M-Force User Guide 2
2:1.Welcome
Congratulations on your purchase of the Powersoft
M-Force.
We know you are eager to use M-Force, but please take
a moment to read this guide, the safety instructions and
Section: Important notes (p. 10). In case you have any
questions, please do not hesitate to contact your dealer or
Powersoft.
M-Force is an innovative and unique transducer based
on a patented moving magnet linear motor structure.
Unbelievable performance in terms of power handling,
electromagnetic conversion, reliability and maximum SPL
are a few of the incredible features and improvements with
respect to conventional moving coil arrangement.
The M-Force is a true paradigm shift from the old and
fashionable coil and cone. Unlike conventional loudspeak-
ers M-Force’s moving magnet motor is a genuine push-pull
motor where magnetic elds interactions guarantee linearity
in power requirement versus moving element displacement.
This, coupled to the the fact that no electical conductors
are present in the motor’s moving parts, brings forth high
efciency of the transducer: the moving magnet linear
motor ensures high force factor yielding negligible power
compression and very low input impedance.
With respect to conventional loudspeakers, M-Force
drives less power from the amplier to reach high audio per-
formance, high SPL and low distortion; robust and reliable,
its performance withstand years of abuse and operation.
M-Force has been designed with an eye to the environ-
ment: high power efciency, high thermal inertia, low usage
of Neodymium (at equal SPL in comparison to conventional
design) are distinctive features of the Powersoft’s Green
Audio philosophy.
2:2.Unpacking& checking for shipping damage

FIGURE 1: Main assembly: M-Force 01/02 Engine Kit

Installation instructions 4
Once the cabinet for the M-Force based loudspeaker
has been realized, its time to assemble the motor and the
diaphragm.
Accurate system alignment and proper fastening solu-
tions of the motor and the diaphragm have to be carefully
performed in order to guarantee optimal assembly.
The installation inside the cabinet can be performed in
six steps:
1. fasten the brackets to the cabinet;
2. fasten the motor to the brackets;
3. plug the motor to the amplier;
4. position the diaphragm on the cabinet and verify the
alignment between its vertex to the motor hub;
5. fasten the diaphragm’s vertex to the motor;
6. fasten the diaphragm surround to the cabinet.
4:1.Fasten the brackets to the cabinet
Tight tolerances of brackets positioning guarantee
proper alignment of the motor to the diaphragm.
Powersoft provides optional brackets for placement of
the motor with respect to the mounting surface.
4:2.Fasten the motor to the brackets
Fix the M-Force to the brackets by tightly screwing the
12 M8x14 hex socket head cap screws (6 per side).
Set the M-Force position inside the cabinet so that its
hub is properly aligned to the diaphragm’s vertex expected
position. Take care to:
correct tilt errors;
set the proper position of the hub with respect the
diaphragm’s vertex expected position (consider the
compression of the rim’s gasket).
FIGURE 3: Mounting point for fixing
the motor to the brackets.

4:3.Plug the motor to the amplifier
Take care to match the polarity while plugging the ampli-
er to the M-Force. Ensure that engine polarity matches the
DPC sensor position within the cabinet (refer to the M-Drive
User Guide for more in-depth information).
Polarity mismatch may lead to phase cancellation in
multiway systems, yielding to a wrong frequency response
and poor performances. If reversing the signal polarity is
needed when alighning the cabinets to the system, do it via
DSP, before the amp stage.
The four poles connector on the connector plate ac-
cepts a 10 mm, 1 ROW, 4P housing.
Crimp the terminal on the wire securely and install the
terminals in the housing.
4:4.Verify the alignment of the diaphragm
Place the diaphragm into the cabinet and take care that
it ts the bafe cutout and perfectly lies on its the surface.
No room must be left between the diaphragm an the surface
in order to properly center and x it.
Placing a neoprene foam in between the diaphragm and
the cabinet ensures good sealing and prevent air leakage.
Do not fasten the diaphragm to the
cabinet before having fitted and perfectly
aligned its vertex to the motor’s hub.
Misalignments could bring forth system instability, dis-
tortions and possibly damages.
The exact matching between the diaphragm and the
M-Force’s hub shall guarantee no tensions and displace-
ments at the rest position of the system.

Important notes 5
5:1.Preset HPF
In order to avoid damages to the mobile equipment, we
recommend to set a 15 Hz (at least) High Pass Filter on the
input signal path.
Since the M-Force is characterized by a very low load
impedance, any unwanted DC or low-end content would
pass through the motor to the diaphragm: without an input
HPF this would cause damages to the moving parts.
5:2.No mechanical load
It is highly recommended to limit motor excitation when
the same is not properly connected to a mechanical load.
5:3.Nuts tightening torque
We recommend to use a torque wrench in order to apply
the proper 15 N/m tightening torque.
We suggest to block the hub by means of an adjustable
wrench to avoid to twist the hub during assembly.
5:4.Engine diaphragm spacer nut
The ME001363.01 spacer, found in the spare part kit,
is a special spacer nut that mates the diaphragmn damper
onto the engine. It must be placed rounded side rst into
the diaphragm and torqued to 15 N/m my holding the shaft
as inllusrtated in paragraph 4.4.1.
5:5.Rim and baffle cutout diameters
In order to avoid mechanical interference and provide
the right tightening force to the diaphragm, respect the
tolerance for the internal diameter of the rim and the bafe.
Rounding off the edge of the cut drastically reduces the
stress of the components.
5:6.Thermal considerations
The M-Force is characterized by high thermal inerthia.
This results in a slower variation of the body temperature
during normal operation: the motor appears to stay at low
temperature for long time (expecially during benchmark
tests), but after hours of operation, the system may reach
very high temperatures, making the heat transfer to the sur-
rounding environment an issue.
As any other traditional transducer, it is highly recom-
mended to favor the ventilation of the motor of the M-Force,
taking advantage of the air ow by the diaphragm and/or
exploiting the ventilation offered by the ducts of the cabinet.
When achievable, take into account congurations
where the motor is positioned outside the cabinet.
Note: The optional mounting brackets provided by
Powersoft are made of high thermal conductive Aluminium:
giving the fastening spots, this helps the heat transfer from
the M-Force motor.
Powersoft recommends to mount the M-Force
in a well ventilated position by means of
high thermal conductive brackets.
5:7.Mechanical strength of the cabinet
The M-Force is capable to produce very high static and
dynamic mechanical stresses to the cabinet. Two main ef-
fect must be taken into account:
the internal sound pressure produced by the
movement of the diaphragm can rise up to 100 g/cm2
(9,8 kPa - 204,8 psf): this pressure dynamically
stresses the cabinet boundaries;
the anchor points of the brackets to the cabinet are
highly stressed by the applied reactive force: take
into account to strengthen the overall structure and
properly tighten the fastening spots.
5:8.Mechanical balancing
The design of the cabinet shall take into account the
dynamic balancing of the center of mass of the M-Force
and diaphragm assembly.
Stating the high moving mass it is very important to
place the (moving) center of mass of the M-Force as close
as possible to the (static) center of mass of the cabinet.
This will reduce vibration and torque that make the cabinet
instable.
5:9.Acoustic load balancing
The diaphragm is subjected to high acoustic load. In
order to limit cone rocking it is highly recommended to
design the system so that the diaphragm is symmetrically
acoustic loaded.
