This Remote Start/Alarm System is designed to be used with Automatic Transmission
Vehicles Only! The unit provides a selectable ignition control that allows a number of selectable timed outputs for
glow plug pre-heat which may be required for certain diesel vehicles, (see selectable feature #9). If the diesel
engine has a instant fire, (no glow plug pre-heat system), feature #9 should remain in the default Gasoline
modesetting.For diesel applications, consult your dealer for thetypeofignitionsystemused in your particu-
lar vehicle. Regardless of the vehicle, Gasoline or Diesel, for every installation, the vehicle MUST HAVE a
Tach Signal Input, and an Automatic Transmission.
INSTALLATION OF THE MAJOR COMPONENTS:
CONTROLMODULE:
Select a mounting location inside the passenger compartment (up behind the dashboard). The mounting
locationselected must be within24"ofthe ignition switchwiringharnessto allow connection ofthe6pin main
wiringharness.
Becertainthat the chosen location will not interfere with proper operation of the vehicle. Avoidmounting the
moduleto or routingthewiringaround the steeringshaft/column,as the moduleorwiring may wraparoundor
blockthesteeringwheelpreventing proper control of the vehicle. Secure the module in the chosen location
using cable ties or screws as necessary.
DoNotMountTheModuleInTheEngineCompartment,asitisnotwaterproof.
SIREN:
Select a location in the engine compartment that is not accessible from below the vehicle. The selected
location must be clear of hot or moving parts within the engine compartment The siren must be pointed
downward to prevent water retention and the flared end must be pointed away from and out of the engine
compartmentfor maximum sound distribution. Before securingthesiren,check behind your chosenlocation
to assure that the mounting screws will not penetrate any factory wiring or fluid lines. Secure the siren
mounting bracket using #8 self taping screws or by first using the mounting bracket as a template, scribe or
mark the mounting holes. Drill the marked holes using a 1/8" drill bit, then mount the siren using #8 sheet
metal screws.
HOODAND TRUNK PIN SWITCHES:
Thepin switches included inthispackageare intended for protectingthehoodand trunk areas ofthevehicle.
In all cases, the switch must be mounted to a grounded metal surface. When the pin switch is activated,
(hood/trunk open), it will supply a ground to the input wire activating the alarm. In addition, the hood switch
isrequired for thesafetyshut down oftheremote start unit. Ifthevehicle is beingworkedon, this hood switch
preventstheremotestartactivation even if the RF command to start is issued. This switch must be installed
in all applications Failure to do so may result in personal injury or property damage. Mount the switches in
thehoodandtrunklocationsawayfrom water drain paths. Ifnecessary, theincludedbracketsmay be used
to move the switch away from rain gutters or allow mounting to the firewall behind the hood seal. In both
cases the switch must be set up to allow the hood or trunk door to depress the switch at least 1/4 inch when
the hood or trunk is closed and fully extended when the hood or trunk is opened. For direct mounting, a 1/4
inchholemust be drilled. Carefully check behind the chosen location to insurethedrillwillnotpenetrate any
existing factory wiring or fluid lines. Drill a 1/4" hole in the desired location and thread the pin switch into it
using a 7/16" nut driver or deep well socket. If using the mounting bracket, first secure the bracket to the
desiredlocationandsecurethe pin switch in the pre-threaded mounting bracket hole.
PUSHBUTTONLED SWITCH
Select a mounting location known and accessible to the operator of the vehicle. A dash knockout plug or
front dash panel is desirable as the now Push-Button LED assembly needs the LED to be visible from the
outsideof thevehicleand willbeused forvaletmodes, programmingfeatures,programming transmitters,and
foroverridingtheremotestartunitwhenthevehicle is being serviced. Inspect behind the chosen location to
insure that adequate clearance is allowed for the body of the switch, and also that the drill will not penetrate
anyexisting factory wiringorfluidlines. Drill a 5/16"or8mm hole in thedesiredlocation and mounttheswitch
bypassing the connectors,oneata time, throughthepanelfrom the frontsideand pressing on thebezeluntil
the switch is fully seated.

