Pleasereadandcomplywiththefollowingconditionsofinstallationanduseofthebattery,incorrectinstallation
usingthebatterymaycausepersonalinjuryordamagetotheproduct.:UseONLYPOWERSYNCEnergy
SolutionsLiFePO4batterymodules.DO NOT CONNECT ANY OTHER BATTERY MODULES. DOING SO WILL VOID THE
WARRANTY AND MAY DAMAGE THE POWERSYNC LiFePO4 BATTERY.
Over-voltages or wrong wiring can damage the battery pack and cause deagration, which can be
extremely dangerous.
DO NOT connect the battery modules in series. (Parallel connections only.)
DO NOT connect POWERSYNC 51.2V-100Ah modules with 25.6V-200 Ah or 12.8V-400Ah modules. Batteries
must be connected with batteries of the same voltage and capacity.
DO NOT openthebatterycaseordisassemblethebattery.
DO NOT throwthebatteryintowater.Alwaysstorethebatteriesinacoolanddryenvironmentwhennotinuse.
DO NOT putthebatteryintoareorheatthebattery,soastoavoidexplosionorotherdangerousevents.

1. 7. BEFORE INSTALLATION:
• Removeanypossiblemetallicitemsthatmaybeatriskofanelectricalshortsuchasjewelry,watches,pens,
metalbars,orframes.
• Alltoolsmustbeinsulated
ThePOWERSYNCLiFePO4Batterymodulesareshippedbetween10%and50%DepthofDischarge(“DOD”).Prior
toopeningthebatterymodulebox(es),inspectallboxestoensurethatthereisnodamageduringshipping.
Ifaboxisdamageddocumentthedamagewithpictures.Ifthedamageissignicantdonotopenthebox.
ContactPOWERSYNCat(877)459-4591toscheduleareturnofthemoduletoPOWERSYNC.
Iflongtermbatterystorageisnecessary,pleasechargeanddischargethebatteryatleastonceeverythree
monthstoensurethebestperformance.Theoptimalstateofchargeforstorageisbetween50%and60%DOD.
Pleaseusethebatteryinthetemperaturerangewhichdenedinthemanual.

Afterremovingthebatterymodulefromthebox,inspecteachbatterymoduletoensurethatthereisno
damage.
ThePOWERSYNCbatterymodulesaresuppliedwithamainpowerswitchonthefrontofthebattery.
Master Switch
EnsurethattheMainSwitchonthefrontofthebatterymoduleisintheoffposition.Removetheterminalcaps.
Usingamultimeter,testtheterminals.Thevoltageshouldreadzero“0V”.
TurntheMainSwitchtothe“ON”position.Usingamultimeter,testtheterminals.Thevoltageshouldreada
voltageofgreaterthan10V.
TurntheMainSwitchtothe“OFF”position.Usingamultimeter,testtheterminalstoensurethatthevoltageis
onceagainreadingzero“0V”.
PERFORM ALL INSTALLATION AND MAINTENANCE AND CABLE CONNECTIONS WITH THE MAIN SWITCH IN THE “OFF”
POSITION.

Properinstallationofanequipmentgroundingterminalmustbemadeandtherackmustbegroundedin
accordancewithNFPA70,“NationalElectricalCode,”andtheapplicablesectionsofANSIC2,“NationalElectrical
SafetyCode”.
Whenusingarackingenclosure,agroundcanbeappliedtoanypartoftherackingframe.Iftheframeis
painted,removethepaintbeforeattachingagroundingcable.

1. Priortoloadinganybatterymodules,ensurethattheenclosureiscapableofsupportingtheentireweightof
allbatterymodules.Theapproximateweightofeachbatterymodulesis108lbs.
2. Providetheminimumspacingbetweentheaccessories/componentsandthehousingthatshallbe
maintainedforsafeoperationoftheequipmentwheninstalledinaccordancewiththeNationalElectric
Code,ANSI/NFPA70.
3. Asappropriate,allwiringandequipmentshouldbeinstalledinaccordancewithNFPA70,“NationalElectrical
Code,”andtheapplicablesectionsofANSIC2,“NationalElectricalSafetyCode.”
4. Theequipmentshallbeinstalledbytrainedservicepersonnel.Allpartssuchasscrews,bolts,wiringand
similarpartsthatarerequiredtocompletetheassemblyshallbeprovided.Assemblyinstructionsshallbe
providedintheInstallationInstructions.
5. Priortoloadinganyequipmentintotherackuselevelerstoleveltheenclosure.

ARE IN THE OFF POSITION.
WHEN MORE THAN ONE MODULES ARE CONNECTED USING THE TERMINAL TO TERMINAL
CONNECTIONS AS DESCRIBED IN SECTION 4.3.2, CURRENT CAN FLOW FROM MODULE TO
MODULE IF ONE OF THE MODULE BREAKERS IS IN THE ON POSITION

DONOTCONNECTAPOSITIVETERMINALONONEBATTERYTO
THENEGATIVETERMINALONTHEADJACENTBATTERY.
Therearetwopositiveandtwonegativeterminal
connectorsonthemodule.A400Abusbarconnectsthe
positiveandthenegativeterminalsontheinsideofeach
batterymodule.
BLACK TERMINAL = NEGATIVE
ORANGE / RED TERMINAL = POSITIVE
Reviewyouinverterinstallationmanualpriorto
connectingthebatterymodulestotheinverter.
Donotturnonthemasterswitchonanyofthebatteries
untilallconnectionshavebeencompletedandthe
batterytoggleswitcheshavebeenprogrammed
accordingtosection“Section 5. Module Communication
Settings” on page 19.
4. 2. 2. MODULE TERMINAL CONNECTIONS
WheninstallingthemoduleswithPOWERSYNCenclosures
theappropriatemoduletomoduleconnectorswillbe
provided.Ifyourmodulesarebeinginstalledwitha
thirdpartyenclosureorbatteryracking,we recommend
using a 2/0 welding cable for the module to module
connections.
Themodulethatisconnectedtotheinverterisalways
the“HOST”module.Itisrecommendedtoconnectthe
batteriesasseeninFigure2.
1. ConnecttheP1terminalonthehostmoduletothe
positiveterminalontheinverter.ThetheN1terminal
oftheHOSTcanbeconnectedtothenegative
terminalontheinverter.Alternatively,theN2terminal
onthelastmoduleinthestackcanbeconnectedto
thenegativeterminalontheinverter.
2. StartingwiththeHostbattery,connecttheP-2
terminalontheHostbatterywiththeP-1terminalon
SubModule1.ConnecttheN2terminalontheHost
batterywiththeN-1terminalonSubModule1.
