Important User Information
KNOW YOUR DISINFECTANT’S
ACTIVE INGREDIENTS
For the purpose of safely using this sprayer, you need to know what kind of active ingredients are in the disinfectant.
Look on the container label for the list of active ingredients. There are two categories:
ALCOHOL: This type of disinfectant contains flammable active ingredients such as ethanol (ethyl alcohol)
or isopropanol (IPA). The container label should indicate that this material is COMBUSTIBLE or
FLAMMABLE. Your sprayer is compatible with this type of material. Use flammable materials in a
well-ventilated area with a flow of fresh air. See the safety warnings in this manual.
NON-ALCOHOL: This type of disinfectant contains active ingredients such as aldehydes, phenols,
quaternary ammonium compounds, sodium hypochlorite (bleach), peroxyacetic acid, hydrogen peroxide,
and hypochlorous acid. Your sprayer is compatible with this type of material.
Before using your disinfectant
sprayer, read this manual for
complete instructions on proper use
and safety warnings.
You must also read and follow the information
on the disinfectant container label and ask for
a Safety Data Sheet (SDS) from your supplier.
The container label and SDS will explain the
contents of the material, instructions for use
and the specific precautions related to the
contents of the material. Those precautions
include personal protective equipment (PPE).
The sprayer is designed to spray
disinfectants that are water-based
and clean up with water.

Warnings
The following warnings are for the setup, use, grounding, maintenance, and repair of this equipment. The
exclamation point symbol alerts you to a general warning and the hazard symbols refer to procedure-specific risks.
When these symbols appear in the body of this manual or on warning labels, refer back to these Warnings.
Product-specific hazard symbols and warnings not covered in this section may appear throughout the body of this
manual where applicable.
WARNING
CHEMICAL HAZARD
Toxic disinfectant or fumes can cause serious injury or death if splashed in the eyes or on skin,
inhaled, or swallowed.
• Keep away from children.
• Use only to spray surfaces. Do not spray people or animals.
• Use only with appropriate personal protective equipment. See PERSONAL PROTECTIVE
EQUIPMENT on page 5.
• Follow all directions and requirements on disinfectant label. It is a violation of Federal law to use
an EPA-approved disinfectant in a manner inconsistent with its labeling.
• Flush with water after each use. Never store disinfectant in equipment.
• Read Safety Data Sheets (SDSs) to know the specific hazards of the disinfectants you are using.
• Store and dispose of disinfectants according to instructions on disinfectant container labels.
FIRE AND EXPLOSION HAZARD
Flammable fumes, such as disinfectants, in work area can ignite or explode. Disinfectants flowing
through the equipment can cause static sparking. To help prevent fire and explosion:
• Keep sprayer area well-ventilated. Keep a good supply of fresh air moving through the area.
• Do not spray flammable disinfectants near an open flame or sources of ignition such as cigarettes,
motors, and electrical equipment.
• Ground all equipment in the work area. Connect to a grounded outlet and use grounded extension
cords. See Grounding instructions.
• Never spray or flush disinfectant at high pressure.
• Keep work area free of debris, including disinfectant containers, rags and gasoline.
• Do not plug or unplug power cords, or turn power or light switches on or off when flammable fumes
are present.
• Use only grounded hoses.
• Hold gun firmly to side of grounded pail when triggering into pail. Do not use pail liners unless they
are anti-static or conductive.
•Stop operation immediately if static sparking occurs or you feel a shock.Do not use equipment
until you identify and correct the problem.
• Keep a working fire extinguisher in the work area.

ELECTRIC SHOCK HAZARD
This equipment must be grounded. Improper grounding, setup, or usage of the system can cause
electric shock.
• Turn off and disconnect power cord before servicing equipment.
• Connect only to grounded electrical outlets.
• Use only 3-wire extension cords.
• Ensure ground prongs are intact on power and extension cords.
• Do not expose to rain. Store indoors.
EQUIPMENT MISUSE HAZARD
Misuse can cause death or serious injury.
• Do not operate or spray near children. Keep children away from equipment at all times.
• Do not operate the unit when fatigued or under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
• Do not exceed the maximum working pressure or temperature rating of the lowest rated system
component. See Technical Specifications in all equipment manuals.
• Use disinfectants that are compatible with equipment wetted parts. See Technical Specifications
in all equipment manuals. Read disinfectant manufacturer’s warnings. For complete information
about your disinfectant, request Safety Data Sheets (SDSs) from distributor or retailer.
• Do not leave the work area while equipment is energized or under pressure.
• Turn off all equipment and follow the Repair procedure when equipment is not in use.
• Check equipment daily. Repair or replace worn or damaged parts immediately with genuine
manufacturer’s replacement parts only.
• Do not alter or modify equipment. Alterations or modifications may void agency approvals and
create safety hazards.
• Make sure all equipment is rated and approved for the environment in which you are using it.
• Use equipment only for its intended purpose. Call your distributor for information.
• Route hoses and cables away from traffic areas, sharp edges, moving parts, and hot surfaces.
• Do not kink or over bend hoses or use hoses to pull equipment.
• Comply with all applicable safety regulations.
MOVING PARTS HAZARD
Moving parts can pinch, cut or amputate fingers and other body parts.
• Keep clear of moving parts.
• Do not operate equipment with protective guards or covers removed.
• Equipment can start without warning. Before checking, moving, or servicing equipment, follow the
Repair procedure and disconnect all power sources.
PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT
Wear appropriate protective equipment when in the work area to help prevent serious injury,
including eye injury, burns, hearing loss, and inhalation of disinfectant chemical mists and vapors.
Protective equipment includes but is not limited to:
• Protective eye-wear, and hearing protection.
• Appropriate respirators, protective clothing, and gloves.
• All protective equipment specified by the disinfectant manufacturer.

Repair
Prepare the Motor for Repair
Before performing any service or repair on the motor,
always follow the steps below:
1. Follow the Flushing and Cleaning procedure and
the
Pressure Relief Procedure in your sprayer
manual. Ensure the pump has stopped at the bottom
of its stroke. See
Related Manuals on page 2.
2. Verify that the sprayer power switch is turned off and
the power cord is unplugged.

1. Follow the Prepare the Motor for Repair procedure.
2. Follow the
Disconnect the Pump procedure in your
pump repair manual.
3. Drain the oil from the motor (A). See
Change the Oil
on page 19 .
4. Reinstall the oil drain plug (15). Torque to 18-23 ft-lb
(25-30 N•m).
5. Unscrew the shaft bearing assembly (14) from the
motor (A). See
Parts , page 20.
6. Install the new shaft bearing assembly (14). Torque to
175-200 ft-lb (240-280 N•m).
7. Fill the motor (A) with oil. See Change the Oil on
page
19 .
8. Reconnect the pump (B) to the motor. See your Pump
manual.
The pump remains pressurized until pressure is
manually relieved. To help prevent serious injury from
pressurized fluid, such as skin injection, disinfectant
splashing and moving parts, follow the Pressure
Relief Procedure detailed in your sprayer manual. To
prevent electric shock, turn off the sprayer and unplug
the power cord. To avoid tipping over, make sure the
cart is on a flat and level surface. Failure to do so
could result in injury, such as crushing. Follow the
Prepare the Motor for Repair procedure before
performing any repair procedure.

NOTICE
1. Follow the Prepare the Motor for Repair procedure
on page 8.
2. Remove the two screws (6) and washers (7). Remove
the junction box cover (5) from the motor (A) to gain
access to the disconnect block. Gently pull out the
fuse holder.
3. Unscrew the fuse holder (FH), remove the old fuse,
and replace it with a new 5 mm x 20 mm, 500 mA,
250V, Slow Blow fuse (Graco part 116682).
Reconnect the fuse holder and tighten into place.
4. Repeat step 4 with the second fuse.
5. Tuck the wires back into the junction box (S), around
the disconnect block (DB), and reinstall the junction
box with two screws (6) and washers (7).
Make sure all wires are positioned inside the junction
box and around the disconnect block before
installation. If the wires get pinched when the junction
box screws are tightened, damage will occur.

