INTRODUCTION

GETTING TO KNOW THE APS
PAGE 1
The PlugLoad 7-outlet Tier 1 Advanced PowerStrip
(APS) is an energy-saving surge protector that reduces
standby power wasted by TV and PC peripheral
electronics. In addition to saving energy, the APS
provides surge protection to safeguard electronics
against damaging power surges.
POWER CONNECTION
The Lifetime of the APS is 3 years (hereafter referred to
as APS Warranty).
PlugLoad warrants to the original purchaser that for the
APS Warranty it shall be free of defects in design,
assembly, material, or workmanship and will repair or
replace, at its option, any defective APS free of charge.
PlugLoad will repair or replace, at its option, any
devices which are damaged by a transient voltage
surge/spike or lightning strike (an “Occurrence”) while
properly connected through the APS to a
properly-wired AC power line with protective grounding
provided that the unit has been registered online for
warranty with PlugLoad.
ENSURE YOU HAVE REGISTERED YOUR APS
FOR WARRANTY BY COMPLETING AND
SUBMITTING YOU WARRANTY REGISTRATION
FORM AT WWW.PLUGLOAD.COM/WARRANTY
This Connected Device Warranty is a limited warranty,
subject to the limitations and exclusions set forth
herein. PlugLoad will spend to repair or replace the
damaged connected equipment, at PlugLoad’s option,
an amount equal to the fair market value of the
damaged equipment or the original purchase price of
the equipment, whichever is less, up to the maximum
amount of $10,000.
PlugLoad reserves the right to review the damaged
APS, the damaged devices, and the site where the
damage occurred prior to processing a connected
device warranty device claim. All costs of shipping the
APS and the damaged devices to PlugLoad for
inspection shall be borne solely by the purchaser.
PlugLoad reserves the right to negotiate the cost of
repairs. If PlugLoad determines, in its sole discretion,
that it is impractical to ship the damaged devices to
PlugLoad, PlugLoad may designate, in its sole
discretion, a repair facility to inspect and estimate the
cost to repair such devices. The cost, if any, of shipping
the devices to and from such repair facility shall be
borne solely by the purchaser.
Surge
Surge
Surge
When illuminated green, this LED
indicates that the surge protection is
functioning normally. If this LED
extinguishes at any time, the APS
was sacrificed to protect your devices
and must be replaced.
SURGE LED INDICATOR
The resettable circuit breaker
provides protection for all outlets on
the APS. If no devices are powered or
LEDs lit, press the circuit breaker to
reactivate power.
RESETTABLE CIRCUIT BREAKER
The always-on outlets receive
constant power and remain on all of
the time.
ALWAYS-ON OUTLETS
Surge
This current-sensing outlet controls
whether power is supplied to the
switched outlets or not. The control
device (e.g., TV or PC) must be
plugged into this outlet.
CONTROL OUTLET
Surge
The switched outlets will automatically
switch off when the control device
(e.g. TV or PC) powers off or enters a
standby state.
SWITCHED OUTLETS
The APS features a heavy duty power cord
with an angled, space-saving plug. It must
only be plugged into a grounded
receptacle for surge protection to operate
correctly. All connected devices should be plugged
directly into the APS. Use of an extension cord, adaptor
or other power strip in conjunction with the APS will void
all warranties.
The APS may not be used with an aquarium or
evaporative / swamp cooler or any device which is likely
to cause condensation or moisture to enter the APS.
The APS must only used INDOORS in a cool dry
location. The APS should not be located directly next to a
baseboard heater where it is likely to overheat.
Any high current devices which manufacturers require to
be plugged directly into a receptacle must not be plugged
into the APS.
The total amperage of devices plugged into the APS
must not exceed 15A.
In addition to the above conditions the installation of the
APS must comply with UL installation requirements for
Relocatable Power Taps and the National Electric Code.

In no event shall PlugLoad be liable for incidental,
special, direct, indirect, consequential or multiple
damages such as, but not limited to, lost business or
profits arising out of the sale or use of any APS even if
advised of the possibility of such damages. This
warranty gives you specific legal rights, and you may
also have other rights, which may vary from state to
state. Some states do not allow the exclusion or
limitation of incidental or consequential damage, so the
above limitations may not apply to you.
This warranty is valid only for the original purchaser of
the APS. All damage claims against the APS must be
made within 30 days from the date of the Occurrence
and must be accompanied by a receipt for the damaged
devices or the warranty is void and the APS must be
registered with PlugLoad.
Warranty is valid in the USA and Canada.

COPYRIGHT AND DISCLAIMER
MAKING A WARRANTY CLAIM
• The APS in use during the occurrence was not
provided to PlugLoad for inspection upon
PlugLoad’s request at the sole expense of the
purchaser.
• PlugLoad determines that the APS has not been
installed in accordance with the Installation
Requirements, or altered in any way.
• PlugLoad determines that the damage did not
result from the Occurrence, or that no occurrence
in fact took place, or that the repair or replacement
of the damaged devices is covered under a
manufacturer’s warranty.
• PlugLoad determines that the connected devices
were not used under normal operating conditions
or in accordance with labels or instructions.
• The APS was not plugged directly into a grounded
outlet receptacle.
• The APS was “daisy-chained” together in serial
fashion with other power strips, UPS devices,
other surge protectors, or extension cords.
• A three-to-two-prong adapter was used.
• The APS was not used indoors.
This APS is not for use with aquariums or other
water-related products. Use only indoors and in dry
locations. The Connected Device Warranty only
protects against damage to properly-connected
devices where PlugLoad has determined, in its sole
discretion, that the damage resulted from an
Occurrence and does not protect against acts of God
(other than lightning) such as flood, earthquake, war,
vandalism, theft, normal-use wear and tear, erosion,
depletion, obsolescence, abuse, damage due to low
voltage disturbances (i.e. brownouts or sags),
non-authorized program, or device modification or
alteration. This is the sole warranty of PlugLoad; there
are no other warranties, expressed or, except as
required by law, implied, including the implied warranty
or condition of quality, merchantability or fitness for a
particular purpose, and such implied warranties, if any,
are limited in duration to the term of this warranty. Some
states do not allow limitations on how long an implied
warranty lasts, so the above limitations may not apply
to you.
Damaged APS and connected devices must remain
available for inspection until the claim is finalized. The
site or location of damage must remain unchanged and
available for inspection until inspected by PlugLoad or
agents of PlugLoad.
Whenever claims are settled, PlugLoad reserves the
right to be subrogated under any existing insurance
policies the claimant may have. All above warranties
are null and void if the following:

The PlugLoad 7-outlet Tier 1 Advanced PowerStrip
(APS) reduces wasteful standby power by turning the
peripheral electronics on or off based on the status of
the control device. When you power off the control
device (e.g., TV or PC), the peripheral electronics (e.g.,
DVD player or printer) turn off, thereby eliminating
standby power waste. Easy to install, the APS is
suitable for both residential and commercial
applications.