THERECEIVER/ANTENNAASSEMBLY:
TheSuperheterodyne ReceiverAntennaAssemblyprovided with this unitallowsroutingfrom below the dash
boardfor maximum operatingrange. Choosea locationabovethebelt line(dashboard)ofthe vehicleforbest
reception. Special considerations must be made for windshield glass as some newer vehicles utilize a
metallic shielded window glass that will inhibit or restrict RF reception. In these vehicles, route the antenna
towardarearwindow location for best reception. Secure the antenna withdoublesticktapeprovided. After
securing the antenna with tape, we advise also securing a section of the antenna cable to a fixed support.
This will prevent the antenna from dropping down in case the double stick tape is exposed to extreme heat
which may loosen it's gummed surface. Route the 3 pin connector toward the control module using caution
not to pinch the cable as this will cause poor or no RF reception to the control module.
SHOCKSENSOR:
Select a centrally located, solid mounting surface for the shock sensor that will allow consistent operation
fromallareasof the vehicle. The selected location must be within 18" of the control module to allow routing
andconnecting of the 4pinharness. Securethe shock sensor to thechosenlocation using two #8 selftaping
sheet metal screws. The sensor can also be secured to an existing dash brace using cable tie straps.
Whichever mounting method is used be sure to allow access to the sensitivity adjustment potentiometer for
use later in the installation.
STARTERINHIBIT RELAY:
Selectamountinglocationwithin 12" of the ignition switch's low current start solenoid wire. Secure the relay
toanexisting harness in the chosenlocationusingacable tie around the relay's wiringharness. Caution!Do
not wire tie the metal bracket to an existing wiring harness as vibration may cause chaffing and shorting
damagingthe factory wiring. Ifanexistingharness is notavailablethen secure therelay'smetalmounting tab
toan under dashmetalbracewitha#8 self tapingsheet metalscrew. Wiretherelay as perthediagramfound
later in this manual.
This system is to be used in vehicles with AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSIONS only! Although this combination
Alarm/RemoteStartunit is a sophisticated system with many advanced features, IT MUST NOT be installed
into a vehicle with a manually operated transmission. Doing so may result in serious personal injury and
propertydamage. IMPORTANT!
DO NOT PLUGTHE SIX PIN MAIN POWER HARNESS OR THE MULTI PIN INPUT / OUTPUT HARNESS
INTOTHECONTROLMODULEUNTILALLCONNECTIONSTOTHE VEHICLEHAVEBEENMADE. AFTER

WIRING THE 6 PIN MAIN POWER HARNESS:
Note: Do not remove the fuse holders from this wire harness. Fuses must be used and located as
close as possible to the power source for adequate protection of the vehicle.
Fused RED w/ WHITE TRACE WIRE: + 12 volt Battery 1 Source
Locate the vehicle battery wire(s) at the ignition switch. Verification: These wires will register voltage in all
positionsof the ignitionswitch. Connectthe Redw/Whitewireto thevehicle'sbattery wire. This wireprovides
power for the control circuit as well as the ignition 1 and ignition 2 relays.
Fused RED WIRE: + 12 Volt Battery 2 Source
Locate the vehicle battery wire(s) at the ignition switch. Verification: These wires will register voltage in all
positionsofthe ignition switch. Connect the Red wire to the vehicle's batterywire. Thiswireprovidespower
for the start relay and the accessory relay. IMPORTANT!

YELLOW WIRE: Starter Output
Careful consideration for the connection of this wire must be made to prevent the vehicle from
starting while in gear. Understanding the difference between a mechanical and an electrical Neu-
tral Start Switch will allow you to properly identify the circuit and select the correct installation
method. In addition you will realize why the connection of the safety wire is required for all
mechanical switch configurations.
Failureto make thisconnectionproperly can resultinpersonal injury andpropertydamage. In all installations
it is the responsibility of the installing technician to test the remote start unit and assure that the vehicle
cannot start via RF control in any gear selection other than park or neutral.
Inbothmechanical and electrical neutral startswitch configurations, the connection of theYellowwirewillbe
madetothelowcurrentstartsolenoidwireoftheignitionswitchharness. Thiswirewillhave+12voltswhen
the ignition switch is turned to the start (crank) position only. This wire will have 0 volts in all other ignition
switch positions.
Note: Thiswire must be connectedtothe vehicle sideofthestarter cut relay(whenused). Forthe electrical
neutral switch configuration, this connection must be made between the starter inhibit relay, (when
used) and the neutral safety switch as shown in the following diagram.
Failuretoconnectthiswireto the ignition switch side of the neutral safety switch can result in personal injury
andproperty damage.

BLUE Wire: Ignition 1 Output
Connectthis wire to theignition1wire from theignitionswitch. Thiswire will show +12voltswhen the ignition
keyisturned to the "ON" or"RUN"andthe"START"orCRANK" positions, and will have 0voltswhen the key
is turned to the "OFF" and "ACCESSORY" positions.
For DieselApplications, this wire must be connected to the ignition circuit that powers the glow plugs if the
vehiclerequires glow plugpre-heating.(Seeselectable feature #9)
GREEN Wire: Ignition 2 Output
Connectthis wire totheignition 2 wirefromthe ignition switch. Thiswirewill show +12volts when theignition
key is turned to the "ON" or "RUN" position and is some cases the "START" or CRANK" position. This wire
will show 0 volts when the key is turned to the "OFF" and "ACCESSORY" positions.

