Ready Light and Test Button (5,8). This light will go on when
the flash unit ¡s ready for taking a picture - about 15 seconds
with f resh batteries. lf it takes longer than 30 seconds for the
light to come on, the batteries should be replaced. lf the lighl
does not come on at all, the batteries are probably dead oi
i nstalled incorrectly.
Hold the camera as shown in your camera tnstruction book;
do not let your f ngers block the camera lens, electric eye, or
f ront of the f ash unit When the Ready Light goes on, you are
ready to take the picture. Frame the scene, hold the camera
steady, and squeeze the shutter button
Flash in daylight
You can use this f lash unit to improve outdoor pictures made in
dim light or deep shade Be sure to stay wrth n the f lash range -
1 .21o2.7m (4 to I ft ) You w I get best results when your sub-
lect s about 1 .5 to I Bm (5 1o 6 f t.) away.
In bright outdoor light, thrs unrt will not f ire and should be
rernoved f rom the camera. f you wrsh to use f ill-f lash in bright
orldoor light (1o erase shadows or correct uneven ghting), use
a Flashbai and slay w thin 1 .21o2.4m (4 to B fl.) f rom your
su bject.
Troubleshooting
f the camera does nol operate when you push the shutter but
ton, check to make sure that the f lash unit is turned on, that the
Ready Llght is o¡ (indicating the unrt s f ully charged and rearly
to f re), and that there is f lm in the camera
If the Ready Lighl does nol come on, the batteries may be
dead or rncorrectly inslalled.
The Ready Liglrt ]s also the Test Bulton You can f re the f lash
without taklng a picture by pushing the Test Button. You should
f ire it twice before f irst use. or f the unit has been stored for sev-
eral weeks. Tesl-f iring the f lash will form the capacitator n the
unit to heip provide proper llght output for your f rst picture. You
can also use the Test Bu1lon to make sure the batteries are
strong enough to recharge the unit tn ess than 30 seconds.
The L¡ghten/Darken control (6). For most pictures. you w I
want to leave this conlro rn the center, or V setting. ln diff icuLt
lighting siluations, you can lighten or darken a plcture by mov-
ing il to O (lighten) or O (darken) See "Troubleshooting" for
more detarled nformation. After you have taken a picture with
the contro set to Lighten or Darken, return it to the center
settr ng.
