To download the Universal Remote App using your
computer, start iTunes. Search for Universal Remote,
tap Applications, then tap the Free App button next
to the POWER A Universal Remote.
When the download is complete, sync your iPhone
to iTunes to install the app on your phone.

Slide your iPhone 3G or iPhone 3GS into the two-piece
Universal Remote Case. When the case is completely closed,
the adapter is connected correctly.
Tap Yes to connect to the iTunes store and download the app.

Q: What kind of remote can I program?
A: You can program any remote control that uses infrared
technology to send signals to the original equipment. The
Universal Remote does not work with Bluetooth, laser, radio
frequency, or other wireless technologies.
Program Your Remote

2When programming directly from an existing
remote, point the blue LED sensor on the
Universal Remote at the LED sensor on the
remote control.
3Test your remote with the device it controls to make
sure all buttons work. If a button doesn’t work, then
follow the same steps you used before to reprogram
the button and save it.

iPhone doesn’t fit in Universal Remote Case
The Universal Remote Case works only with iPhone 3G and
iPhone GS models.
Universal Remote is not responding
• Your iPhone battery might be low. Recharge your phone
and try again.
• Check to see that the blue LED on the Universal Remote
lights up when a button is tapped. If the LED doesn’t light
up, data is not being transferred. Remove the iPhone
from the case, reinsert it, and try again.
• A button may not have been successfully programmed. Try
reprogramming the button. During programming, check
to see that the blue LED on the Universal Remote Case
flashes. If not, remove the iPhone from the case, reinsert
it, and try again. You might need to restart your iPhone.
Universal Remote won’t learn properly
If you are having trouble programming buttons, review
these tips:
• Buttons. Press the button on the Universal Remote once,
then briefly press the button on the remote control.
The blue LED on the Universal Remote flashes. Wait for
the “Button Learned” message before programming
another button.
• Distance. The remote control device should be four to six
inches from the Universal Remote during programming.
If signal is not being transferred, try placing the remotes
one to two inches apart or at a 45-degree angle.
• Batteries. Low batteries in your remote control device
can send a weak or erratic infrared signal that can’t be
received. Install new batteries and try again.
Troubleshooting

• Lighting. Sunlight and bright light can sometimes
interfere with infrared signals used by the Universal
Remote. Try programming in a dark or near-dark room.
• Infrared sensor. Check the location of the infrared sensor
on your remote control device. On some popular models,
it is on the back of the device, not the front.
• TV Power. The Universal Remote can only learn the TV
power button from the actual TV remote, not from a
another programmed universal remote controller.
• Interference. Some high-end electronic equipment sends
infrared signals back to the remote when a button is
pressed, which can interfere with programming. To avoid
interference, program the Universal Remote in a different
room, away from the original equipment.
• Reflection. Smooth, glossy, and glass surfaces can
reflect infrared signals. Place the remote control
and the Universal Remote on a matte or soft surface
during programming.
• Incompatible device. The Universal Remote works with
infrared technology. If your remote control uses another
technology, such as Bluetooth, it cannot be programmed.
Also note that some manufacturers use proprietary codes
that cannot be learned.

La Télécommande universelle ne répond pas

• Vérifiez que la DEL bleue s’allume lorsque vous appuyez
sur un bouton. Si la DEL ne s’allume pas, cela signifie que
les données n’ont pas été transférées. Retirez l’iPhone du

• Un bouton n’a peut-être pas été programmé avec succès.
Essayez de reprogrammer le bouton. Pendant la program-
mation, vérifiez que la DEL bleue sur la Télécommande
universelle clignote. Dans le cas contraire, retirez l’iPhone
du boîtier, insérez-le à nouveau et réessayez. Il vous sera
peut-être nécessaire de redémarrer votre iPhone.