VIOLET Wire: Accessory Output
Connect this wire to the Accessory wire from the ignition switch. This wire will show + 12 volts when the
ignitionswitchisturnedtothe "ACCESSORY"or"ON" and "RUN" positions, and will show 0 volts when the
key is turned to the "OFF" and "START" or "CRANK" positions.
WIRING THE 4 PINALTERNATE IGNITION HARNESS
ORANGE/BLACK Wire: ParkingBrakeInput
Thiswireisusedonlywhentheturbotimermode,Bank3,feature#16isselectedON. Thisinputinsuresthat
thevehicleparkingbrakeisappliedwheneverthevehicleissetupforandtheturbotimercircuitisused. This
inputmustswitchtogroundwhenthevehicle'sparkingbrakeisapplied.ConnecttheOrange/Blackwiretothe
negativeoutputofthevehicle'sparkingbrakeswitch.
RED/BLACK Wire: + 12 Volts Input
Note: The Red/Black and Pink are dry contacts and may be used for negative switching when necessary.
Connecting the Red/Black to chassis ground will result in Pink being ground when the R/S is activated.
Thisinputistobeconnectedtoaseparate,(OtherthanthewireRedorRed/Whiteisconnectedto),constant
on+12voltsourcewhichwillsupply+12voltpowertotheadditionalignitionoutput,(Pink),wire. Connectthis
wire to a separate + 12 Volt source.
PINK Wire: Additional Ignition Output
This wire can be used as an additional + 12 Volt ignition output supplied by the Red/Black wire. This output
canbe selectedtobeon oroffduring thestartcycle. (Seefeature bank3selection #8) Connectthiswire to
thethirdignitioncircuitinthevehicleandsettheselectablefeature#8ofBank3accordingtothewayinwhich
thevehicle'signitionswitchoperates.
Note: Do not remove the fuse holders from this wire harness. Fuses must be
used and located as close as possible to the power source for adequate protec-
tion of the vehicle.

WIRING CONNECTIONS: Multi Pin Accessory Input/Output Harness
White w/ Red Trace Wire: Parking Light Flasher Feed
Thiswireisthe common contactoftheon board parking light flasher relay. If the vehicle you are working
on has +12 volt switched parking lights, connect this wire to a fused + 12 volt source. (Max. 15Amps)
Note: If the vehicle's parking lights are ground switched, connect this wire to chassis ground.
White Wire: Parking Light Flasher Output
Thiswireisthenormally open contactoftheonboardparking light flasher relay. Connectthiswiretothe
vehicle parking light feed wire. See diagram below for details on wiring positive switched parking light
circuits.
White w/ Black Trace Wire: (+) Siren Output
This is the positive siren feed wire. Route this wire through a grommet in the firewall to the siren
location. Connect the White w/ Black Trace wire to the Red wire of the Siren. Secure the Black wire
of the Siren to a known chassis ground or solid clean metal surface.

Purple Wire: (+) Door Trigger Input
If the vehicle's door courtesy light switches + 12 volts when the door is opened, (Some Fords and some
Imports),youmust connect this wire to the positive output fromoneofthevehicle'sdoorpin switches. In
mostcases, the Purple wire willneedtobe connected to only onedoorswitchno matter how manydoors
the vehicle has as most door lighting circuits are wired in parallel.
Note: Forvehicleswith interior delay lighting see programming under title "Completing TheInstallation".

Dark Green Wire: (-) Instant Trigger Input
This is the instant on ground trigger input wire. This wire must be connected to the hood and trunk pin
switchespreviouslyinstalled.
Note: Thiswire will be shuntedwhenremote control channel 3isaccessed, (trunk release). This wirewill
remainshuntedall the while there is ground present andfor5secondsafterthe ground is removed. This
allows the operator to open the trunk via the remote transmitter without having to first disarm the alarm
system. See below for wiring detail.

