1.1 Functioning of the QIR100H detector
1. Qtech detectors
TheQtechseriesofdetectorstobeappliedinindoorinstallations.
Bymeansoftheamplification,filteringanddigitalanalysisofthesignalsdetectedbytheirsensors,these
devicesarecapableofdetectingmotionintheareatheywatchoverwithappropriatelyprogrammablesens-
itivity,immunitytofalsealarmsandadequateprotectionagainsttamper.
TheQtechdetectorseriesalsoprovides‘petimmune’versionsdedicatedtoapplicationsthatmustnotgen-
eratealarmsinthepresenceofanimalsofupto25kg.
1.1 Functioning of the QIR100H detector
Whenpowerissupplied,theredLEDblinks3timesthentheyellowLEDlightsupandthedetectorgoesinto
theself-calibrationphase.Within60secondsthedetectorentersoperationalstatusandtheyellowLED
turnsoff.Duringthe60secondself-calibrationphase,thepartitionmonitoredbythedetectormustbein
stand-bystatus,freefromobstaclesandpeoplemovingabout.
Thealarmoutput(‘ALARM’terminal)activatesandtheredLEDlightsupwhenthedetectorsensesthe
movementofabodywhosetemperatureisdifferentfromtheambienttemperature.
Thetamperoutput(‘TAMPER’terminals)activateswhenthelidisopened.
Ambienttemperaturecanaffectinfraredsensingcapability.Theinstallercanadjustthesensitivityofthe
detectorsthroughprogramming.
Changingthesensitivityofthesensorsdoesnotalwaysreducetherange,butitdoesreducetheabilityto
detectsmallchangesinheat/temperature.
Tamper protectionThedetectorisprotectedagainstsabotageduetoopeningthelid.

1. Chooseasuitablemountingplacement.
2. Loosenthefrontcoversecuringscrewandopenthecoverbyspreadingthetwosurfacesapartfrom
thesideofthesecuringscrew.
3. Opentheholesforthesecuringscrews,openthecableglandsandinsertthecables.
4. Holdthebasetothechosenmountingplacementandmarkthescrewholesposition.
5. Usingthescrews,securethebaseinposition.
6. Completetheconnectionsontheterminalboard.
7. Ifnecessary,carryouttheprogrammingusingthebuttonsonthePCB.
8. Re-attachthecovertothebaseandreplacethesecuringscrew.
NoteWhen using the optional XBK100 swivel, the function that allows detection of removal from the mounting surface
(anti-dislodgement) is void.

powerlines,neonlampsandobjectsthatcancausetemperaturechangessuchasstoves,refri-
geratorsandovens.
lDonotinstallthedetectorinlocationswherethereisriskofrapidtemperaturechanges.
lDonotblindthefieldofdetectionofthesensor,evenpartially.
lThedetectorshouldbemountedwiththealarm-LEDstripabovethelensandnotviceversa.
lDonottouchtheelectroniccomponentsasthismaydamagethecircuitsandreducethereliabilityof
thedetector.Ifnecessary,cleanthedetectorwithasoftclothonly.
lThisdetectormustbeinstalledincompliancewiththelawsandstandardsinforce.

Inadditiontothis,thealarmandlinetampersignalscanbecommunicatedwiththeuseofappropriatebal-

TheoperatingparametersofthedetectorsandtheadjustmentsofthesensitivityoftheQtechsensorscan
beprogrammedbymeansofthebuttonsandLEDsavailableonthePCB,throughtheirownprogramming
menu.
3.1 Programming from QIR100H
Tochangetheprogrammingofparameters,theQIR100Hdetectorhasaprogrammingmenuindicatedby
theblinkingonitscorrespondingLEDs.Withinthismenu,youcannavigateusingthe‘P1’and‘P2’buttons.
TheP1buttonallowsyoutoenterandexittheprogrammingmenuandtoscrollthroughthemenuoptions.
TheP2buttoncanbeusedtochangetheparametersrelatingtotheselectedoption.
The4LEDsindicate:
lselectionoftheparameter,whentheyareONsolid
lthevalueoftheparameter,whentheyareflashing
1. Removethecover.
2. Powerupthedetector.
3. PressandholdtheP1buttonfor5secondsuntilalltheLEDsstartblinking.Whenthebuttonis
released,themenuwillhavethefirstoptionactive.
4. UsetheP1buttontomovetothedifferentoptionsonthemenu(see).TheLEDcombination(the
LEDswhichblink)identifiestheoptionconcerned.
5. BypressingtheP2buttonitispossibletoviewthecurrentsettingoftheparameterandwithsub-
sequentpressestheparametercanbechangeduntilthedesiredsettingisobtained.
6. ItispossibletochangethemenuoptionbypressingtheP1buttonagainuntilthedesiredparameter
isreached.
7. Toexitprogrammingwithoutsavingchanges,wait30secondswithoutpressinganybuttonordis-
connectthepowersupply.
Toexitprogrammingandconfirmallchanges,pressandholdtheP1buttonfor5seconds,untilthe
LEDsblinkquickly.
8. Closethecasingandcompletetheinstallationprocedure.
DefaultResetofprogrammingisachievedwiththedevicepoweredupandbyholdingdownbuttonsP1andP2sim-
ultaneouslyfor10seconds.
Thisleadstothesequentiallighting(oneevery2seconds)ofall4LEDs.WhenalltheLEDsareon,thebut-
tonscanbereleasedandinthiswayresetallprogrammingmenustofactorydatasettings.
