Descaling
You will need:
about 45 minutes
2 Qbo descaling tablets
1 container (at least 1000 ml)
fresh, cold water
the MILK MA TER (if you have one)
descale your YOU-RI TA about once or twice a year

DESCALING
Why do I need to descale my machine?
Limescale deposits build up inside the machine during normal use,
which need to be removed regularly.
The Qbo descaling tablets
remove these limescale deposits.
Doing so will prolong the service
life of your machine, save energy and maintain a constant coffee
brewing temperature.
When should I descale my machine?
After about 40-60 liters, depending on how often you use your Qbo
machine and the water hardness selected in your machine’s set-
tings. You can find out the “Descaling status” of the machine in the
maintenance menu:
Press the maintenance menu
button (1.).
elect the menu option
Descaling (2.).
From here you can start the
descaling process manually.
However, this is generally not
necessary as the machine will
automatically notify you in the
display when it needs to be
descaled.
Read the safety warnings carefully before using and
only use the product as described in these instruc-
tions to avoid accidental injury or damage.
WARNING — danger to health due to descaling
tablets
Take care not to interrupt the descaling process,
as otherwise residue from the descaling tablets may
stay in the machine. If the descaling process is inter-
rupted for whatever reason, the machine must be
thoroughly rinsed before being used again in order to
avoid health risks. Follow the instructions as dis-
played to do so. The machine will not be able to brew
coffee again until the process is completed.
CAU ION — damage to the machine due to limescale deposits
• Descale your machine as soon as a notification to do so is dis-
played. This prolongs its service life and saves energy.
• Use only original Qbo descaling tablets. Other products could
potentially damage the materials in the machine and/or have
no effect.

The maintenance menu button will also light up red.
If you do not start descaling then, the machine will remind you to do
so each time it is switched on.
The longer you wait to descale, the more insistent the
notifications will become.
Descaling required =
Descale the machine within
the next few days.
Descaling urgent =
The machine should be descaled
immediately. Further use of the
machine could damage it if not
descaled.
• Have the Qbo App remind you to descale – activate the
App’s push notification.
• If the water tank is not filled up to the max. mark, you may
have to refill it during the descaling process. Follow the
instructions as displayed.
• The drip tray needs to be emptied before starting the
descaling process. If the drip tray fills up, you will have to
empty it again during the descaling process. Follow the
instructions as displayed.
• If the container does not have a capacity of at least
1 liter, this will also have to be emptied during the
descaling process.
• The Qbo descaling tablets are phosphate-free.

Press the maintenance menu
button (lit up red).
elect the menu option
Descaling (1.).
Press the dial (2.) to select
Start descaling.
Place two Qbo descaling
tablets in the empty water
tank.
Fill the water tank with fresh,
clear tap water up
to the max. mark.

lide the water tank back into
the machine as far as
it will go.
If you have the MILK MAS ER,
proceed with step 6.
If you DO NO have the MILK
MAS ER, proceed with step 7.
If you are using the MILK
MA TER with your Qbo machine,
connect it now:
Fold up the panel for the MILK
MA TER connection socket as
far as it will go and hold it
there.
Insert the MILK MA TER into
the connection socket as illus-
trated as far as it will go. You
should hear and feel the panel
click into place in the MILK
MA TER.
The MILK MA TER must
be pushed in all the way.
Only then will the machine
automatically proceed to
the next step.
If you would prefer not to
descale the MILK MA TER (not
recommended), press the dial
to select Skip.
Place a large container (min. 1
liter) under the coffee spout.
Please note that the descaling
process cannot be interrupted!

Press the dial to start the
descaling process.
The machine pumps a small
amount of water through the
system. Then it takes about a
5-minute pause, which gives
the Qbo descaling tablets time
to dissolve.
The machine will then pump the
descaling solution through the
system multiple times in 2-minute
intervals.
The descaling process will be
followed by a rinsing phase. This
will rinse all remaining residue
from the descaling tablets out of
the system.
For the rinsing phase:
Remove the MILK MA TER
if you have connected it.
Empty the container.
Empty the water tank and
wash it in warm water with a
mild washing-up liquid. Then
rinse it out with clear water.
Next, fill the water tank with
fresh, clear tap water up to the
max. mark.

If you are using the MILK
MA TER, reconnect it now.
Place a large container (min.
1 liter) under the coffee spout.
Please note that the descaling
process cannot be interrupted!
Press the dial to start the
rinsing cycle.

As soon as “Descaling
completed” is displayed, the
descaling process is finished.
The red maintenance menu
button goes out.
To return to the drinks menu,
press the dial or wait about 3
seconds.
