded by l ser cutting process nd
finished with bl ck nodized co ting. It is comp ct, rugged, simple to use, fully progr mm ble MIDI
foot controller.
Top Panel
BANK UP/DOWN SWITC : This is used to incre se the b nk up or decre se the b nk down from the
current st te. The current b nk st rts from b nk#1 up to m ximum of
b nk#32. You lso use these switches in progr mming mode to edit
p r meter inside the menu selection.

PRESET SWITC : The FCBX h s 4 p tches in b nk l beled s S1, S2, S3 nd S4. You
lso use these switches in progr mming mode to edit p r meter inside
the menu selection.
BLUE SCREEN LCD: The LCD displ y h s 16 ch r cters x 2 lines showing B nk number, P tch
button nd Preset n me when you re in oper tion mode or displ y
menu when you re in progr mming mode.
RGB LED DISPLAY: This is Red, Green, Blue LED with progr mm ble to illumin te preset
st tus.
Back Panel
EXP1, EXP2: Expression Ped l input1 (EXP1) nd Expression Ped l input2 (EXP2) for extern l
ped l control. You c n ssign ny midi control ch nge mess ge nd ny midi
ch nnel to c ll up both expression ped l inputs rr nge 128 presets (32 b nks x
4 presets)
MIDI OUT: MIDI out port is used to tr nsmit MIDI mess ges from the FCB4X to other MIDI
device/s. It is 7 pin MIDI connector so you c n supply ph ntom power to the
FCB4X by supply volt ge 9V to pin 6, 7 (AC or DC, it does not m tter)
9VDC IN: Connect to supply extern l volt ge 9Vdc with current 100mA minimum (Pol rity
is not import nt)
Note: Do not plug into the extern l power supply socket if you re ph ntom powering the unit vi
MIDI c ble.

Power Connection
The FCB4X h s flexible power requirements between 9Vdc-12Vdc, or 9V c, 100mA. You c n plug in your
power d pter to the 5.5mm/2.1mm b rrel connector.
Do not use voltage over 12Vdc or 9Vac otherwise the unit will be damaged.

BASIC OPERATION
Ple se refer to the text th t ppe rs under the switches when you re going to use the FCB4X unit in the
b sic oper tion mode. On power up, the l test preset will be selected nd tr nsmitted s MIDI mess ge
vi MIDI out (Initi l v lue is B nk#1, preset#1 [01-S1]).
In the oper tion mode the LCD will displ y b nk number, p tch button nd preset n me of the selected
preset.
Bank and Preset selection
Press the BANK UP or BANK DOWN button to move/scroll from the current b nk to nother. The LCD
displ y will fl sh with the number of b nk nd no MIDI mess ge will be tr nsmitted until p tch button
is selected (S1, S2, S3 or S4 button). You c n hold on the BANK UP or BANK DOWN switches to scroll
p st the current b nk continuously nd the LCD displ y will loop once it re ches b nk #32.
You c n select preset by press the S1, S2, S3 or S4 button, The LED bove the selected PATCH button
will illumin te nd the stored MIDI mess ges for th t PATCH will be tr nsmitted.

SETUP MODE AND PRESET PROGRAMMING
Programming Mode Entry
When you supply power to the FCB4X unit it goes in to oper ting mode utom tic lly. If you w nt to
progr m preset then you need to enter progr mming mode by following these steps:
1. Select the preset th t you w nt to configure by using the BANK Up/Down nd PATCH S1-S4
buttons. This me ns you h ve to select the preset you wish to progr m before entering to
progr mming mode.
2. Press both BANK UP nd BANK DOWN buttons together nd hold on until the LCD displ y
shows the ch r cters below. Ple se do not c re if the b nk number is moving, just simply press
BANK UP nd BANK DOWN buttons nd hold both buttons until the LCD displ y shows the
ch r cters below;

4. Now, you c n progr m or configure the selected preset. Ple se refer to the l bel bove e ch
buttons when you h ve entered to progr mming mode.

INC+ : Incre se the current v lue
< LEFT : Move menu to left or scroll the cursor to left
RIG T > : Move menu to right or scroll the cursor to right
SELECT : Select nd enter to the selected menu
BACK : Move b ck nd exit from the selected menu

“SELECT” button or exit from the progr mming mode nd b ck to oper ting mode by pressing
“BACK” button
6. In Progr mming mode, the menu nd sub menu items will show you s the following di gr m;

Setup Mode
Once you h ve entered to progr mming mode, you c n go to setup mode by scroll the menu to ”3)
SETUP” menu, the LCD displ y shows the ch r cters below;
Now you c n enter to setup menu by pressing “SELECT” button, the LCD displ y will move to sub-menu
items. You c n scroll sub-menu to left by pressing “<LEFT” button or scroll sub-menu to right by
pressing “RIG T>” button. If you need to enter to the selected sub-menu, you c n press “SELECT”
button to enter to the selected sub-menu. If you w nt to go b ck to m in menu, you c n press “BACK”
button. It will move b ck to m in menu.
LCD Backlight adjustment
You c n go to djust the LCD displ y b cklight by enter to sub-menu item s following;
Now you c n press “SELECT” button to enter to LCD B cklight sub menu item, the LCD displ y will

LED Intensity adjustment
You c n go to djust the LED intensity by enter to sub-menu item s following;
Now you c n press “SELECT” button to enter to LCD B cklight sub-menu item, the LCD displ y will
show you s the following ch r cters;
All S1 – S4 LEDs will be light on with mixing Red, Blue nd Green colors. You c n press “<LEFT” button
to decre se the LED intensity or press “RIG T>” button to incre se the LED intensity.
You c n ch nge LED color while djust the intensity level by pressing “+INC” or “DEC-” button. The
LED color will be ch nged by mixing the RGB colors. You c n exit from the LED intensity djustment by
pressing “BACK” button. Your setting will be s ved nd the LCD displ y will go b ck to the setup menu.

