Antenna Placement Options and Tips

reception.
If your reception is sporadic or needs to be improved, try the helpful tips below:
1.
2.Face the antenna towards the nearest broadcast tower.
3.If you find the channels are less than expected, Please refer to “How many channels can I
receive?” In FAQ below.
Place the antenna in a higher location.
6
Also Scan:

- Every month
- If you lose a channel
Scanning finds all available channels,
including newly added or changed.

Troubleshooting
Why can't I receive a signal?
1. Check to make sure you have correctly connected the antenna to your HDTV or third-
party HD receiver. See “Connect the Antenna to TV or Set-top Box” in this manual.
2. Re-scan for channels. In the TV's setup menu, set the mode to 'Antenna' or 'Air'.
Refer to the TV manual for detailed instructions. While in the TV's setup menu, set
TV to scan for channels. This can sometimes be listed as 'auto-program', 'channel
search', or 'channel scan'. Refer to your TV manual for detailed instructions.
3. Reposition the antenna in a different location, such as higher on a wall. Also try
facing the antenna directly towards the broadcast tower. Signal strength will vary
based on the surrounding conditions. Distance from the tower, and surrounding hills,
buildings and even tall trees can impact reception. Always re-scan for channels after
moving the antenna.
Frequently Asked Questions
How many channels can I receive?
The number of channels you can receive will be determined by what is broadcasting in
your area. Channel reception will vary from location to location based on terrain
(including trees, buildings, hills and mountains). The fewer obstructions, the better
your chance of receiving strong digital signals. Go to https://www.fcc.gov/general/
digital-television and find DTV Reception Maps, enter your address for a listing of likely
channels available in your area.
Will all the channels receive be High Definition (HD)?
Not all digital signals are High Definition (HD). Make sure you are using a High Definition
Television (HDTV) with built in ATSC tuner. When connecting the antenna to a third-
party receiver (set-top box), make sure it is capable of receiving HD. Otherwise no HD
channels can be viewed.
Will picture quality be better than with cable?
All cable companies compress their HD signals. The result is a degraded signal that is
usually inferior to ATSC broadcast. Many factors determine whether your picture
quality will be better in every instance.
Can I connect the antenna to multiple televisions?
Yes. However, the signal should only be split between multiple HDTVs if using an
amplified antenna.

Why can't I get a specific channel that is known to be available in my area? One
channel is missing.
1. There may be obstructions between the antenna and the broadcast tower of your
desired channel. Please try to reposition the antenna and re-run the channel scan.
Why can't I get any channels from the antenna?
1. Your TV may not be functioning in the desired mode, or may not be scanning for
channels properly. Please refer to the manual of your TV for detailed instructions.
2. There may be obstructions between your antenna and the signals. Please try to
reposition the antenna and rescan for the channels.
3. Your TV may not have a built- in digital tuner, or your STB may not support HD
tuning. Please use a TV or STB that supports HD digital tuning.
Why is my reception so poor?
The signals at the position of your antenna may be very weak due to obstructions in
your surroundings. Please try to reposition the antenna and rescan for the channels.
It may help to place the antenna in a higher position.
The picture or sound freezes while I am watching a channel, or there are boxes in the
picture.
This is often caused by a weak or intermittent signal. Try moving the antenna to a
different location or aiming it in the direction of the tower the channel is being
broadcast from.

If the antenna aluminum parts came in bent during shipping unfortunately, does it
hurt the reception?
They do not hurt the reception in any way.
I missed a part from the list. What should I do? Should I return the antenna?
Please don't return. You can E-mail us at: [email protected] and we will ship
you a replacement part free of charge within 30 days.
