All safety and operating instructions should be read before the product is operated, followed the instructions,
and the manual retained for future reference
Check the working voltage of the unit
Please verify that the working voltage on the panel matches the local voltage before using the unit. All units
are shipped with the electric plug and voltage corresponding to the target market standard. If the voltage
marked on the rear panel is different from your locale standard, or the plug does not fit, please inform your
local distributor or QAT Audio Technology Ltd.
Do not disassemble the unit
Do not open the unit, for reducing the risk of electric shock.
The machine does not contain any user-serviceable parts (except the fuse). Please leave all maintenance
work to qualified technicians. Disconnect supply cord before changing fuse.
Circumstances when the unit should be powered off
Using the unit under such circumstance may cause fire. When the chassis is emitting smoke or strange
smells, please unplug the AC power immediately, pay attention not to get burned by overheated parts. Con-
tinuation of using the unit under such circumstances may cause fire. Turn off the unit during thunderstorms,
or when not using for long amounts of time.
Ensure ventilation
The vents on the chassis are to ensure ventilation to protect the unit against overheating. DO NOT BLOCK
OR COVER these openings, for instance the unit should not be situated on a bed, sofa, carpet or similar
surfaces, or placed into installations such as a bookcase that may impede the airflow through the ventilation
openings.
Avoid exposure of unit to liquids, moisture, foreign objects
Never slip any foreign objects through the openings into the unit, to avoid damage to the internal compo-
nents or causing a fire or electric shock. Keep the unit away from sources of water or moisture (.e.g. bath-
tub), and liquid filled containers such as bottles and glasses, and avoid any liquids to be spilled on or into the
unit. Do not use liquid detergents or aerosol cleaning agents. Please use only a dry cloth for cleaning the
unit.
Do not install close to sources of heat
Don’t place the unit close to radiators, stoves, or electric devices that generate lots of heat,
such as power amplifiers. Do not put any open flames such as candles on or near the unit.

1. General Description
1.1 Product Features
RS3 Music Server is a 1U rack unit, which can connect to your intelligent home control system.
It’s a high quality hi-fi music server that can play full bandwidth, CD quality audio from digital sources as
hard drives and USB external storage.

1.3 Product Overview
Front & Rear Panel：
* The Service port is only for after-sale-service, it is not a user-accessible feature.
Right Panel:
* The Fan activates automatically when reaching a certain temperature.
* When placed on a desk/free-standing, the fan is not needed for operation.
* Non-use of the fan for an extended period will shorten its life-span.
Mounting Flanges:
* Mounting Flanges are used to install the Music Server into a rack.

1.4 Hard Drive Installation
The front of the unit contains a latch that opens the HD Storage when slid to the right side.
* Slide the latch to the right side, and then open the HD Storage.
* Support of 2.5 inch HDD, SSD hard disk; Max capacity is 2TB.
* Please do not remove Hard Disk while playing music.

Power on: Press the Power Switch at the back of the unit, the LED indicator will turn blue.
Power off: Press the Standby Switch button on the front panel and wait until the LED indicator
turned off, then press the Power Switch off.
Standby: Press the Standby Switch, when the LED indicator turned off the system will go to
Standby mode. You can press it again to restart the system.
* The QAT app also contains the function to switch off the unit remotely.
* When the LED indicator is blinking means system is upgrading.
* Please DO NOT press the Power Switch off when the indicator is flickering or blue, or it
will cause damage to the system .

3. Getting started
3.1 Operate by Central Control Software
Connect RS232 plug from the Central Control Equipment to the RS3 rear panel, then operate
RS3 by Central Control Software.

Step 1. Open the settings menu on your device (iPad / Android Pad), select WLAN settings,
and then connect to your Music Server’s SSID.
Step 2. Enter the initial password “qatqatqat”. Wait until it’s connected, then return to the
home screen and tap the QAT app.
You should now be connected to your Music Server and can change the password of your
SSID to a secure password of your liking, which can be done easily with the QAT remote con-
trol app.

3.2 QAT wireless client operation (QAT app)
Before starting, please make sure you've downloaded the latest version of our "QAT"
remote control app and also that the Music Server is switched on.
Insert USB Wireless Adapter to any rear panel USB port of the Music Server, which allows
using our QAT app on the iPad or on Android devices to control the Music Server.

5. Maintenance and Service
QAT RS3 doesn’t require regular maintenance in normal use. However, there are a few things that will
help to keep it in good operating and cosmetic condition.
* Cleaning
Clean the casing only with a soft, dry cloth; avoid using any domestic cleaning products, do not
spray any cleaning products into the HD slot or the ventilation openings.
* Extended Non-use Periods
Disconnect RS3 from power supply when unused for a long time.
6. After-sale Service
QAT RS3 Music Server comes with a 2-Year limited warranty.
QAT products are identified by a unique serial n°(S/N) located at the back of the unit. This number
is required to register your product and validate your warranty. Please refer your serial number
when requiring service.
Warranty coverage exceptions:
* Damages due to operator’s misuse including water damages, moisture damages, and other physical
damages and modifications are not covered by the warranty policy.
* Damages due to any unauthorized disassembling, repairing or modifications are not covered by the
warranty policy.
4. Unpacking:
Please check that the following items are in the box:

1 x Power cable
1 x USB Wi-Fi Adaptor
* Carefully unpack each part, if there is any damage, or missing parts, please inform your
dealer immediately.
* Please retain the original shipping carton and all packing materials as they are specially
designed to protect the unit during transportation.
