Note:
Only one 4-pole cable is
required to connect 2-channel
combinations of several SW12
and tops.
Only one 4-pole cable is required
to connect 2-channel sub arrays
like e.g. 2 x 4 SW12.
Description:
The SW12 is a compact 12“ bassreflex subwoofer for sound
systems with an active frequency crossover.
It can be used for all kinds of sound reinforcement, from stand-
alone applications to massive cardioid subwoofer arrays. Large,
symmetrically positioned bass reflex ports allow a controlled and
loss-free low-end reproduction.
Operation is to be made (exclusively) using the
ProAudio Technology system amplifiers. Two different
setups – omnidirectional (front) and cardioid (front and rear)
– enable a practice-oriented usage. Alternatively you can also
use amplifiers of the Hoellstern DELTA series with built-in DSP.
If you have any questions regarding this issue, please contact
ProAudio Technology.
Cabinet:
The cabinet is made of 15 mm birch multiply wood and coated
with a robust two-component texture paint finish. It is fitted with
two handles, an M20 steel flange and eight stacking feet with
matching recesses on the opposite side. Behind the front grille is
a layer of black acoustic foam.
Connection:
The connections are made on the rear side through two Neutrik
NL4 SpeakON sockets wired in parallel.
Pin pair 1 may be used to hook up tops (slave-through option).
Pin pair 2 is connected to the subwoofer chassis.
There are two additional SpeakON connectors on the front side.
Pin pair 1 of the front sockets is connected to the subwoofer
chassis. These connectors have been provided for optionally
tapping off a second channel with sub arrays or cardioid sub
arrays (CSA operation mode). The CSA mode will be explained in
detail on the following pages of this manual.
Combinations of SW12 and tops, which are supplied via a 4-pole
speaker cable, must only be connected at the rear SpeakON
sockets of the SW12 subwoofers!
Never use the SpeakON sockets on the front side.
Operation on System Amplifiers:
The amplifier configuration software will display help texts for the
individual loudspeakers. Select a setup which contains the name
“SW12“. The “CSA“ (Cardioid Sub Array) option must be used for
cardioid applications.
On the DELTA8.4-DSP system amplifier up to two SW12 can be
driven per channel.
On the DELTA14.4-DSP system amplifier a maximum of four
SW12 can be driven per channel.
Details will be shown by the software upon entering the number
of SW12 subwoofers per channel.
Note:
Use the SW12 subwoofer only
on system amplifiers with the
available setups. Otherwise there
may be a risk of damage and
inadequate performance.