1. Follow the Prepare the Motor for Repair procedure
on page 8.
2. Remove the two screws (6) and washers (7). Remove
the junction box cover (5) from the motor (A) to gain
access to the disconnect block (DB).
3. Loosen the screws for 1L1 and 5L3 and gently
remove the wires from each location.
4. Use a wire cutter to cut the ferrule tips from the fan
wires and cut the motor power wires close to the
ferrules.
NOTE: Do not cut the tip off of the ground wire (GW).
5. Remove the grounding screw (GS) and disconnect
the green grounding wire coming out of the fan cord
grip (C1) attached to the motor (A), not the junction
box.
6. Loosen the fan cord grip (C1) attached to the motor
(A) and pull out the fan wires.
7. Remove the screws that attach the fan assembly (FA)
to the motor (A). Pull up on the end farthest from the
junction box. Slide the assembly toward the junction
box to remove the fan assembly.

8. Install the new fan assembly (FA). To reattach the fan
assembly, slide it into the slots for tabs located on the
junction box side and gently push down the far end of
the assembly. Apply thread locker and use the
supplied fasteners (FS) and washers to secure the
assembly into place. Torque to 15 - 20 ft-lb (20 - 27
N•m).
9. Route the wires through the fan cord grip (C1)
attached to the motor (A), not the junction box (S).
10. Reattach the ground wire to the grounding screw
(GS). Tighten the ground screw.
11. Use a ferrule to connect each fan wire to one of the
two wires coming out of the motor grommet. Then
attach one wire set into the disconnect box location
1L1 and the other wire into location 3L2.
12. Gently tuck the wires back into junction box around
the disconnect block (DB), then reinstall the junction
box cover (5). Replace the two screws (6) and
washers (7), then tighten.
13. Tighten the fan cord grip (C1) attached directly to the
motor.
Make sure all wires are positioned inside the cover
before installation. If the wires get pinched when the
cover screws are tightened, damage will occur.

1. Follow the Prepare the Motor for Repair procedure
on page 8.
2. Remove the pump (B) from the sprayer. See your
Pump manual.
NOTE: This is required to complete the Calibration
procedure (see page 16).
3. Remove the two screws (6) and remove the junction
box cover (5).
4. Loosen the cord screws on the disconnect block (DB)
and the disconnect wires from locations 1L1 and 5L3.
NOTE: The power cord cables (excluding the
ground wire) may remain attached.
5. Unscrew the ground screws from the fan and power
cord ground wires.
6. Use a wire cutter to cut the ferrule tips from the fan
wires and motor power wires.
NOTE: Cut the wires as
close to the ferrules as possible. Do not cut the tip off
of the ground wires.

7. Use an adjustable wrench to loosen the fan cord grip
(C1).
8. Pull the fan wires out through the cord grip.
9. Remove the four bolts (20) and washers, gasket (52),
and the junction box sleeve (101).
10. Remove the twelve screws (20) and washers from the
electronics cover (50).
11. Carefully tilt the electronics cover (50) down.
12. Pull the wire connectors down and out of the harness
clip, then disconnect the motor power and motor
temperature wires (MW).
13. Disconnect the stroke position sensor wire (SW).
All wires must be disconnected before the cover is
completely removed. Hold the cover in place while
disconnecting the wires or let the cover rest on a work
surface to avoid damaging the wires and connections.

1. Install the new cover gasket (54) included in the
electronics cover kit. Reconnect all wires.
2. Install the electronics cover (50) and tighten all twelve
screws (20). Torque to 15-20 ft-lb (20-27 N•m).
3. Install the new junction box gasket (52).
4. Route the fan cable through the fan cord grip.
5. Connect the stripped fan wire to the motor wire and
crimp the wires together.
6. Connect the fan ground wire.
7. Use an adjustable wrench to tighten the fan cord grip
(C1).
8. Install the gasket (52), junction box sleeve (101), and
tighten the four bolts (20).
9. Install the junction box cover (5) and tighten the two
screws (6).
10. Install the wires into the disconnect switch (51) and
tighten the wire screws.
NOTE: The pump must be removed from the
system in order to calibrate correctly. The calibration
stroke length is longer than the operating stroke.
Leaving the pump attached will cause the motor rod
to contact the pump rod and it will not calibrate
correctly.
11. Plug in the power cord (Z), then turn on the sprayer
power switch (E).
Make sure all wires are positioned inside the cover
before installation. If the wires get pinched when the
cover screws are tightened, damage will occur.

Calibration
NOTE: The motor (A) must be de-coupled from the
pump and must be able to cycle freely with no
obstructions.

