Congratulations on the purchase of your PYE
80cm Colour Television. It is hoped that you have a lot
of enjoyment from your TV.
To enjoy your set to the fullest read this manual carefully
and keep it handy for ready reference.
Important Safeguards
When using electrical appliances, in order to reduce the
risk of re, electric shock, and/or injury to persons, basic
safety precautions should always be followed.
For your Safety
Read all instructions carefully even if you feel you are quite
familiar with the appliance.
• This appliance is not intended for use by young children
or inrm persons without supervision.
• Young children should be supervised to ensure that
they do not play with the appliance.
• This appliance should be placed on a at, stable
surface before it is operated.
• Total darkness or a reection on the picture tube can
cause eyestrain. Soft and indirect lighting is
recommended for comfortable viewing.
• INDOOR USE ONLY - this appliance is not intended for
outdoor use.
• Do not expose this appliance to rain or moisture.
• Do not immerse in water or any other liquid.
• Do not place items lled with liquids, such as vases, on
the appliance. Do not expose appliance to dripping or
splashing liquids.
• Do not place naked ame sources, such as candles, on
the appliance.
• Do not locate the appliance near heat sources such as
radiators, heaters, air ducts or direct sunlight.
• Do not block any of the ventilation openings. Ensure
that vents are not covered by newspapers, tablecloths,
curtains, etc. Do not install in a tight tting cabinet.
• Do not insert or allow foreign objects to enter any grille
openings.
• This appliance is not intended for use in bathrooms,
laundry areas or similar moist locations. Never locate
this appliance in the immediate surroundings of, or
where it may fall into, a bath, basin, washtub, shower
or swimming pool.
• Do not run the power cord under carpeting. Ensure the
supply cord is away from trafc areas and where it will
not become a trip hazard.
• To disconnect the appliance, turn appliance off, switch
off power outlet and remove the plug from the power
outlet.
• Do not abuse the supply cord. Never carry the
appliance by the supply cord. Never yank the supply
cord from the power outlet; instead, grasp the plug and
pull to disconnect. Keep the supply cord away from
heated surfaces.
• Do not operate the appliance with a damaged supply
cord or plug or after the appliance malfunctions, has
been dropped or damaged in any way. Consult an
authorised service facility or similarly qualied person
for examination.
• When cleaning the picture tube face, turn off the
television and remove plug from power outlet. Using a
dry cloth, wipe the television ensuring that no dust or
lint enters any vents.
• This appliance is only to be serviced by a qualied
person. There are no user-serviceable parts inside.
• This product has not been designed for any uses other
than those specied in this booklet. This product is
intended for household use only.
• All television receivers are high voltage instruments.
Your PICTURE TUBE is highly evacuated. If broken,
glass fragments will be violently expelled. Scratching,
chipping, or putting undue pressure on the tube is
dangerous and should be avoided. During thunder and
lighting, unplug the power cord and antenna cord to
prevent your TV set from damage. All ‘inside work’ on
your receiver should be performed by an authorised
repair agent.
• High voltages are used in the operation of this
television receiver. Do not remove the cabinet back
from your set. Refer servicing to an authorised repair
agent.
• Never suddenly stand on, lean on or push the television
or its stand. You should pay special attention to children
when they are near the TV. Serious injury may result if
the unit should fall.
• Do not squash power supply cord under the television
receiver.
Introduction




Battery Installation (Remote Control Unit)
1. Remove the battery cover.
2. Insert the 2x AA 1.5V batteries making sure the polarity
(+ or -) of the batteries matches the polarity marks
inside the unit.
3. Replace the battery cover.
Replace with new batteries when the TV set begins to
show the following symptoms:
Operation is unsteady or erratic.
Sometimes the TV set does not function with Remote
Control Unit.
NOTE:
1. ALKALINE BATTERIES RECOMMENDED.
2. REMOVE BATTERIES WHEN THEY ARE EXHAUSTED
OR IF THE REMOTE CONTROL IS NOT TO BE USED
FOR A LONG TIME.






Before calling for service or assistance make the following
simple checks:
SYMPTOM CHECK
Picture Sound
Snowy picture Distorted sound - Check antenna direction, location and/or antenna
connection.
Multiple image Normal sound - Check antenna direction, location and/or antenna
connection.
Interference on
screen Distorted sound - Interference from electrical appliances, cars, motorcycles,
uorescent lights.
Normal picture Distorted or no sound
- Adjust the broadcast sound system.
- Check volume level.
- Check mute function.
No picture No sound
- Protection mode engaged. Disconnect AC power cord, then
wait 1 minute before plugging the cord back in.
- Check contrast, brightness and volume settings.
- Standby mode engaged.
- Child lock.
No colour Normal sound - Check colour level.
- Check colour system.
No picture Normal or low level
sound - Adjust the channel’s tuning.
Coloured stains Normal sound - Check for magnetic interference.
- Switch the TV off for 30 minutes.
Remote control malfunction - Replace batteries.
- Clean indicator window.

Warranty
The benefits conferred by this warranty are in addition
to all implied warranties, other rights and remedies
in respect of the product which the consumer has
under the Trade Practices Act and similar State
and Territory Laws.
The original purchaser of this PYE product is
provided with the following warranty, subject to the
following conditions.
Mistral International Pty Ltd warrant this product for a
period of 24 months from the date of purchase for all parts
defective in workmanship or materials. The product or
defective parts will be replaced free of charge.
Warranty Conditions
1. This warranty is only valid for appliances used
according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
2. This appliance must not be modified or changed
in any way.
3. Connection must be to the voltage requirements as
specified in the ratings label located on the product.
4. The manufacturer does not accept liability for any
direct or consequential damage, loss or other expense
arising from misuse or incorrect installation and
operation of the appliance.
5.
Warranty will only be given where proof of purchase
is provided, e.g. original invoice or receipt
.
6. Not designed or warranted for industrial
or commercial use.

specifications without incurring obligation. Whilst every
