Electrim TE75 Immersion Heater
Instruct ons for use
Read the fitting instructions below before using the heater. The heater should be sterilised prior to
use.
nce the heater has been placed into the liquid, the power can be connected and switched on. The
neon indicator light inside the tube will illuminate indicating that the element is on. This light will stay
on until the temperature of the liquid and immersion heater have stabilised at the factory set
temperature of approximately 24°c (75°F). Subsequently, the light will cycle on and off with the
element.
In warmer conditions, the heater may stay off for long periods of time, and in temperatures above 25°c
it may be advisable to switch it off and remove it, as the wine or beer will ferment satisfactorily without
additional heat.
If you are fermenting in very warm or cold conditions (below 10°c (50°F) for example), or if your recipe
requires a higher or lower fermenting temperature, it may be necessary to adjust the thermostat to
achieve this.
Before adjusting the factory setting, you should operate the heater for 4 hours to allow the temperature
of the liquid and immersion heater to stabilise. Check the temperature of the liquid with a thermometer.
If it requires adjustment, switch off the power supply and allow the heater to cool for 20 minutes before
removing it from the liquid. Th s s very mportant, as the nternal temperature of the heater can
be very h gh. Remov ng from the l qu d too soon can shatter the glass.
The pointer on the adjustment knob is positioned so that when factory set at 24°c (75°F) it is pointing
towards the cable entry point in the black rubber bung. Taking this setting as the 12 o’clock position,
the knob should be turned clockwise to increase the temperature and anti-clockwise to decrease it.
Please note that only small adjustments are required, as the thermostat is very sensitive. It should be
moved to the 1 o’clock position first to increase the temperature for example and retested before
moving further.
Important: Do not turn the knob more than ½ a turn n e ther d rect on. Fa lure to observe th s
w ll cause permanent damage to the thermostat and nval date the warranty.

The support bung (red in colour) is designed to fit a standard demijohn neck hole of 11/8” diameter. It
is important that in any application the following points are followed:
1. The minimum immersion depth is 18cm. This means that the neon light inside the tube should be
below the surface of the liquid. If the heater does not reach the level of liquid in your particular
vessel, lengthen the distance between the bung and tube by sliding it along the cable. The ideal
position for the heater is just above the sediment in the bottom the vessel, subject to a maximum
immersion depth of 40cm.
2. When used in a plastic fermenting vessel, the glass tube should not be allowed to come into contact
with it.
3. To function correctly, the heater should be as close to vertical as possible.
4. It is strongly recommended that the heater is connected to the mains supply via an RCD circuit
breaker.