1. Cycle power to the motor by first turning the sprayer
power switch (E) to OFF, and then to ON again.
2. Wait for the status indicator LED (L) to turn on solid or
start blinking.
3. Within 30 seconds, rapidly turn the pressure
adjustment knob (H) back and forth from 0 to 10 at
least five times and then set the knob back to 0. If the
status indicator LED (L) was solid before, it will begin
blinking an encoder calibration error (code 8) during
the calibration process.
4. The motor shaft (MS) will run up and down slowly
over the course of several minutes.
5. Midway through the auto-calibration process, the
motor shaft (MS) will pause as it moves to the next
step.
6. The motor shaft (MS) will rapidly move up and down
5-6 times.
7. Make sure the auto-calibration process is complete
before continuing. Wait for the status indicator LED
(L) to stop blinking.

2. Remove the electronics cover. See Replace
Electronics Cover
on page 12.
3. Remove the twelve screws (20) and washers from

electronics cover (50).
4. Carefully tilt the electronics cover (50) down.
5. Check the token wire (TW) connections. Replace the
wire if it is damaged.
NOTE: Make sure the token wire connection is
positioned with the wires facing the bottom of the
sprayer.
6. Install the cover (50) and tighten the twelve screws
(20) and washers. Torque to 15-20 ft-lb (20-27 N•m).
7. Connect the power cord (Z).
NOTICE
All wires must be disconnected before the cover is
completely removed. Hold the cover in place while
disconnecting the wires or let the cover rest on a work
surface to avoid damaging the wires and connections.
Make sure all wires are positioned inside the cover
before installation. If wires get pinched when the cover
screws are tightened, damage will occur.

1. Follow the Prepare the Motor for Repair procedure
on page 8.
2. Remove the two screws (6) and washers (7). Then
remove the junction box cover (5) from the motor to
gain access to the token slot.
3. Insert and press the token firmly into the token slot
(TS).
NOTE: The token has no preferred orientation.

4. Tuck the wires back into the junction box (101) and
reinstall the junction box cover (5) with the two screws
(6) and washers (7).
5. Plug in the sprayer and turn the power on.
6. The red indicator light (L) will flash while the software
is being loaded (approximately 30 seconds). When
the software is completely loaded, the red light will
turn off for four seconds before the software version
flashes. Then a solid light will remain on.
NOTE: Whenever the unit is powered on and the
token is present in the token slot, the indicator light
will flash the three series software code one time.
Example: 1.02.003 would be one blink, a pause, two
blinks, as pause, then three blinks. Normal
operation will resume after the software version
displays.

7. Turn off the sprayer power switch (E) and unplug the
power cord (Z).
8. Remove the two screws (6) and washers (7). Then
remove the junction box cover (5) from the motor to
gain access to the token slot.
Make sure all wires are positioned inside the cover
before installation. If wires get pinched when the cover
screws are tightened, damage will occur.

9. Remove the token from the token slot (TS).
10. Tuck the wires back into the junction box (101) and
reinstall the junction box cover (5) with the two screws
(6) and washers (7).
NOTE: The latest software version for each system can
be found by searching “Software Version Change
History for 273199” at Graco Technical Support. Contact
a technical support representative before upgrading.
Change the Oil
NOTE: Change the oil after a break-in period of
approximately 250 hours of use. After the break-in
period, change the oil once a year.

1.
Turn off the sprayer power switch (E) and unplug the
power cord (Z).
2. Place a minimum 2 quart (1.9 liter) container under
the oil drain port. Remove the oil drain plug (15) and
allow all oil to drain from the motor.
3. Reinstall the oil drain plug (15). Torque to 18–23 ft-lb
(25–30 N•m).
4. Position the sprayer on a level surface. Fill until the oil
level is near the halfway point of the sight glass (BB).
The oil capacity is approximately 1.0–1.2 quarts (0.9–
1.1 liters). Do not overfill.
5. Reinstall the oil fill cap (P).
Make sure all wires are positioned inside the cover
before installation. If the wires get pinched when the
cover screws are tightened, damage will occur.
Do not over-torque. The drain plug can become
stripped and damaged.
Only use Graco oil (part number 16W645) in this
sprayer. Any other oil may not lubricate properly and
can cause damage to the drive train.
