General Precautions for Use

Do not place heavy objects on top of the PFS Connect.
There are no user-serviceable parts inside the PFS Connect. All service must be
performed by the authorized dealer.
Never insert foreign objects into connectors.
Take care to avoid spilling liquid on the PFS Connect.
The exterior of the PFS Connect may be wiped with a damp cloth or sterile hand
wipe. Never use thinner, benzene, cosmetics or other volatile agents to clean the
exterior of the PFS Connect.
REGULATORY AND SERVICE INFORMATION
CLASSIFICATION
• Classification to the Medical Device Directive: Class IIA
• Classification to EN 60601-1: Type BF. Any associated computer used with the
system must be an EN 60950 (IEC950) approved computer.
POWER SUPPLY
• Operating Voltage: 3.3-3.5 vDC supplied from an EN 60950 (ISO 950) approved
computer, power supply/battery charger.

INSTRUCTIONS
This document contains instructions for installing the PCMCIA -
Compact Flash adapter with the PFS Connect module installed in your
laptop’s PCMCIA slot.
INSTALLATION
(Depending on Windows version, screens may vary)
1. Gently insert the PFS Connect Module into the PCMCIA -
Compact Flash Adapter. The module will not click into place.
2. Verify that the laptop is powered OFF.
3. Insert the PFS Connect/PCMCIA Adapter into the laptop’s PCMCIA
card slot.

SAFETY PRECAUTIONS
Please read the following Safety Precautions before using the device for the first time.
NOTE: All mentions of “PFS Connect” refer to the PFS Programming Interface.
All mentions of “computer” refer to the computer that is used with your
PFS components.
Markings and Symbols
The following are the markings and symbols used in these Safety Precautions
and/or on the device label:

4. Power ON the laptop. If there has been no prior use of a program-
ming card, the operating system should detect the new device and
search for the appropriate driver.
5. Follow the onscreen prompts in the “Add New Hardware Wizard”
screens until the window requests location of the driver.
6. Remove the check mark for any pre-selected drives (e.g. floppy or
CD drive), choose “Specify A Location,” and then type:
D:\SCDriver\DS301.inf for CD-ROM installation(where D=your CD
drive letter). Insert the PFS Software CD and click on “NEXT.” The
system will confirm the path name.
7. Click on the “NEXT ” button and the laptop should begin reading
the installation disk.
8. Continue clicking through the screen defaults until the installation
is finished.
9. Reboot the laptop if the system gives the prompt to do so.
Installation of the PFS fitting software can occur either prior to or
after this PFS Connect installation.
Important Safety and Handling Information
• The PFS Connect system MUST be used with an EN 60950 (IEC 950) compliant
computer
* When operating the computer, it must be kept at least 1.5 meters from the client
• Operator: DO NOT touch other EQUIPMENT and patient at the same time
* Only use cables provided with your PFS Connect. Use of cables not provided
with your system could result in damage to person or property.
• Storage and shipping temperature of the PFS Connect system MUST be within
the range of -20° to 40° C
Abnormal Conditions
Use of the PFS Connect while it is emitting smoke or a strange odor creates the
danger of fire and electrical shock. Immediately shut down your computer, remove the
PFS Connect from your computer and contact your authorized dealer to
request servicing.
Disassembly
Never try to take apart or modify the PFS Connect. Doing so creates the danger of
fire and electrical shock, as well as PFS Connect malfunction.
Water and Foreign Matter
Never insert the PFS Connect into your computer if there is any foreign matter (metal,
water or other liquid) on the connector.
Handling your Computer with PFS Connect Installed
Never carry your computer around by the PFS Connect.
General Precautions for Use
The PFS Connect is a precision instrument. Incorrect operation and rough handling
can cause malfunction. Be sure to read the following precautions to ensure
proper operation:
Use the PFS Connect following the conditions listed below to prevent malfunction:
* Temperature: 15-35° C, 59-95° F
* Humidity: 30-90%
* No condensation
Avoid using the PFS Connect in areas subject to the following conditions:
* Extreme heat or cold
• Static electricity
* Large amounts of dust
Avoid dropping your computer. If you think you may have damaged the PFS Connect,
immediately shut down your computer and contact your original dealer or
authorized representative. DO NOT continue to use a damaged PFS Connect.