General Motors VATS By-Pass Diagram
Light Blue Wire: Ignition 3 Output
This wire provides a 300mAground output that becomes active 3 seconds before the Remote Start Unit
initializes, and remains grounded while running plus an additional 4 seconds after the Remote Start Unit
turns off. In all of the applications described below, a relay will be required.
The Light Blue wire can be used to accommodate the following situations:
A. Shock Sensor By Pass:
If there is a Non Plug in Shock Sensor used with the alarm system and it is not shunted during the
RemoteStartactivation period,thenvibration fromtherunning vehiclecancause thealarmto trigger. In
thiscase,connecttheLightBlueWireto terminal #86 of a external relay. Connectterminal # 85 of the
relaytoafused+ 12 volt battery source. Cut the shock sensor trigger wire and connect one end of the
cutwire to terminal#30andthe other endofthe cut wiretoterminal#87a. Just before theRemoteStart
unitisactivated, the relay contacts willopen,preventingtheshock sensor's operation until the Remote
Start unit shuts off.
B. Ignition 3 Output:
Some newer vehicles use a third ignition wire which is required to start and keep the vehicle's engine
running. If this is the case, connect the Light Blue wire to terminal #86 of an external relay. Connect
terminal # 30 & # 85 to a fused + 12 volt battery source rated for a minimum of 25 Amp. Connect
terminal # 87 to the third ignition wire in the vehicle.
C. GM VATS Key Override:
IfthevehiclehastheGeneralMotorsVATSsystem installed, you will need to bypassthe system while
the vehicle is operating under the control of the Remote Start Unit. To Do This;
1.Measure the resistance oftheresistorpellet on the ignitionkeythen select a resistorwithin5%of the
key'svaluefrom the resistor pack supplied.
2. Locate the pair of VATS wires in the vehicle, usually a pair of thin gauge wires running from the

Gray w/ Black Trace Wire: Negative Inhibit Input
TheGray w/BlackTracewireprovides aninstantshutdownfortheRemote StartControlModule whenever
itisgrounded. Connect the Gray w/ Black trace wiretothehoodpinswitch previously installed. This wire
mustberoutedthrough agrommetinthefirewallandconnectedto the hood pin switch. If the pin switch
is to be used with an alarm system, connect this wire using the diode assembly provided.
IMPORTANT!This connection is a safety wireandmustbeconnectedasshownandtestedasspecified.
Failure to do so may result in personal injury or property damage. See detail of wiring in the following
diagram. This wire may also be used if the vehicle brake light circuit switches ground to the brake lights.
An isolation diode must be used for ground switched brake light circuits and must be connected to the
output of the brake switch.

Orange Wire: Ground WhenArmed Output
This wire provides a 300 mA ground output when the alarm circuit is armed to control the starter inhibit
relay. Connectthe Orange wire toterminal#86(orange wire) of the relayprovided. Connectterminal#85
(redwire)of the relay to an ignitionwireinthevehicle that is +12 volts when theignitionswitchisturned to
the on and start positions and off when the key is off. Locate and cut the low current start solenoid wire
foundat the vehicles ignition switchharness. Thiswirewill have + 12voltswhenthe ignition key ismoved
tothe start (crank) positionandwillhave 0 volts inallotherkey positions. Connect one sideofthecut wire
to terminal #87a ( Black wire) of the relay. Connect the other side of the cut wire to terminal #30 (White/
Black wire) of the relay. See below for detail of wiring, also see Yellow Start wire detail for connection to
vehicleconsiderations.
Brown w/ Black Trace Wire: Positive Inhibit Input
TheBrownw/ BlackTrace wireprovidesaninstantshutdownforthe Remote StartControl module when-
everitgets + 12 volts. If the Brake lights switch in thevehicleswitches+12volts to the brake light circuit,
connect the Brown w/ Black trace wire to the output side of the brake switch. This will allow the Remote
Start to shut down if an attempt is made to operate the vehicle without the key while running under the
control of the Remote Start. In most vehicles, in order to shift into gear, the brake pedal must be de-
pressed. The brake input will in turn cause the remote start unit to shut off. See detail in the following
diagramforwiringthebrake light circuit.

Black Wire: Chassis Ground Source

Green w/ Orange Trace Wire: Tachometer Input Signal
This wire will continually monitor the engine's tach rate while the unit is under power of the Remote Start
module. This wire will be routed to the vehicle ECM tach input or through the firewall into the engine
compartment and connect to the negative side of the ignition coil. This Remote Start unit learns the tach
rateof thevehicleand in mostcaseswill operateproperlyfrom one multicoilpack regardlessofthe number
ofcylinders. If the vehicle has a singlecoil unit for each cylinder,it may be necessary to connect thiswire
tomorethanonecylinderforpropertachreference. Seemulticoilwiringdetailshownlaterinthismanual
foradditional information. Tachometer Input Wiring Detail
Green/Yellow Wire: Diesel Wait To Start Input
The Green/Yellow wire will connect to a diesel vehicles glow plug wire. When the unit receives a start command,
this wire must go to + 12 then to ground to allow the crank sequence to begin. When ignition #1 is activated by the
remote start unit, the glow plug circuit gets energized, (+ 12 volts), when the glow plug circuit of the vehicle drops
the + 12 volts, which effectively grounds the wait to start input, then 500mS later the starter will engage. This wire
can also be connected to the Glow Plug Bulb wire in the vehicle if this bulb wire gets + 12 volts when the ignition
comes on and drops low when the glow plug circuits temperature is reached. Be sure to fuse the wire with a 1 Amp
Fuse when connecting to a high current circuit such as a factory glow plug wire. The fuse should be installed as
close to the high current wire as possible. If you are installing this unit in a Gasoline vehicle, this wire is not used.
Note: If the Glow Plug sense wire, Green/Yellow is connected, this wire will have priority over the setting of feature
Bank 3 Feature #11.
Brown Wire: NegativeDoorTrigger
Ifthe vehicle's door courtesy lightswitchesgroundwhen the door isopened,(MostGMs and Imports), you
mustconnect this wiretothe negativeoutputfromone ofthevehicle'sdoor pinswitches. Inmost cases the
Brownwire will needtobe connected toonlyonedoor switch nomatterhow many doorsthevehicle has as
most door lighting circuits are wired in parallel.

