IMPORTANT
Installer and Users please note:
These instructions should be read carefully and left with the
user of the product for future reference.
BEFORE USE
You must inspect the product including its cable and plug for
any signs of damage. If the product is damaged, DO NOT
use it, and contact your supplier immediately.
PRODUCT SAFETY
•
This appliance is not intended for use by persons (including
children) with reduced physical, sensory or mental
capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge, unless
they have been given supervision or instruction concerning
use of the appliance by a person responsible for their safety.
•
Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not
play with the appliance
•
Place the EH1144 on a firm flat surface. Ensure that the air
outlet (at the top) is not obstructed.
•
Do not place on soft surfaces.
•
Do not move the unit whilst it is operating. Disconnect from
the mains supply before moving.
•
For indoor use only.
•
Do not use in bathrooms, or in wet or damp locations.
•
Do not place the mains lead beneath a carpet or rug.
•
Do not pour water into the vapour outlet vent.
•
Do not clean the water tank with detergents or bleach
•
Do not place the unit in direct sunlight, or close to a source
of heat.
•
Do not leave water in the tank if the unit is not in use (this

encourages the growth of bacteria)
•
Do not obstruct the air intake and exhaust vents
•
Do not allow the cable to hang over the edge of a table.
•
Arrange the cable so that it cannot cause a trip hazard.
•
Do not allow the appliance to tip over if there is water in the
tank. GENERAL SAFETY REQUIREMENTS
Domestic wiring must be tested periodically by a qualified
electrician at least once every 10 years or at every change of
occupancy.
For office and retail premises, and buildings such as village
halls, the wiring must be inspected at least once every 5
years.
It is recommended that all building be fitted with smoke
alarms (it is mandatory for new buildings).
OPERATION
To fill the water tank:
Remove the nozzle from the vapour outlet vent.
Remove the water tank (by lifting the handle labelled
"humidifier") vertically upwards.
Turn the tank upside down, and unscrew the lid.
Fill the tank with cold water.
Replace the lid, making sure that it is screwed down tightly.
Replace the tank in the humidifier
Replace the nozzle on the outlet vent.
To operate:
Plug the mains lead into a 13 Amp mains socket.
If connecting via an extension lead, make sure that the lead
is rated at 3 Amps or more, and that it is fully unwound.
To operate the unit, press the ON/OFF button. (Press it again

to switch the unit off)
Press the MODE button to select the moisture output: Mode I
is on constantly, Mode II is on for 1 minute and off for 1
minute, Mode III is on for 1 minute and off for 3 minutes.
If the "EMPTY" indicator lights, then fill the tank as above.
Unplug from the mains, empty the water tank and thoroughly
dry, when not in use.
Timer:
The humidifier can be set to switch off after a period of time
up to 7 hours. Press the TIMER button repeatedly until the
required number of hours is shown on the LEDs.
Ioniser:
To add negative ions to the mist, press the "NEGATIVE ION"
button.
OPERATING COSTS
At time of going to press, the average cost of electricity is
£0.11 per unit (kilowatt-hour). The amount you are being
charged will be shown on your electricity bill.
At this cost, the EH1144 will cost £0.08 per day to run.
MAINTENANCE
Cleaning:
Clean the outside of the unit with a soft damp cloth, with a
drop of washing-up liquid.
To clean the tank:
Remove the tank from the unit and empty out any water.
Rinse the tank with a dilute solution of white vinegar. This will
remove any lime deposits and kill bacteria. Rinse well before
use.

To clean the transducer:
The ultrasonic transducer will become less effective if it is not
kept clean. To clean the transducer, remove the water tank.
The transducer will be visible as a brass disc, about 15mm in
diameter. Using the brush provided, and a dilute solution of
white vinegar, clean the disc.
If the mains lead is damaged, it must be replaced by the
manufacturer or an authorised service centre. If the mains
plug needs to be replaced, proceed
as follows:

Connect the brown wire to the
terminal labelled "L".
•
Connect the blue wire to the
terminal labelled "N".
•
Make sure that the cord-grip is
positioned correctly (over the outer
sheath of the cable) and it fully
tightened.

If the plug is supplied with a 13A fuse, replace it with a 3A

FAULT-FINDING
Mist and humidity are not produced:
Check that the power indicator is illuminated. If not, check
that the mains plug is fully inserted into the mains socket and
that the mains socket is functional.
Check that the mode is not switched to Mode II or Mode III
(which have periods when no mist is produced)
Check that the water tank is correctly installed, and that the
spring-plunger in the filling cap moves freely when pressed.
A stream of air is produced, but no humidity:
If there is still no humidity produced, remove the water tank,
and empty any water from the main body of the unit. Replace
the water tank and try again.
If this does not solve the problem, clean the transducer as
described in the "Maintenance" section.
Mist has a bad smell:
Clean the tank, and the transducer as described in the
"maintenance" section.
PAT TESTING.
When used in a workplace, this product must be safety-
tested yearly by a qualified electrician (PAT Tested) in order
to comply with the Electricity at Work Regulations.
We recommend that it is PAT tested regularly when used in a
domestic environment.

DISPOSAL AND RECYCLING
You must not dispose of this appliance with domestic
household waste.
Most local authorities have specific collection system for
appliances and disposal is free of charge to the end-user.
When replacing an existing appliance with a similar new
appliance your retailer may take the old appliance for
disposal.

SERVICE WARRANTY
Prem-i-Air guarantees the product free from defects in
materials and workmanship for a period of one year.
Should this unit be operated under conditions other than
those recommended, at voltages other than the voltage
indicated on the unit, or any attempts made to service or
modify the unit, then the warranty will be rendered void.
The product you buy may sometimes differ slightly from
illustrations. This warranty is in addition to, and does not
affect, your statutory rights.