Si vous rencontrez des problèmes lors de la programmation
des boutons, passez en revue ces conseils:
• Boutons. Appuyez une fois sur le bouton de la
Télécommande universelle, puis appuyez brièvement sur
le bouton de la télécommande. La Del bleue de la Télé-

autre bouton.

celle-ci risque d’envoyer un signal infrarouge faible ou
erratique impossible à recevoir. Installez des piles neuves
et essayez à nouveau.
• Lumière. La lumière vive ou celle du soleil peuvent parfois
interférer avec les signaux infrarouges utilisés par la
Télécommande universelle. Essayez de programmer dans
une pièce sombre ou quasi sombre.
• Capteur infrarouge. Vérifiez l’emplacement du capteur infrarouge
sur votre télécommande. Sur certains modèles courants, il se
trouve à l’arrière de l’appareil et non pas sur le devant.
• Marche TV. La Télécommande universelle ne peut
enregistrer le bouton de marche de la TV qu’avec la
télécommande d’origine de la TV et non pas avec une
autre télécommande universelle programmée.
• Interférence. Certains équipements électroniques haut
de gamme renvoient des signaux infrarouges à la
télécommande lorsqu’on appuie sur un bouton, ce qui peut
gêner la programmation. Pour éviter toute interférence,
programmez la Télécommande universelle dans une pièce
différente, éloignée de l’équipement d’origine.
• Reflet. Les surfaces lisses, brillantes et en verre peuvent
refléter les signaux infrarouges. Placez la télécommande
et la Télécommande universelle sur une surface mate ou
molle pendant la programmation.

• Appareil incompatible. La Télécommande universelle
fonctionne avec la technologie infrarouge. Si votre
télécommande utilise une autre technologie, comme le
Bluetooth, elle ne pourra pas être programmée. Veuillez
noter également que certains fabricants utilisent des
codes propriétaires qui ne peuvent pas être enregistrés.

programmieren, zeigen Sie mit dem blauen
LED-Sensor der Universalfernbedienung auf

macht, beachten Sie bitte die folgenden Tipps:
• Schaltflächen. Drücken Sie die Schaltfläche einmal auf
der Universalfernbedienung, dann kurz die Taste auf der
Fernbedienung. Die blaue LED an der Universalfernbedien-
ung blinkt. Warten Sie, bis die Meldung „Button Learned“
erscheint, bevor Sie eine andere Taste programmieren.
• Entfernung. Während der Programmierung sollte die
Fernbedienung einen Abstand von etwa 10 bis 15 cm von der
Universalfernbedienung haben. Falls kein Signal übertragen
wird, versuchen Sie, den Abstand auf 2,5 bis 5 cm zu verringern
oder sie in einem Winkel von 45 Grad zueinander zu legen.
Fehlerbehebung

• Batterien. Schwache Batterien in Ihrer Fernbedienung können
schwache oder gestörte Signale senden, die nicht empfangen
werden können. Legen Sie neue Batterien ein und versuchen
Sie es noch einmal.
• Lichtverhältnisse. Direktes Sonnenlicht oder zu helle Be-
leuchtung kann manchmal die Infrarotsignale der Universal-
fernbedienung stören. Versuchen Sie die Programmierung in
einem weniger hellen oder fast dunklen Zimmer.
• Infrarotsensor. Sehen Sie nach, wo sich der Infrarotsensor
an Ihrer Fernbedienung befindet. Bei manchen gängigen
Modellen befindet er sich auf der Rückseite des Geräts und
nicht an der Vorderseite.
• Fernseher ein/aus. Die Universalfernbedienung kann das
Ein- und Ausschalten des Fernsehgeräts nur von der Original-
Fernbedienung des Fernsehers lernen, nicht jedoch von einer
anderen programmierten Universalfernbedienung.
• Störungen. Manche elektronischen Unterhaltungsgeräte
senden Infrarotsignale zur Fernbedienung, wenn eine Taste
gedrückt wird. Dies kann die Programmierung stören. Um
solche Störungen zu vermeiden, programmieren Sie die
Universalfernbedienung in einem anderen Zimmer, entfernt
vom Originalgerät.
• Spiegelungen. Glatte, glänzende Flächen und Flächen aus
Glas können Infrarotsignale reflektieren. Legen sie die Fern-
bedienung und die Universalfernbedienung während der
Programmierung auf eine matte bzw. weiche Oberfläche.
• Nicht kompatibles Gerät. Die Universalfernbedienung arbeitet
auf Infrarotbasis. Falls Ihre Fernbedienung eine andere Technolo-
gie verwendet (z. B. Bluetooth), kann sie nicht programmiert
werden. Beachten Sie außerdem, dass manche Hersteller rechtlich
geschützte Codes verwenden, die nicht erlernt werden können.