Negative Door Switch Wiring Detail
Dark Blue Wire: Delayed 300mA Pulsed Channel 3 Output
TheDarkBluewiresuppliesa300mAgroundpulsedoutputwheneverchannelthreeofthereceiverisaccessed.
Pressing the pre-programmed transmitter button for three seconds will access channel two. This is a low
current output and must be connected to a relay to supply power to the trunk release or the circuit you wish
to control. Connect the Dark Blue wire to terminal # 86 of a VF45F11 P&B relay or equivalent. Connect
terminal # 85 of the relay to a fused + 12 volt source. Connect the common, normally open, and normally
closed contacts of the relay to perform the selected function of channel 3. See below for relay wiring detail.
Channel 3 Relay Wiring Detail
Green w/ Black Trace Wire: 300mA Latched Channel 4 Output
TheGreenw/BlackTracewiresuppliesa 300mAswitchedoutputwheneverchannelfourofthereceiveris
accessed. Pressing the pre-programmed transmitter button(s) will access channel four and will remain
active,forupto8seconds,as long as the transmitter button(s) is held. This is a low current output and must
be connected to a relay to supply power to the device you intend to control. Connect Green w/ Black Trace

selected function of the channel 4 output.
Dark Blue/Black Trace Wire: External Trigger Input
The Dark Blue/Black trace wire allows the remote start unit to be activated from an external source. The
intent of this wire is to allow the unit to be controlled from a "POSSE/CAR-LINK" paging system or similar
device. When this wire receives a ground pulse, the unit will start the vehicle. Connect this wire to a ground
pulsed output from the controlling circuit.
Black w/ White Trace Wire : 300 mA Horn Output
Theblack w/whitetracewire isprovidedto beep thevehicle’shorn. This isatransistorized lowcurrentoutput,
andshould only be connected to thelow current ground output from the vehicle’shorn switch.
Ifthe vehicle uses a+12VDC horn switch, thenconnecttheblack w/ white tracewiretoterminal 86 of theAS
9256 relay ( or an equivalent 30Amp automotive relay ), and connect relay terminal 85 to a fused + 12 VDC
battery source. Connect relay terminal 87 to the vehicle’s horn switch output, and connect relay terminal 30
to a fused + 12 VDC battery source.

WIRING THE 4 PIN AUXILIARY OUTPUT HARNESS
The auxiliary 4 pin connector provides low current outputs to control various functions in the vehicle during
differentstagesof theRemoteStartunit's operation. Understandingthese outputsand the time inwhichthey
occurwill allowyouto determineifthey areneededfor theparticularvehicle youareworking onaswell ashow
to use them.
Black w Blue Trace Wire: Pulsed Ground Output Before Start
The Black w/ Blue Trace wire will provide a 1 second 300 mA pulsed ground output 1.5 second before the
remote start unit activates as well as when the transmitter is used to disarm the system. Typical use for this
outputwould be todisarma factory theftdeterrentsystem to preventfalsetriggering of thefactoryalarm when
the remote start unit engages or when the 785 is used to unlock the doors.
Black w/ Light Green Trace Wire: Pulsed Ground Output After Start
The Black w/ Light Green Trace wire will provide a 1 second mA pulsed ground output after the vehicle is
startedunder control of the remote startunit. Typicallythiswirewill be used to re-lock the vehicle doors if the
doors unlock automatically when the factory anti-theft system is disarmed.
Black w/ Red Trace Wire: Pulsed Ground OutputAfter Shutdown
TheBlackw/RedTrace wire will provide a 1 second 300 mA pulsed ground output after the remote start unit
shuts down. This output will occur regardless of whether the circuit times out or is manually terminated.
Typically this output will be used to re-lock the vehicle doors if the doors unlock automatically when the
ignition circuit transitions to off.
Black w/ Yellow Trace Wire: Ground Output During Start (Crank)
TheBlack w/YellowTracewirewill providea300mAground output while thestarteroutputof the remotestart
unit is active. This output can be used to activate the Crank Low/Bulb Test wire found in some GM vehicles.
This wire is also referred to as the ECM wake up wire in some vehicles.
Note: Theoutputsaboveare low current outputs and must be used with a relay if the circuit's requirement
is more than 300mA.

white connector shell are the inputs/outputs of the shock sensor. Route the 4 wire harness from the shock
sensortothe remote start controlunitandplugthe 4 pin whiteconnectorintothemating 4 pin connectorshell
ofthecontrolmodule.
Note: While operating under the control of the remote start unit the shock sensor will be shunted (bypassed).
Once the remote start shuts down, the shock sensor will be re-enabled.

