Using the Remote Control
The Buttons On the Remote control
Mute button Lowersthevolume to its minimumlevel.Pressagain to
restorevolume.
ON/OFF Turnsthetelevisiononand off.
0-9 (Digit buttons) Enter channel numbers and time settings directly through
theremotecontrol.
Toenteratwo-digitchannel,pressthetwodigits.To enter a
three-digitchannel,pressandhold the firstdigitfortwosec-
ondsuntiltwodashesappeartotherightofthenumber,then
addthesecondtwo.Example:totunea channel 123, press
andhold 1 fortwo seconds, press 2,then press 3.
DISPLAY Displays channel information.
PRE.CH Returnsyoutothepreviouschannel.Ifyouareinthemenu
system,thisbuttontakesyoutothepreviousmenuscreen.
BROWSE Uses the browse feature. Press the button twice to begin
scanningchannels.Press thebuttonagaintostopscanning
atthecurrentchannel.
SLEEP Setsthesleep timer.
PIC StepsthroughpicturepresetsUSER,SOFT,NORMAL,and
BRIGHT.
CLEAR Removesanymenuordisplayfromthescreen and returns
youtotelevisionviewing.Ifyouare using a menu withnum-
berinputs,pressCLEARtoerasethe last number entered.
TV/AV Togglesthe television between availableAV inputs and RF
input.
MENU Displaysthetelevision’sMainmenu.
VOL( / )buttons Decreases or increases the television's volume or moves
throughtheon-screenmenusystem.
CHAN ( / ) buttonsScans up or down through the current channel list. Press
once to change the channel up or down; press and hold to
continuechangingchannels,ormovethroughtheon-screen
menusystem.
SOUND Selectsfromfourpresentaudiosettings(USER,SPEECH,
THEATER,andMUSIC)
STEREO Nofunctiononthismodel.
CCD Turnsonorturnsoffthe closed caption.
Loading batteries: Removethe lid of thebattery compartment,insert2 sizeAAAbatteries with the
polaritiesas indicated inside thecompartment, then replace thelid.
Note:
1. Newbatteries will lastabout1yearundernormal use.
2. If you donot intend to usetheremote control foralong period oftime,remove the batteriestoavoid

Connecting the television to power
Insertthepowerplugintoa120VACelectricaloutlet.Unplugthepowercordwhenthetelevisionwillnotbe
used for a long period of time.
Turning the television on and off
TurnonthepowerbyusingthePOWERbuttononthetelevisionorontheremotecontrol.
Using standby mode
Ifthetelevisionisinanon-signalstate(isnotreceivingatelevisionsignal)for15minutes,thetelevisionwill
enter standby mode.To turn the television back on, press the POWER button on the television or remote
control.
Changing channels
Change channels by using the CHAN /button on the television or on the remote control. When AN-
TENNAis set toAIR,access the channel bypressingtwo digitson the remote control.WhenANTENNAis
setasCABLE, use three digitsontheremotecontrol to select thechannel.Toselect channels above 100,
pressandholdthe “1” number fortwoseconds.TheOSD shows 1--, theninputtheother two digits.

Adjustthesoundbyusing the VOL /button on the televisionorontheremotecontrol.

External connection
This unit can be simultaneously connected to a VCR, DVD player, video camera and other audio-video
equipment.
Formonophonicaudio devices, connecttheaudio using the AUDIO L jack.

1. Toenteramenu,pressthemenubuttononthetelevisionorontheremotecontrol,
thenusetheVOL / button on front ofthetelevision(orthe / buttonon the remote
control)toselecttheicon.
2. PressCHAN /button on thetelevisionoron the remote control toselectthemode
youwanttochange.

The PICTURE menu allows you to make an adjustment to your picture settings. It also
allowsyouto customize the picturemodebasedon the type ofprogramyou are viewing.
CONTRAST Adjustthedifference between the lightanddarkareas of the picture.
BRIGHTNESS Adjustleftorright to darken or brightenthepicture.
COLOR Adjustleftor right to decreaseorincrease color intensity orsaturation.
SHARPNESS Adjustleftorright to soften orsharpenthepicture detail.
TINT Adjustthebalancebetweentheredand green levels.
COLORTEMP Providethree automatic color adjustments:Coldfor a more bluepaletteof picture
color;Normal; Warm for amorered palette of picture color.

Themostcommontypesof television interference are as follows:
SNOWY PICTURE
Snowypictureisusuallyduetoweaksignal.Adjust antenna or installan antenna amplifier.
DOUBLE IMAGE OR GHOSTS
Doubleimages are usually causedby reflections from tallbuildings.Adjust the directionofthe antenna or
raise it.
RADIO WAVE INTERFERENCE
Wavypatternsaremoving on thescreen,which are usuallycausedby nearby radiotransmitters or short-
wavereceivingequipment.
HIGH TEMPERATURE ELECTROTHERMAL INTERFERENCE
Diagonalorherringbonepatternsappearonthescreenor partofpictureismissing.This isprobablycaused
byhightemperatureelectrothermalequipmentinanearbyhospital.
NOTE:Ifoneofthesesymptoms appearsonthescreenwhenthecablefroma cable providerisconnected,
thismaybe due tothelocal cable companybroadcast.

Troubleshooting
Mostproblems you encounter withyour television can becorrected by consultingtheTroubleshootinglist
thatfollows.
Ifthetroublestillpersists,contactthe service center.

Problems Check
No picture or sound. Check if the power supply is plugged in.
Check if the power button is in the "on” position.
Picture is OK, no sound. Check if the volume control is set to the minimum or mute position.
Remote control doesn't work
Check if the power button is in the "on" position.
Check if the batteries are exhausted or not connected well.
Make sure that there is no strong light striking the sensor window of the
remote control unit.
Check there are no obstacles before the sensor window of remote
control unit.
No television signal. Check if the TV/AV button is set to TV.
Check if the antenna is connected correctly.
No external video signal. Check if the TV/AV button is set to AV.
Picture lacks color or picture
too dark. Check if the color, bright, and contrast controls are correctly adjusted.
All channels lose color
intermittently.
Check if the antenna is broken.
Check if the antenna is disconnected.
Check if the antenna is damaged.
Poor reception, loss of color
with certain channels. Check if the channels are correctly tuned (see "Fine tuning") .
Diagonal stripes appear on
picture. The receiver may be affected by interference from a nearby radio broadcasting transmitter or by another television receiver.
Picture has "snow". Check if the antenna is broken. Check if the antenna is disconnected.
Check if the antenna is damaged.
Ghost images appear.
Check if the antenna direction has been changed by a storm or strong wind,
Ghost images are caused by signals which have been reflected by a hill or
large building. The direction of the antenna should be chosen for minimized
ghost images.
