Regulations
It is important to ensure that the water supplies to your shower are connected in accordance with the water
regulations (WRAS) requirements and good plumbing practice.
It is Pegler’s recommendation and good plumbing practice that the supplies of hot and cold water to the
shower valve should be equal (Balanced) pressure in order to provide a consistent flow. Supplies should be
from a common source, either mains or tank fed. If supplies are not equal pressures then a Non Return
Valve (801 Non Return Valve) should be fitted.
Bylaw 17(2) B
The Shower head of any shower hose pipe should be fitted with a fixing or sliding attachment so that it can
only be discharges at a point not less that 25mm above the spill over level of the bath tray or fixed appliance

TIDAL 4S4022 INTRODUCTION:
All Pegler thermostatic showers are designed to ensure a stable showering temperature during showering
when other outlets in the system are being used eg : washing machine or basin tap etc. The shower valves
will close down in the event of cold-water failure reducing the risk of scalding. These shower valves are also
designed from rugged engineering materials to give you years of trouble free service and are backed by the
Pegler Customcare Promise.
WATER REGULATIONS REQUIREMENTS:
It is important to ensure that the water supplies to your shower valve are connected in accordance with the
water regulations (WRAS) requirements and good plumbing practice.
It is Pegler’s recommendation and good plumbing practice that the supplies of hot and cold water to the
shower valve should be equal (balanced) pressure in order to provide a consistent flow and good perform-
ance. Supplies should be from a common source, either mains or tank fed. If supplies are not equal pres-
sures then a Non Return Valve (Pegler 801 Non Return Valve) should be fitted.
BYLAW 17 (2) B
The shower head of any shower hose pipe should be fitted by a fixed or sliding attachment so that it can only
be discharged at a point not less than 25mm above the spill-over level of the bath tray or fixed appliance.
BYLAW 30 (2)
Where the shower valve is supplied with hot water from a cistern and cold water from the mains supply
pipe a cold storage cistern that complies to bylaw 30 (2) must be used.
WATER SUPPLY OPERATING PRESSURES:
Pegler thermostatic shower valves have been designed to function under the following conditions :
HOT WATER SUPPLY TEMPERATURE:
Maximum: 85ºC
Minimum: 5ºC Higher than maximum required mixed temperature.
Advisable 65ºC
Minimum difference between hot and cold mixed temperature is 10ºC
OPERATING PRESSURE :
Maximum: 5 Bar
Minimum: 0.1Bar
Operating pressure (on hot and cold line) should be kept as balanced as possible in order to assure maxi-
mum efficiency. When the supply is higher than 5 Bar a Pressure Reducing Valve should be fitted before the
shower valve.( Pegler PRV-2)
DIVERTER CARTRIDGE CHANGE:
To remove the diverter cartridge :
1. Shut off water supply to both inlets.
2. Remove the three handles, remove threaded screw & grub screw with 2.5 mm Allen key (2) take off handles (3).
3. Unscrew chrome bushes (4) and remove, then remove chrome cover plate (5).
4. Unscrew by hand the housing (6).
5. Unscrew flange (7) using 19mm spanner.
6. Remove diverter cartridge (8).
7. Before re-assembling cartridge clean its housing with wet cloth and grease "O"rings on cartridge.
8. Place the new cartridge, inserting the two pivots into the corresponding seats.
9. Re-fit flange (7) by using 19mm spanner
10. Screw by hand the element (6)
11. Apply silicone to the back of the cover plate (5) and push over shower valve.
12. When in position fit chrome bushes (4) to retain cover plate in position.
13. Fit handles (3) and tighten grub screw located in handle with 2.5mm Allen key provided to secure handle.
Insert thread screw (2) and tighten before fitting lever (1) on to threaded screw and tighten handle lever.
14. Check that temperature is at max. 43ºC before shower is used.
INSTALLATION AND SERVICING:
Flush out supply pipes before fitting the shower valve, as debris will prevent the shower valve working to
its optimum level. (To prevent debris damaging the shower valve we recommend that you fit the filters pro-
vided (These may already be pre-installed). The shower valve may require servicing from time to time to
retain optimum performance. Therefore we recommend the fitting of service valves upstream of the valve
to allow for servicing of the shower valve. We recommend the purchase of PB300 isolating valves. Any stan-
dard sealant may be used this product in accordance with manufacturers recommendations.
PLUMBING RECOMMENDATIONS:
The shower valve mixer ports are 3/4 BSP female threads. The hot supply should be on the left hand side
and the cold on the right hand side as viewed from the front of the shower valve. The shower valve body
has been marked Hot and Cold. Large runs of pipe work will cause frictional loss of pressure. The recom-
mended pipe work from both cylinder and water tank should be 22mm minimum. If more than one show-
er valve is installed the minimum feed from tank and cylinder should be 28mm, reducing to 22mm within
half a meter of the shower valve. (Ensure adequate supply of both hot and cold water can be maintained).
The shower valve can be used in conjunction with most makes of pumps on the market. Installations where
a pump is required, install pump before shower mixer inlets.
TYPES OF INSTALLATION:
There are a number of basic types of installation detailed below. If you are unsure as to your circumstances
please call us on 0870 1200285. Having established your site installations see table below to determine
which if any, flow limiters have to be fitted.

VERTICAL REGULATION OF THE DIVERTER HANDLE:
If the handle, top handle, is not perfectly lined up with the vertical, use the following procedure:
1. Shut off water supply to both inlets
2. Remove the diverter handle lever (1), remove screw and grub screw with 2.5mm Allen key (2), take off
the diverter knob (3).
3. Remove the chrome bush (4) in order to avoid damaging the finish.
4. Unscrew the screw (5) with a 2.5mm Allen key. Attention do not unscrew completely loosen only to
allow movement of the element (6)
5. Slightly screw one of the two screws (5). Attention do
not screw completely in order to allow the rotation of
the element (6) with light strength.
6. Re-fit the diverter handle with the lever close to the ver-
tical position.
7. If the position is correct remove the handle and screw
completely in the screw (5). Attention during the spin
check that the element (6) does not rotate, should this
happen, adjust again the vertical position, unscrew the
element (7) by hand and lock the element (6) with pli-
ers, then screw again the element (7) by hand.
8. Screw the bush adaptors with "O" ring(4).
9. Refit the three knobs (3) and the three levers(1).
CARTRIDGE CHANGE AND CLEANING: Through years of use impurities and limescale could restrict flow
of water through the filters of the cartridge. To clean the filter:
1. Shut off water supply to both inlets.
2. Remove the temperature handle, (1) remove threaded screw and grub screw with 2.5mm Allen key (2) take
off temperature handle (3) and stepped brass washer (4)
3. Unscrew cartridge using 30mm spanner. Wash filters under running water or leave to soak in vinegar or de-
scaling agent.
4. Before re-assembling cartridge clean its
housing with wet cloth and grease
"O"rings cartridge.
5. Re-assemble cartridge into shower
valve.
6. Re-fit stepped brass washer according to
the drawing and turn splined spindle (A) until
you reach required temperature (38ºC).
7. Re-fit stepped brass washer (4) aligning the
red dots with reference point on body (B)
8. Re-fit temperature handle (3) threaded
screw and grub screws (2) and lever (1).
The shower valve performs satisfactorily without flow limiters although it is recommended that they be fit-
ted for the purpose of economical water usage.
TECHNICAL INFORMATION:
The shower valve is supplied with a chrome plated cover plate.
The installation depth for the shower valve is between 65mm to 85mm.
The temperature control knob is set at 38°C with auto stop at 43ºc to avoid scalding.
INSTALLATION OF SHOWER VALVE:
Before mounting the concealed shower valve to the wall, the positioning for pipe work should be decided.
The shower valve body requires a hole depth of between 65mm to 85mm measured to the finished wall.
The depth of the retaining screws needs to be taken into account when deciding the shower valve position.
It is essential that when installing a concealed shower valve full access to the shower valve can be achieved
for servicing purposes. For this reason it is recommend that servicing valves be fitted up stream. Rear access
to the shower valve is always preferred wherever possible (eg ; an airing cupboard or panelled wall ), as this
would negate the need to disturb any tiling or decorative features at the front of the shower valve.
MOUNTING CONCEALED SHOWER:
1. Locate the shower valve body in position and mark the wall for the securing screw positions.
2. Drill and plug the wall using the correct type of fixings.. (Depending on pipe layout/access it could be ben-
eficial to connect the inlet pipes before securing the shower valve in the wall).
Please note - before connecting the inlet pipes you must read "Types of Installation" to ensure
correct restrictors are fitted.
3. Flush out the pipe work before connecting to the shower valve.
4. Connect elbows or straight connectors to shower valve body inlets.
5. Connect water supplies to inlet connectors.
6. Secure shower valve in position and fix to wall.
7. Depending upon shower kit combination being installed (fixed shower head / shower hose and handset
/ body jets / rain bars or combinations) identify which two shower kits are to be controlled by the
Diverter outlet (top of the shower valve) and the single shower kit by the On/Off valve (bottom of the
shower valve) and pipe shower outlets to the correct positions.
8. Install Fixed Shower Heads / Shower Kits / Body Jets and Rain Bars following the instructions provided
with these products.
Note : Included with the shower valve is a wall union for connection to a shower hose and handset.
9. Check joints are watertight before making good the wall around the shower valve and shower kits.
FITTING COVER PLATE:
1. Apply the seal supplied and/or silicone to the back of the cover plate and push over shower valve.
2. When in position fit chrome bushes with "O" ring to retain cover plate in position.
3. Fit handles and tighten grub screw located in handle with 2.5mm Allen key provided to secure handle.
Insert thread screw and tighten before fitting lever on to threaded screw and tighten handle lever.
4. Check that temperature is at max. 43°C before shower is used.