2 Pin Transponder Control Output: (YellowConnector)
Thisoutputisintendedtoallowthecontrolofatransponderbypassinterfacemoduleortransponder
bypass relay. The system also allows software selections to control the way in which this output oper-
ates, see remote start feature # 10 for setting this output.
When the unit is selected for output during the start sequence, this output will be active at the same time
Ign. 3 becomes active, and will remain active until the vehicle has started. This will be used for one time
readtranspondercircuits.
When the unit is selected for transponder on, this output will become active at the same time ign. 3
becomes active, and will remain active all the time the unit is operational under the control of the remote
start. When the unit is selected for continuous and the vehicle is started via the Remote Start, this output
will become active at the same time ign. 3 becomes active and will remain active until the ignition in the
vehicle goes low. This will allow the unit to be used for continuous read transponders circuits.
Pushbutton LED/Valet/Program/Override Switch: (Blue & White Connectors)
TheBlack &Grayand the Red&Blue twinleadwires loadedinthe 2 twoconnectorare thegroundsupply and
program/valet/overrideinput as well asanode&cathode of the PBLEDswitchfor the remote startunit.When
theGreywire is grounded, under certainconditions,theunitwill enter the valet mode. When theGreywireis
sequentiallygroundedunder other conditions, the unitwillenterthevarious program modes indicated on the
integral LED built into the switch. Route the twin lead Black & Gray and Red & Blue wires from the PBLED
switchtothe remote start unit and plugbothtwopinconnector into the mating blue andwhiteconnectorshell
of the control module. For valet, remote start override, and alarm override information, refer to the owners
manual.
3 Pin Antenna/Receiver Connector:
Plugthe previously routedthreepinconnector from theantennareceiver assemble intothematingconnector
ofthe control module. This connectorsupplies12volts, ground andRFdatafrom the antenna receivertothe
remote start module. Be certain this connector is firmly seated making good contact to the control unit.
3 Pin Door Lock/Unlock Harness: (WhiteConnector)
TheRed and Green wires willprovideeithera pulsed ground output tothefactorydoor lock control relay,ora
pulsed + 12 volt output to the factory door lock control relay. In either case, the maximum current draw
through these outputs must not exceed 300mA. The Red w/Black trace wire will provide a pulsed ground
only,andwillonlyprovidean output when the unlock button of the transmitter is pressed a second time after
a first unlock command was issued. This is used for second step unlock or all doors unlock in a two step
circuit. In this arrangement, Red is used to control the drivers door unlock relay, and the Red/Black will be
used to control unlock of all other doors.
3 Wire Ground Switched Door Lock Circuits:
Inthis application,theRed wireofthedoorlock harnessprovidesa groundpulse duringthearming sequence,
orpulsed groundlockoutput. Connect theRedwire tothelowcurrentground signalwirefrom thefactorydoor
lock switch to the factory door lock relay.
TheGreen wire of the door lock harness provides agroundpulse during the disarming sequence, or pulsed
ground unlock output. Connect the Green wire to the low current ground signal wire from the factory door
unlock switch to the factory door unlock relay. See Below For Wiring Detail.

3 Wire Positive Switched Door Lock/Unlock Wiring Detail
3 Wire Ground Switched 2 Step Door Locks
In this application, the red wire provides a ground pulse during arming, or the pulsed ground lock output.
Connectthered wire to the wire thatprovidesalowcurrentground signal from the factory doorlockswitchto
the factory door lock control relay.
Thegreen wire providesthe firstgroundpulse during disarming,orthe drivers door pulsed ground unlock
output.Connect this wire tothedrivers door unlock relay that requiresalowcurrent ground signaltounlock
only the drivers door. If the vehicle does not have a separate drivers door relay, one will have to be added.
Locatethe driversdoorunlock motorwireand cutitat aconvenientlocation toallow wiringofan optionalrelay.
Connect the door side of the cut wire to terminal 30 of the optional relay added. Connect the vehicle side of
the cut wire to terminal 87a of the optional relay added. Connect the green wire of the 3 pin harness to
terminal86oftheoptional relay added. Connect terminal 85 of the optional relay added to a fused constant
+ 12 volt source. Most vehicles door lock/unlock motor legs rest at ground, and switch +12 volts to the door
lock/unlock motor legs for operation, if this is the case in the vehicle you are working on, connect the
remaining terminal, 87, to a fused + 12 volt source. In the rare instance that the vehicle door lock/unlock
motor legs rest at + 12 volts and switches ground to the door lock/unlock motors, connect the remaining
terminal, 87, to chassis ground.
The Red/Black wire provides a pulse ground output when the unlock button of the transmitter is pressed a
secondtime afterdisarming. Connectthe Red/Blackwiretothe wirethatprovides alowcurrent groundsignal
from the factory door unlock switch to the factory door unlock control relay.