Expression pedal calibration
You c n c libr tion the Exp#1 or Exp#2 by enter to sub-menu item s following; Ple se be sure you h ve
inserted expression ped l to the Exp#1 or Exp#2 j ck before enter to the c libr tion process. It will be
s ved n incorrect c libr tion d t .
OR
You c n press “SELECT” button to enter to Exp#1 or Exp#2 C libr tion sub-menu item, the LCD
displ y will show you s the following ch r cters;

You h ve to move the Exp#1 or Exp#2 down (heel down) to the position th t you wish to m ke it s

After the FCB4X h s c lcul ted for the heel down position nd lre dy s ved it the memory, the LCD
displ y will show you s following ch r cters;
You h ve to move the Exp#1 or Exp#2 up (heel up) to the position th t you wish to m ke it s highest
position nd w it moment. The FCB4X will be s ved new highest v lue s heel up position.
The lowest v lue is 000 nd the highest v lue is 127. These v lues will be s ved s the heel position th t
you h ve been c libr ted. The LCD displ y will go b ck to the setup menu utom tic lly once the
c libr tion d t h ve been s ved to the memory.
If you w nt to exit or c ncel from the c libr tion process, you c n press “BACK” button. The LCD
displ y will go b ck to the setup menu without s ving c libr tion d t .

Midi device setting
Before progr mming your preset, you h ve to dd your midi devices first. You c n go to midi device
setting by scroll the menu to “2) Midi Device” menu the LCD displ y shows the ch r cters below;
Now you c n enter to midi device menu by pressing “SELECT” button, the LCD displ y will move to sub-
menu items. You c n scroll sub-menu to left by pressing “<LEFT” button or scroll sub-menu to right by
pressing “RIG T>” button. If you need to enter to the selected sub-menu, you c n press “SELECT”
button to enter to the selected sub-menu. If you w nt to go b ck to m in menu, you c n press “BACK”
button. It will move b ck to m in menu.
You c n press “<LEFT” button to scroll down the midi ch nnel setting or press “RIG T>” button to
scroll up the midi ch nnel setting. This is b se on your midi device midi ch nnel setting, you c n s ve the
n me of your midi device to the midi ch nnel. It def ults s the following t ble.

Reg rding to the bove t ble, you c n repl ce n me of your midi device by go the midi ch nnel sub-
menu by pressing “<LEFT” or “RIG T>” button then press “SELECT” button to enter to the selected
midi ch nnel you wish to set. Below is n ex mple to s ve new n me of midi device to midi ch nnel#1.
Once you h ve entered to midi ch nnel#1, the cursor will be fl shing t the n me of midi device
(line#2). You c n repl ce new n me of your midi device m x to 10 ch r cters. You c n move the
cursor to left or right by pressing “<LEFT” or “RIG T>” button nd you c n ch nge ch r cter t the
cursor position by pressing “+INC” or “DEC-” button.
Below is n ex mple to n ming midi device of midi ch nnel#1 to “ABC ch.1”

Preset programming
In the preset progr mming menu, this will expl in how to progr m midi mess ge of the selected preset.
This me ns, you h ve to select preset of the FCB4X before entering to preset progr mming mode.
You c n go to preset progr mming menu by scroll the menu to “1) Preset [BB-SS]” menu the LCD
displ y shows the ch r cters below;
BB is selected b nk nd SS is selected p tch button. All re c lled s selected preset.
If you c me from B nk#1 nd S1 p tch button, this will show s [01-S1] which is selected preset. The
selected preset [01-S1] will show t the preset menu s following;
Everything you did in the preset progr mming will be s ved only for this preset [01-S1]. This me ns, ll

Copy sub-menu will be copied ll progr mming d t of the selected preset to nother preset. The

the destin tion preset is Bank#1 – S4 by pressing “S4” button. The S4 LED will be illumin ted when

Midi Program Change command (PC)
In midi progr m ch nge comm nd (PC), you c n scroll midi progr m ch nge number between 000 – 127
by pressing “-DEC” or “INC+” button. When the midi progr m ch nge number is ch nging, the midi
progr m ch nge comm nd will be tr nsmitted to your midi device b se on the midi ch nnel setting. For
the below setting, midi progr m ch nge comm nd will be tr nsmitted on midi ch nnel#1
Midi Control Change command (CC)
In midi control ch nge comm nd (CC), you c n scroll midi control ch nge number between 000 – 127 by
pressing “-DEC” or “INC+” button. For the midi control ch nge v lue, it c n be progr mming to send
fix v lue between 000 – 127, Toggle.On v lue, Toggle.Off v lue, Toggle v lue, TAP1 v lue or TAP2 v lue.

You c n ch nge the control ch nge v lue by pressing “-DEC” or “INC+” button. The me ning of control
ch nge v lue is;
000 – 127 : midi control ch nge will be tr nsmitted with control ch nge v lue between 000 –
127.
Toggle.On : midi control ch nge will be tr nsmitted with control ch nge v lue 127.
Togle.Off : midi control ch nge will be tr nsmitted with control ch nge v lue 000.
Toggle : midi control ch nge will be tr nsmitted with control ch nge v lue 127 for ON
st te or 000 for OFF st te b se on the current st tus of the control ch nge
number in the memory. New control ch nge v lue will be s ved to the memory.
TAP1 : midi control ch nge will be tr nsmitted with control ch nge v lue 127 every time
when the selected preset button is pressed.
