• When Refilling the boiler, pour in gently at first and keep your face
away. Otherwise the still hot boiler walls can spit drops of very hot
water or steam spray.
• Do not put any detergent or chemical substance in the boiler. Water by
its nature contains magnesium, mineral salts and other deposits which
in hard water areas can contribute to limescale build up in the boiler. To
avoid these problems, we recommend the use of our natural-base
decalcifier Kalstop FP 2003. This is a preventive against scale build-up
and protects the metal walls of the boiler. KALSTOP is available from
Polti dealers or by mail-order from your Polti Service Centre.

described above.
•Never use distilled water or scented water.

• Check periodically the safety cap and the related gasket, replace them
with original spare parts if necessary.
• If you iron sitting down, do not place your legs under the ironing board,
the steam can cause burns.
• Iron only on heat resistant surfaces and on surfaces that allow the
steam to escape e.g. mesh ironing boards.

1a. Unscrew the patented safety cap (1) and fill the boiler with not more
than 0.9 litres of water (from empty), using the special funnel (11).
Make sure that the water does not overflow (fig.1), and that space is
left in the boiler for the steam to form.
Normal tapwater can be used. However, as water by its nature con-
tains limestone, which may cause build-up of limescale in the boiler,
in hard water areas we recommend the use of our natural-base de-
calcifier Kalstop FP 2003. KALSTOP is available from Polti dealers
and by mail order from the Authorised Service Centre.
2a. Make sure the rubber gasket is present inside the safety cap, then
screw on the cap fully and carefully. Do not use the appliance if the
rubber gasket is not present. Make sure the patented safety cap (1) is
fully and correctly screwed on, otherwise you may experience steam
escaping from around the cap.
3a. Connect the power supply cable (9) into an earthed power supply of
the correct voltage.
Read these instructions carefully before using
the appliance.
4a. Switch on the boiler and iron by pressing the switches (2) and (3); in-
dicators (4) and (5) will light up (fig.2).
NOTE: during filling operation, be careful that the water does not overflow
as it may come out and wet the surface where Vaporella is laid.

Before ironing a garment, it is always advisable to check the symbols and
instructions on the label provided by the garment manufacturer.
Check which kind of ironing is recommended, referring to the table below:
STEAM IRONING
1b. Set the iron temperature on the “COTTON - LINEN” position (fig. 3),
by turning the dial (7).
2b. Wait until the steam pressure indicator light (5) and the “Iron heating”
indicator light (4) switch off (about 15 minutes). Press the button (10)
on the iron to make steam come out of the holes on the soleplate.
Releasing the button, the steam stops.
NOTE: during initial operation of the iron, a few drops of water mixed
with steam may come out of the soleplate until the temperature stabi-
lizes. It is advisable to direct the first jets of steam onto an old cloth
until a uniform stable jet of steam is obtained.
3b. By moving the sliding control (6), the volume of steam can be varied
according to the type of textile to be ironed (more or less delicate)
(fig.4).
DRY IRONING:
1c. For DRY ironing (without steam), set the iron temperature by turning
the control dial (7) on the position required for the fabric, as shown on
the same dial. When dry ironing, be careful NOT TO PRESS THE
STEAM RELEASE BUTTON (10) on the iron, otherwise water may
leak from the soleplate.
NOTE:
• The steam pressure indicator light (5) may go on and off from time to
time during use of Vaporella. This indicates the machine maintaining
the correct and constant pressure and is quite normal.
• If no steam is released from the iron, check the following:
a) there is water in the boiler;
b) the sliding steam regulation control (6) is not set to the minimum po-
sition.
c) the steam pressure indicator light is off

This appliance is equipped with a patented safety cap, which prevents
opening of the boiler as long as there is any pressure remaining inside.
This is an important and indispensable safety device, and it is necessary
to follow certain procedures when re-filling the boiler. When you have
used up all the water in the boiler, proceed as follows:
1d. Switch off the boiler switch (2).
2d. Press the steam request button on the iron (10) so as to fully exhaust
the steam supply from the boiler.
3d. Switch off the iron switch (3).
4d. Disconnect the power supply cable from the mains.
5d. Unscrew anti-clockwise the safety cap (1).
6d. Wait for a few minutes to allow the boiler to cool down.
7d. When the boiler is cool proceed to carefully refill the tank as descri-
bed in paragraph 1a of the section “PREPARATION FOR USE” in the
instructions. If refilling the boiler when not completely cooled, we re-
commend that you carefully pour gradually only very small quantities
of HOT (not cold) water at each pouring, so as to avoid spitting.

always disconnect the appliance from the mains.
• To clean the body of the appliance, simply use a moist cloth. Do not use
solvents or detergents, which may harm the body material.
• Rinse the boiler every 2 months with clear water, the washing traces
will be brown, showing the proper functioning of the decalcifier. In case
of very encrusted boiler, proceed in the following way: leave only 0,5
liter water in the boiler, add 5 KALSTOP FP2003 doses; when the boi-
ler is under pressure, press the steam request button until the steam is
exhausted; rinse the boiler to eliminate all limescale residues. When
the boiler is clean, proceed as normal.