3 Wire Positive Switched 2 Step Door Locks
Thegreen wire provides a positive pulse duringarming, or the pulsed + 12 volt lock output.Connect the
green wire to the wire that provides a low current positive signal from the factory door lock switch to the
factory door lock control relay.
The red wire provides a positive pulse during disarming, or the drivers door pulsed positive unlock
output. Connect this wire to the drivers door unlock relay that requires a low current positive signal to
unlock only the drivers door. If the vehicle does not have a separate drivers door relay, one will have to be
added. Locate the drivers door unlock motor wire and cut it at a convenient location to allow wiring of an
optionalrelay. Connect the door sideofthe cut wire toterminal30of the optional relayadded. Connectthe
vehicle side of the cut wire to terminal 87a of the optional relay added. Connect the red wire of the 3 pin
harness to terminal 86 of the optional relay added. Connect terminal 85 of the optional relay added to
chassisground. Mostvehicles door lock/unlock motor legs restatground,andswitch +12 volts to the door
lock/unlock motor legs for operation, if this is the case in the vehicle you are working on, connect the
remaining terminal, 87, to a fused + 12 volt source. In the rare instance that the vehicle door lock/unlock
motor legs rest at + 12 volts and switches ground to the door lock/unlock motors, connect he remaining
terminal, 87, to chassis ground.
TheRed/Blackwireprovidesapulsegroundoutputwhentheunlock button of the transmitter is pressed a
second time after disarming. Because the vehicle you are working on requires a positive pulse from the
factorydoor lock switch tothefactorydoor lock control relay,youwill have to addarelayto invert the output
polarity of this wire. Connect the Red/Black wire to terminal 86 of the optional added relay. Connect
terminal85 & 87toa fuse+12volt source. Connectterminal30to thelowcurrent door unlockwirefrom the
factory door switch to the door unlock control relay.
Note: Resistive Circuits, As Well As 4 Wire Polarity Reversal and 5 Wire Alternating 12 Volt
Door Lock Control Circuits
These applications require the use of additional components which may include relays, fixed resistors, or
forconvenience, theAS9159Door Lock Interface. Refer totheAUDIOVOX Door Lock Wiring Supplement
and or theAudiovox fax back service for information on your particular vehicle for properly connecting to
these types of circuits.
TIMEDSTARTPROGRAM
1. Start By Holding the Pushbutton switch On.
2.While Holding thePushbuttonSwitch Turn TheIgnitionSwitch On ThenOff.

3a) Within 10 seconds of turning the ignition switch off, Release and then Push On and release the
Pushbutton Switch 2 times holding it on the second time until the siren and or lights flash and chirp 2
times indicating that the 2 Hour Start Interval has successfully been set. or
3b) Within 10 seconds of turning the ignition switch off, (Step 2) Release
and then Push On and release the Pushbutton Switch 4 times holding it on the fourth time until the siren
and or lights flash and chirp 4 times indicating that the 4 Hour Start Interval has successfully been set.
Note: Once selected, 2 or 4, this timer interval will remain in memory until it is manually changed. To
change,theabovesequencewillhavetobefollowed.
TIMEDSTART OPERATION:
To begin the start timer, within 10 seconds of turning off the ignition switch, activate the RF command to
start 2 times. (Press the trunk/key button four times). The lights will flash and the siren will chirp 4 times.
Indicatingtimedinterval mode has been initiated. The vehicle willautomaticallystartevery2 or 4 hours as
programmed. To cancel the timed start mode start the vehicle either by RF or by the ignition key.
Programming Tach Rate:
Note: All applications require that tach be programmed.
Theunitwillnotoperateunlesstachisprogrammed. Ifanattemptismadetostartthevehicleviatheremote
startwithoutfirstprogrammingtach,theunitwillflashtheparkinglights7timesindicatingtachhasnotbeen
learnedandstored. Ifthetachrateisnotproperlyprogrammedtothespecificvehicle,theunitmaynotrealize
that the vehicle is running in certain instances reengage the starter motor.
The Remote Start Unit will learn the tach rate of most vehicle's single coil, multiple coil packs, or single
injector. To learn tach.
1. Turn the ignition key to the On position.
2. Press and release the valet/program push button switch 3 times.
3. Immediately turn the ignition key Off.
4. Press and hold the valet/program push button switch, then start the vehicle using the key.
5. When the unit senses the tach signal, the parking lights will begin to flash.
6. Release the valet/program pushbutton switch. The parking lights will turn on for three seconds to
indicate that the learned tach signal is stored and the unit is out of the tach learn mode.
Note: Iftheunitfailsto learn tach rate due to an improper tachometer connection or a poor tach source,
the parking lights will not flash.
To correct this situation, locate and connect the Green/Orange wire to the proper tach signal, and then
repeatthetachlearnroutine.
Diagnostics:
Enterselectablefeature#7and turn on as described above.
Note: Diagnosticmode is atemporarymode. Once you haveaccessedthediagnostic mode, theunitwill
pause for two seconds then begin to flash the last stored shut down code. This code will be
displayed two times in succession, then the unit will automatically exit the diagnostic on mode.
Theparking lights will flashanumber of times indicatingthereasonfor the lastremotestartshutdown. The
light flash indications are as follows:
1 Flash 5, 10, 15, or 20, minute run timer expired.
2Flashes LoworNotachsignalreceived.
3Flashes Positiveinput shutdown.
4Flashes Controlswitchwasmoved to "Off" position.
5Flashes RFShutdowncommandreceived.

Multi Coil PackAdaptor: (Optional)
The multi coil pack adaptor is designed for use with vehicles having multiple ignition coils where a single
pointtachsignal is unavailable, or non responsive. P/N 136B1400
To use the adaptor, the Green/Black wires must connect to the negative side of the ignition coil(s).
1. For vehicles utilizing independent coils per cylinder, connect the three Green/Black leads to alternate
coils. To achieve optimum performance the coil signals must be evenly distributed. This is accom-
plishedbyfirstmapping out the firing order of the engine in groupsof as indicated below. Drawa circle
aroundanyofthecolumns.TheGreen/Blackwiresshouldbeconnectedtothenegative(-)terminalof
the respective cylinder number which appears in any of the circles.
2. For vehicles utilizing 2 cylinder firing per coil pack, connect Green/Black to the tach side of each coil
pack. For 8 cylinder, four coil systems, connect to any of the three coils.

3. Connect theYellow wire to a+12voltignition 1 source. This wirewillhave+12 voltswith the ignition inthe
on and start position and have 0 volts with the ignition in the off position.
4. Connectthe Green wire to the (Green) or (Orange/Green) tachinput of theAudiovox remote startunit.
TESTINGYOUR INSTALLATION:
CAUTION!! The following procedure must be performed after the installation of anAudiovox Remote Start
Device. It is the responsibility of the installing technician to complete these tests. Failure to test the unit in
thefollowingmannermayresultinpersonalinjury, property damage, or both.
HOOD PIN SAFETY SHUT DOWN:
Theintentionofthe hood pin safety shut down is to prevent the RemoteStartunit from being activated while
amechanic or vehicle owner isperformingnormalroutine vehicle maintenance.
To test the integrity of this circuit:
1. With the drivers window in the down position, start the vehicle using the RF transmitter.
2. Reach inside the car and pull the hood release.
3. Raise the hood and confirm that the remote start unit shuts down.
If the unit fails this test, recheck your pin switch connection to the Gray/Black wire of theAudiovox Remote
Start Unit.
DONOT RELEASE THIS VEHICLE TO THE CONSUMERUNTIL YOU CONFIRMTHE
OPERATION OF THE HOOD PIN SAFETYSHUT DOWN FEATURE.
MANUALSHUT DOWN / ENABLE CIRCUIT:
Theintentof the manual shutdown/enablecircuit is to allowthevehicleoperatorto prevent operation ofthe
RemoteStartUnit regardless of the RF transmitter operation.
To test the integrity of the manual shut down / enable circuit:
1. Place the control switch in the on (Closed To Ground) position.
2. Start the vehicle using the RF transmitter.
3. The vehicle should start and run under the control of the remote start unit.
4.Movetheswitch to the off (Open From Ground) position, the vehicle should shut off.
Ifthe unit fails thistest,recheckyour enable switch connectiontothe Ground and theBlack/Whitewireof the
Audiovox Remote Start Unit. If you have a plug in enable switch, check that the two pin connector is firmly
seated in the mating connector on the control module.

NEUTRALSTARTSAFETYTEST:
The intent of the neutral start switch is to prevent the vehicle from starting while the gear selector is in any
position other than Park, or Neutral. When installing a Remote Start Device, it is imperative that the Yellow
Starter wire be connected to the ignition switch side of the Neutral Start Switch. Consideration for the
placement of a starter inhibit relay is important as well, and should be connected to the ignition switch side
