1) Rated average life is t e lengt of operation (in ours) at w ic point an average of 50% of a large sample of lamps will still be operational and 50% will not.
2) Average life under specified test conditions wit lamps turned off and restarted no more frequently t an once every 3 operating ours.
Lamp life is appreciably longer if lamps are started less frequently.
3) Average life under engineering data wit lamps turned off and restarted once every 12 operating ours.
4) Approximate initial lumens.T e lamp lumen output is based upon lamp performance after 100 ours of operating life, w en t e output is measured during operation on a reference ballast under
standard laboratory conditions.
5) For expected lamp lumen output, commercial ballast manuufacturers can advise t e appropriate ballast factor for eac of t eir ballasts w en t ey are informed of t e designated lamp.T e ballast factor
is a multiplier applied to t e designated lamp lumen output.
6) Design lumens are t e approximate lamp lumen output at 40% of t e lamp’s rated average life.T is output is based upon measurements obtained during lamp operation on a reference ballast under
standard laboratory conditions.
