SOUND STAGING
The AVIC-HD1BT’s HDD capabilities make for
the perfect music platform. While playing CDs,
the AVIC-HD1BT automatically rips (at 4 times speed)
a CD* to the HDD. In approximately 15 minutes the entire CD and labels
are uploaded, while track titles, etc. are added thanks to Gracenote®
Media Database** autotitling. Furthermore, the AVIC-HD1BT boasts
an advanced music interface, which allows you to search by track (max.
400 songs), album name (max. 400 playlists), artist name, genre (13 genres)
and My Favourites (max. 4 playlists). It is also possible to play My Mix,
which plays a random selection of your favourite tracks. To enhance driving
comfort, you can use Voice Recognition for all the basic functionalities
within the Music Library.

The AVIC-HD1BT features a most impressive and innovative sound
staging control, which allows you to customise the audio output according

For 2006, we have extended our map navigation to cover
26 countries across the whole of Europe, including Eastern
European countries. As a result, you can rely on your trusted
Pioneer navigation system to guide you over an amazing
7 million kilometres of European roads.
Since you value the wide array of POIs (Points of Interest),
ranging from petrol stations and services to restaurants
and shopping outlets, we have added some more this year.
With the AVIC-X1BT, you can now rely on 1.78 million POIs
divided into 65 categories. For the AVIC-HD1BT, things
are even more impressive with a staggering 3.4 million POIs!
Since this is an enormous amount of detail, the CNDV-60M
2006 navigation software for AVIC-X1BT now comes on
2 DVD-ROMs*: one covering the West of Europe and one
covering the East of Europe, with an overlap area available
on both discs. When travelling from one zone into the next,
the AVIC-X1BT’s Memory Navi will start up and the next DVD
can be inserted. For the AVIC-HD1BT, this enormous amount
of detailed information comes pre-installed on its HDD,
with 20 GB assigned to navigation data. Future updates can
be made by DVD-ROM.

Visual Route Selection: some options to choose from (AVIC-HD1BT)
Search
Thanks to an advanced GUI (Graphical User Interface),
the AVIC navigation units’ intelligent search capabilities
are extensive, yet simple and straightforward. You can
search by street name, town, postal code or POI. In order
to help you along even further, when searching by street,
the actual street name appears first. For example, “Rue Etienne
Marcel” appears as “Etienne Marcel, Rue”. This eliminates
time-consuming scrolling and concern whether it is a street,
lane, or avenue. En route, you might require both hands on
the wheel, that’s why both the AVIC-HD1BT and AVIC-X1BT
allow you to use the voice interface to store and retrieve
information*. Whichever way you go about it, your AVIC
unit
will take you straight to your destination, right down to
the house number. Require a few additional stops along
the way? Just input these extra waypoints and your route will
take you past all of them, and finally to your end-destination.
With 1.78 million POIs (3.4 million for the AVIC-HD1BT)
in over 65 categories, you are always certain to find exactly
what you are looking for, no matter where in Europe
you are. For the AVIC-HD1BT, the POI menu even integrates
the Bluetooth®wireless telephony capabilities
, allowing
you to phone
directly from the POI menu.
In addition, the AVIC-HD1BT allows you to do a country-wide
POI search by name and category. Search results are displayed
according to distance from the current location. To make
your search even faster, this navigation unit features predictive
text based on your destination history.

For the AVIC-X1BT, Voice Recognition is only available with the optional voice command pack CD-VC1.
You have your own driving style and road preferences.
Pioneer’s AVIC units have been designed to adjust to those
needs. In no time, the routing system calculates up to
6 routes simultaneously in addition to offering the user
the option of visual route selection, and a route preview
function. Depending on your requirements, you can select
from fast route (time priority), short route (distance priority),
alternative route, fastest route avoiding motorways, shortest
distance avoiding motorways, or alternative route avoiding
motorways. You can avoid toll roads and ferry crossings,
or avoid London’s Congestion Area whenever possible.
It is also possible to modify the route calculation conditions
to best fit your requirements.
The AVIC-HD1BT also incorporates the intelligent ‘Route
Learning’ feature. This feature learns the history
of each
road travelled, as well as directional tendencies. Future
route calculations will take these parameters
into account
and suggest a route according to your personal preferences
and driving style.

and download a location map from navshop.com for selected
countries (only for AVIC-HD1BT).

The AVIC-HD1BT and AVIC-X1BT navigation
units have a built-in
TMC (Traffic Message Channel)
receiver offering up-to-the-minute
detailed traffic
information. In countries where real-time TMC
traffic information is broadcasted, the system
indicates
the traffic events on the map within
a range of 150 kilometres. If TMC picks up
a problem, the system presents you with an alternative route
in order to avoid the traffic event. A special
menu function lists
all the current traffic events in the area
and even sorts them
by ‘Distance’ or ‘Event’.
On the Pioneer navigation units, you can personalise the traffic
information by selecting the traffic icons you would like to see
displayed on the map from a handy menu. When the AVIC-X1BT
is in Memory Navi mode, TMC is now also available for
the country the driver is in at the time of switching to Memory
Navi mode, and for the country prior to that. The traffic
information received while in Memory Navi mode only covers
the area that has been stored in the memory. In addition,
traffic lists will not be available. However, traffic icons will still
appear on the map whenever a new message is received.
On the AVIC-HD1BT, a TMC icon will automatically appear
on your navigation screen to inform you that a traffic event
has been reported on your route.
Guide
Built-in TMC (Traffic Messaging Channel)
With the AVIC-HD1BT and AVIC-X1BT, you can choose
and switch a variety of navigation viewing modes.
These navigation modes offer you a choice between
a realistic 3D view of the road ahead (Pioneer’s original Driver’s
View Mode); Map Mode, in which the car is an icon on a full
screen overview map; Street List Mode, showing a minimum
of 2 arrows with the corresponding street names; or a mix
of any two of these: Mixed Mode. All modes are available
with the same precise mapping and information data.
Alternatively, you can select the Rear View Mode to keep
an eye on the road behind at the same time as following
the route on the map. The Sensor View Mode displays vehicle
dynamics information about acceleration, lateral G-force,
angular velocity and much more. On all of Pioneer’s navigation
units, the touch panel stays interactive at all times during
guidance: you just need to touch an on-screen button or icon
to retrieve extra information.
On the AVIC-HD1BT, an additional viewing mode is available,
namely the Twin View Mode with automatic zoom. This mode
allows you to keep a general map overview on one side
of the screen, while a more detailed and zoomed in view
– in either 2D or 3D – of the immediate surroundings
is displayed on the main window.
Both navigation units also feature convenient, updated Voice
Guidance. For 2006, the “turn now” command comes earlier,
at 50 metres instead of 30 metres. New implementations also
include “Turn right in the roundabout” and “Take the second
exit”. On highways, at the first guidance, road numbers
and exit numbers are announced whenever possible.

NAVIGATION SOLUTIONS
Incorporating Bluetooth
®
wireless technology,
the AVIC navigation units offer the very
latest in hands-free telephony – removing
the need for a complicated hands-free kit, additional connections or
wires. The AVIC units connect to nearly any Bluetooth®wireless
technology enabled mobile phone* in the car, wherever it is, either in
the glove compartment, your handbag or in your pocket. Thanks to
Bluetooth®wireless technology, you can manage your mobile
phone’s functionalities from your AVIC unit’s touch panel display,
using the remote control, your car’s own hard-wired remote
control, or even using voice recognition**. On the AVIC-HD1BT,
a total of 5 mobile phones can be paired with the unit to enjoy full
functionalities. The AVIC-X1BT allows you to pair 3 mobile phones,
with basic functionalities available for up to 2 guests.
The AVIC navigation units boast advanced call functionalities and allow
you to manage your calls, phone book, call history, etc. For the AVIC-HD1BT,
the phone book can even be transferred to and managed from the HDD.
It is even possible to include pictures in the phonebook, which can
be added via CD-ROM and will be shared between the phonebook
and the address book.
What’s more, the AVIC units’ telephony seamlessly integrates with
the navigation capabilities, allowing you to search for POIs or use
the address book and dial directly, without having to go to a separate menu.
Most importantly, these AVIC units offer you the freedom to answer
your calls with both hands on the wheel and with the greatest of ease.

User-friendly Operation
Pioneer’s AVIC units boast a user-friendly touch panel
display, which offers fast and easy access to the unit’s GUI
(Graphical User Interface). A simple touch of the screen
is all it takes to make your selection. When you are
required to input information, a clear keyboard will be displayed on screen.
Making your way through the menu is equally simple. The tab structure
offers a clear overview, and the ‘back’ button always allows you to move
back to a higher level within the menu.
The touch panel display also enables you to scroll on the map and retrieve
map and POI information in the vicinity of the cursor position. For example,
when you are in a new city, you may want to know where to park.
By scrolling on the map, a list of nearby car parks can be retrieved
at the touch of a nger!
For 2006, the Voice Recognition has been improved
on the AVIC-HD1BT to create a much higher hit rate
than previously available. The new voice engine
is a huge improvement over previous versions.
Synonyms can be used for the basic navigation
commands, while many useful commands have been added, such as
Bluetooth®commands and POI commands. For the Display Menu, you can
select from 10 different languages*, while Voice Recognition is available
in 6 languages**.
Voice Recognition also makes for a handy feature when using
the AVIC-HD1BT’s Music Library, allowing you to search the library
by Song, Artist, Album and Genre. In addition, Voice Recognition can
be used to make phone calls using Bluetooth®wireless technology
and in the navigation menu to set a destination from the address book
and to change the destination.
To enjoy Voice Recognition on the AVIC-X1BT, you require the optional
Voice Command pack CD-VC1.
