The ProTek R/C TruGlow Remote Glow Igniter features easily configurable settings
allowing optimum setup for all installations. Please read this manual carefully to ensure
correct installation and operation of the unit.

Product Features
Works with existing onboard receiver battery (3.6V – 8.4V).
Optimal adaptive glow with any glow plug type at any voltage.
Visible LED and audible alarm notify you that the glow plug is glowing.
The glow plug can be remotely ignited from your transmitter by using a receiver
channel (Gear,AUX, etc.) or optional push switch.
Requires a valid receiver signal to allow for remote glow plug ignition.
Enhances safety as it will not apply current to the glow plug if in stunt flight mode or if
the engine throttle is open This is achieved by using the program mixing function in
the transmitter.
Helicopter: Improved engine reliability by igniting the glow plug at low throttle positions
or when throttle hold is activated. This is achieved by using the program mixing
function in the transmitter.
Airplane: Improve low speed engine characteristics by igniting the glow plug
automatically at low throttle settings. This is achieved by using the program mixing
function in the transmitter.
The external buzzer, LED glow indicator, RC controlled switch and other functions are
optional according to user requirements. The remote switch unit is optional, and can
be left off the model when the unit is controlled from the transmitter.
A Micro Controller Unit (MCU) monitors all functions and helps to prevent possible
damage.

Installation and Setup
1. Connect the receiver cable to either the Gear orAux channel of your receiver.
2. The JST cable is connected to the plug output terminal, one end is connected to the
crankcase or engine mount, and the alligator clip is connected to the glow plug center
post.
3. With the receiver powered, toggle the Gear (or Aux) channel and the Auto Power
function will ignite the glow plug. At the same time the buzzer will sound and the LED
will illuminate. Note: To change the direction of the transmitter switch controlling the
igniter, reverse the corresponding channel in the transmitter.
4. Using the optional sensor push button: Press the push button once for 12 seconds of
glow. Each time you press the button, the system adds an additional 12 seconds of
glow. The button can be pressed up to five times for a maximum of 60 seconds of
continuous glow. To terminate an extended glow, press and hold the push-button for 1
second.
Auto ignition function
1) Timer set by transmitter (Auto cut-off after 12 seconds) – This function prevents a
total discharging of the battery if the TruGlow Remote Glow Igniter is accidentally
left on.
2) Select plug voltage – low, normal or high glow brightness.
3) Press the push button once for 12 seconds of glow. Each time you press the
button, the system adds an additional 12 seconds of glow. The button can be
pressed up to five times for a maximum of 60 seconds of continuous glow. To
terminate an extended glow time, press and hold the push-button for 1 second.
Programming the ProTek R/C TruGlow Remote Glow Igniter
After connecting power, flip the toggle switch on/off twice within 1 second to enter
setting mode. Successful entry is indicated with the buzzer and LED.
Toggle switch on/off 1 time: The glow plug is ignited for 12 seconds and will
automatically cut off.
Toggle switch on/off 2 times: Toggle switch is restored to its original function.
Toggle switch on/off 3 times: select plug strength – low brightness.
Toggle switch on/off 4 times: select plug strength – normal brightness.
Toggle switch on/off 5 times: select plug strength – high brightness.
When set up by toggle switch on transmitter, this item will indicate the setup mode
with the LED and buzzer sounds. For example if the switch is toggled on/off 3 times,
the blue LED will flash 3 times and buzzer will sound 3 times. After selecting one
function you can select the next function. After completing all settings, flip the toggle
the switch on/off twice within 1 second to exit setup mode.
