1. DESCRIPTION
The V6151 and V6152 are serial digital video Distribution Amplifiers forusewith both High Definition and
Standard Definition SDI signals.The V6151 has asingle input and fiveoutputs,while the V6152 hasone
input and ten outputs.The unitsautomaticallydetectwhether the input signal is High Definition (HD) or
Standard definition (SD) and setsits parametersaccordingly.When operating with an SD signal alloutputs
can be used with ASI signals.
Theyare partof the V1600 range ofinterfacemodulesand arebuilt on a3U high Eurocardwhichcan be
fitted into V1606 3U Chassisalong with anyother module in the range. (The earlierV1603 3U chassis can
alsobe used, sotheycan be retro-fitted into earlier installations). Suitable passiverear modulesmust be
used. The V6151 is a standard single width module, but the V6152 occupies twopositionsto provide enough
BNC connectorson the rear panel.
Both modules receive all theirpower and I/O signals fromthe rackand rear modules. Unlikemost modules
in the range it isnot possible to usethe V6151 DA in a1U chassis due to the technical requirementsof the
HD SDI signal. As a double width module, the V6152 could not physicallyfit into a 1U chassis.
Areclockerisfitted to the modules,but this can be disabled byalinkon the board. In someinstallations the
use ofa non-reclocking amplifier is preferred since it does not lock jittererrorsinto a signal.
Both units will operate with all High Definition SMPTE 292 signals, Levels Ato M, and with Standard
Definition SMPTE 259M signals.
The DARTremote monitoring and control system will indicate unit type, Reclocking or non re-clocking, signal
present and the operating data rate.

2. INSTALLATION
2.1 Rear Panel Connections
The V1651 and V6152 units can onlybe used in a 3U chassis , but use different width rear modules.
The V16HR3A and 1V6HR3Bare shown below:

For bestperformance ofthese Distribution amplifiers it is recommended that all outputsare terminated, even
iftheyare not being used, with properhigh qualityterminations.

2.2 Front Panels
These arethe two front panels. Onlythe re-clocking DA, the V6151, has an indication that the input signal is
present.

REM Short blipsto indicate accessfromthe remote control system. ARackControllermust be
fitted to the Chassis.
SD Indicates SDI Standard Definition input signal ispresent and locked.
HD Indicates SDI High Definition input signal ispresent and locked.

2.5 Hardware

The PCB isalsoused as abaseboardforVistek’s fibreI/O products, but for simplerapplications likethese
DAs manycomponents are not fitted. Ofall the adjustablesonlyJP 1 isfitted:
