General Description
The compact QM600AS is a powered sub
bass system powered by a mono internal
amplier and controlled from a master
input section containing a stereo electronic
cross-over. The input section controls
consist of an adjustable sub bass crossover
controlling the sub amplier, and a line
through/switch preset cross-over output for
powered satellite boxes or extra powered sub
boxes.
Flexible Operation
The QM 600AS can be used as a multiple
subwoofer block or as a sub bass for individual
powered speakers. Alternatively, it can be used
as a single mono subwoofer supporting a small
powered system.
The bass crossover frequency is sweep-able
from 90 to 200Hz and can be tuned by the user
to achieve the desired bass sound. The line
through/x-over XLR outputs are intended to
supply line level signal to additional powered bass
systems or can be used as a crossover network to
feed powered speakers at two alternative high pass
cross-over frequencies.
Features
Balanced input L&R
The QM600AS features electronically balanced
inputs for the connection of line level signal
sources such as mixers, system controllers or other
powered speakers. Input connection is via 1/4”
phone or XLR-male connectors. A balanced XLR
connection is recommended to minimize noise
and\or interference.
The input section of the QM600AS also allows for
stereo and mono sub operation. The stereo signal
is fed to the L and R inputs and the low-frequency
signals of both channels are summed by the
electronic cross-over prior to being processed by
the sub power amplier section.
For detailed connection options, see the section
“setup examples”.
CAUTION
Before connecting or disconnecting
any connections including power,
make sure to set the master level
control to counter clockwise o. This
will prevent unexpected and possibly
damaging noises from the system.

If the Cross-over low cut switch is set to full range,
the male XLR outputs will act as a line through
connection. If the 80-125 Hz setting is selected,
high-frequency signals above the cross-over
frequency will be available from these outputs
for further distribution to external power amps or
active mid-high range cabinets.
Status Indicators
These indicators provide information about the
actual operational state of the QM600AS internal
power amplier.
Signal
Indicates that an audio signal is present at the
input.
Clip
When lit, this indicator signals
that the internal power
amplier is actually operated
at the borders of clipping. Short-term ashes are
indicating that maximum power has been reached.
The amplier’s audio limiter keeps severe distortion
from occurring. If you are seeing extended time
periods of red ashing or the red warning light
is staying on for more than 1/4 second, you
need more sub bass boxes. Running a sub bass
for extended periods of clipping will result in
expensive repair bills. Protection limiters are no
substitute for common sense.
Master Volume
This control sets the output volume
of the QM 600AS internal power
amplier.
Cross-Over Low Cut Switch
The male XLR outputs can be full
range through from the F/male
XLR inputs or a line level cross-over
output depending on the setting of
the Cross-Over Out Low Cut switch.
Selecting 80 or 125 Hz will remove the
low bass frequencies from the line level
output. These settings are intended for removing
low frequencies from small powered speakers
with limited power output. The choice of setting
will depend on the power capacity and size of the
powered satellite speaker.
If the powered speaker is clipping or appearing to
distort at higher levels, try switching the 80Hz lter
to 125 Hz to lower the power sapping bass from
the satellite speaker woofer.
Sub HF Cross-Over Frequency
The bass crossover frequency
is sweep-able from 90 to 200Hz
and can be tuned by the user to
suit the individual bass sound
needed. It is recommended
that setting this control at or
below 100Hz will deliver the best low sub bass
sound for live performances. The higher settings
will deliver a ‘boomy’ bass desirable in some
electronic genres.
Polarity Normal and Rev Switch
The phase polarity can be switched 180° to suit
alternative loudspeaker brands as required. When
connecting a group of sub bass
speakers, please ensure they all
have the same polarity setting
or loss of bass response will occur.
Mid-High/Parallel Outputs L/R
The signal from L&R inputs is processed through
an integrated electronic cross-over. Low-frequency
signals are routed to the internal power amplier of
the QM 600AS.

Setup Options
The QM 600AS is a very versatile sub bass system
as part of a mobile powered system or as extra
sub bass enhancement for an amplied multi-way
installed audio system.
Cross-Over Settings for Best
Results
The common setup conguration for most
powered speakers when operated with sub
bass boxes is as follows:
The cross-over out low cut switch selects the
high pass cross-over frequency for male XLR
line level output signal. It can be switched to
full range output or 80 – 125 Hz. For output
to powered speakers it would be common to
select 80Hz. If the powered speakers are low
powered or less than 12” woofers, it would be
common to select 125 Hz.
For connection to another powered sub bass,
select full range.
