Gauge Calibration
The indicator needle should always rest within the rectangular calibration
area. If this is not the case, your gauge needs to be recalibrated to within
3mmHg when compared to a certied reference standard.
!Note: The gauge is still
fully calibrated even
if the needle is on the
line of the calibration
recatagle.

The cu should be placed over the bare upper arm with the bladder side
over the brachial artery.
Position the bottom edge of the cu at approximately one inch above
the antecubital fold.
Wrap the fabric portion of the cu around the arm snugly and smoothly,
engaging the adhesive system (hook-and-loop). All Prestige Medical®
cus have index and range markings to ensure an accurate t.

The patient should sit or lie comfortably so that the arm is rmly
supported at heart level. The observer should be sure to have a view of
the manometer in a direct line to avoid parallax error (i.e. a mis-reading
due to skewed visual perception).
Position of the Patient
Place the stethoscope chest piece in the antecubital region just below
the bottom edge of the cu using the bell side if it is a combination
stethoscope. Do not place the chest piece all the way under the cu as
this will prevent an accurate measurement.

•Turn the thumbscrew clockwise to close the air release valve.
•Palpate the radial artery while quickly inating the cu.
•Inate cu to 20 to 30mmHg above the point at which the radial pulse
disappears.
Cuff Inflation
Open the air release valve (turn counterclockwise), allowing the cu to
deate gradually at the rate of 2-3mmHg/second.

!Never inate the cu past 300mmHg. This will damage the
gauge and void the warranty.

Record the onset of Korotko sounds (systolic pressure) and their
disappearance (diastolic pressure).
Measurement
For greatest accuracy this instrument should be used in a
temperature range between 50°F (10°C) and 104°F (40°C).
Use in temperatures outside of that range may result in an
inaccurate reading.
Do not allow inated cu to remain on the patient for
longer than 10 minutes. This may cause patient distress
and injury related to restricted blood circulation.

Cu and Nylon Case:
Wipe with a damp sponge or cloth. If necessary, wash in cool water with
mild soap. Remove bladder prior to washing. Rinse & air dry. Do not iron.
Bladder and Bulb:
Wipe with a damp sponge or cloth. To protect from cracking or
discoloring, wipe with a soft cloth moistened with ethanol.
Valve and Gauge:
Clean with a soft dry cloth. NEVER disassemble the gauge!

!When connecting (or disconnecting) the tube to the gauge,
simply push (or pull) the tube over the air stem. Do not twist
the tube. Twisting the tube may damage the rubber and
break the seal.

Procedimiento Para Realizar La Medición
Posición del paciente
El paciente deberá estar sentado o recostado de manera cómoda, para

vador deberá asegurarse de poder ver el manómetro en línea recta, para
evitar errores de paralaje en la lectura (es decir, una lectura equivocada

Colocación del brazalete neumático
• El brazalete neumático debe colocarse en el brazo desnudo, con el lado
de la cámara de aire sobre la arteria braquial.
• Coloque la parte inferior del brazalete neumático a aproxima damente
dos centímetros y medio (una pulgada) encima del pliegue antecubital.
• Envuelva el brazo en la parte de tela del brazalete neumático, de
manera que se sienta una compresión cómoda y suave, y ciérrela con el
sistema adhesivo. Todos los brazaletes neumáticos de Prestige Medical®
cuentan con marcas de índice y rango para asegurar un ajuste preciso.
Inado del brazalete neumático
• Gire el tornillo en el sentido de las agujas del reloj para cerrar la válvula
de desinado.
• Palpe la arteria radial al mismo tiempo que ina rápidamente el braza-
lete neumático.
• Ine el brazalete neumático de 20 a 30 mmHg por encima del punto en
el que el pulso radial desaparece.

Para mayor precisión, este instrumento deberá usarse a
una temperatura ambiente que oscile entre los 10°C (50°F)
y 40°C (104°F). Su uso en temperaturas fuera de ese rango
podría dar como resultado lecturas poco precisas.
No permita que el brazalete neumático inado permanezca
en el brazo del paciente durante más de 10 minutos. Esto
podría ocasionarle molestias al paciente y hasta lesiones
relacionadas con la restricción de la circulación sanguínea.

Colocación del estetoscopio
Coloque la parte plana del estetoscopio en la región antecubital por debajo
del borde inferior del brazalete neumático, usando el lado de la campana
si se trata de un estetoscopio de combinación. No coloque el estetoscopio
debajo del brazalete neumático, ya que esto evitaría que la lectura fuera
precisa.
Desinado del brazalete neumático
Abra la válvula y permita que el brazalete neumático se desine gradual-
mente a una velocidad de 2-3 mmHg/segundo.
Medición
Registre el inicio de los ruidos de Korotko (presión sistólica) y su desa-
parición (presión diastólica).

Calibración Del Instrumento
La aguja del indicador deberá descansar
siempre dentro del área rectangular de
calibración. De no ser así, su aparato
necesita recalibrarse a 3 mmHg cuando
se compara con el estándar de referencia
certicado. Si se requiere una recalibración
consulte la documentación de su garantía
y las instrucciones de devolución que se
incluyen en este paquete.
Limpieza y Mantenimiento
Brazalete neumático y estuche de nylon: Límpiense con un paño
o esponja húmedos. Si es necesario, pueden lavarse en agua fría con
un jabón suave. Retire la cámara de aire antes de lavar el brazalete
neumático. Enjuague y deje secar al aire. No planchar.
Cámara de aire y perilla: Límpiense con un paño o esponja húmedos.
Para protegerlas y evitar que se agrieten o se decoloren, límpielas con un
paño suave humedecido con alcohol.
Válvula y manómetro: La válvula y el manómetro pueden limpiarse
con un paño suave y seco. ¡JAMÁS DESARME EL MANÓMETRO!

Warranty Information
Lifetime Warranty on the Gauge:
If your manometer gauge is out of adjustment during normal use (the needle
is outside the calibration rectangle or oval), Prestige Medical® will replace the
gauge for the lifetime of the unit. Excludes some models (see below for details).
5 Year Warranty on the Unit:
Your aneroid sphygmomanometer is warranted against defects in
manufacturing during normal use by the original purchaser for 5 years.
