PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
The Concourse QSUB is a high-performance compact subwoofer
system designed to augment the bass response of any QUAD
Industrial Q Series, C Series or R Series system. Built around an
acoustically inert MDF enclosure, the QSUB delivers frequency
response down to 35Hz. Built around a genuine QUAD long-
throw woofer with integral passive crossover, the QSUB integrates
easily into any audio system.
CONCOURSE QSUB
Compact dual voice-coil subwoofer designed for corner installa-
tion. Features a heavy duty 10" woofer designed specifically for
subwoofer operation and includes an internal crossover with fil-
tered high-pass outputs to feed full range speakers. The enclosure
offers 12 threaded inserts for rigging applications. A steel mount-
ing bracket and hardware are included. Available only in black:
• Concourse QSUB – Black, Dual 125 Watt 8Ω
voice coils
• Concourse QSUB-W – White, Dual 125 Watt 8Ω
voice coils
PRODUCT FEATURES
The Concourse QSUB enclosure is designed for installation in a
corner, where the boundary effect of the mounting surfaces will
serve to enhance the speaker’s output level. The speaker is sup-
plied with a unique corner-mount bracket which permits close
installation into a corner between two wall surfaces or between a
wall and ceiling surface. In addition, to facilitate other mounting
needs, the QSUB is fitted with 12 M8 threaded inserts.
The QSUB features a genuine QUAD long-throw 10" woofer
designed specifically for this application. This unique driver is
equipped with two 8Ωvoice coils that can be connected to the
Threaded Rigging Points
The Q SUB is supplied with a unique
corner-mount bracket which permits
close installation into a corner between
two wall surfaces
L and R channels of a power amplifier for true stereo subwoofer
operation. For mono applications the voice coils can be paralleled
to present a 4Ωimpedance.

4
The QSUB includes an internal passive crossover allowing for
direct connection to a full range amplifier. The crossover filters
signals sent to the subwoofer to below 150Hz, ensuring maximum
impact with minimal distortion. The crossover also offers high pass
filtered outputs that may be connected directly to low-impedance
full range speakers. This permits the creation of very cost-effective
subwoofer satellite systems.
Wiring connections are made via two terminal strips located on
the rear of the cabinet. Terminals are provided for the connection
of two amplifiers channels (L / R) for stereo operation. In addi-
tion, two high-pass outputs are provided to feed satellite speakers.
A detachable front grille conceals the driver and is secured with
screws on either side of the enclosure.
INSTALLATION
There are several different installation options available for the
QSUB subwoofer. Please review all of the installation options to
determine the one best suited to the site conditions and perfor-
mance objectives.
Step 1
Identify the location where the speaker will be installed and de-
termine if the wall or ceiling has the structural integrity to support
the speaker. If unsure, consult with a qualified rigger or structural
engineer before installation.
Step 2
Install the bracket to wall using suitable fasteners. The accompany-
ing illustration (right) shows the bracket mounted vertically in a
corner between two walls. This is the preferred mounting method
for the QSUB. Alternately the bracket may be turned on its side
and mounted in the corner between the ceiling and the wall. It is
not recommended to use this bracket when it is connected to only
one surface.
(Another installation option is to suspend the QSUB in free space
by rigging to the threaded mounting points. There are 12 threaded
mounting points in total, with three each on the top and bottom of
the enclosure, two on either side and two on the rear. Rigging must
only be undertaken by certified professionals using proper materi-
als and techniques. All installations must use a minimum of three
points when the speaker is rigged.)

5
Step 3
Remove the two screws on the top and bottom of the cabinet at
the rear.
Step 4
Place the speaker in close proximity to the bracket and terminate
the wiring. Do this before installing the speaker to ensure access to
the rear panel.
Step 5
Lift the QSUB into the bracket, and insert the rubber friction
washers between the cabinet and the bracket, then install the
supplied screws and lock washers. Tighten firmly, taking care not
to overtighten.
Step 6
Ensure that seismic restraint cable is firmly attached to both the
loudspeaker and a suitable anchor point on the building structure.
CONNECTIONS
The Concourse QSUB is fitted with a unique dual voice-coil driver
and a dual-channel passive crossover. This permits the subwoofer
to be connected to both channels of a stereo amplification system,
ensuring that Low Frequency signals from both channels are repro-
duced without the need for a second subwoofer.
Before beginning the installation you must first calculate the power
required to drive the QSUB and any connected satellite speakers.
The QSUB voice coils are each rated at 125 watts at 8Ω; requir-
ing an amplifier rated from 100 watts to 300 watts per channel.
Add to this requirement the nominal power that will be required to
drive the satellite speakers. Determine the length of cable that will
be used to connect the QSUB to the power amplifier.

Stereo Plus Satellites
Connect the QSUB to the power amplifier using two 2-conductor cables, observing the polarity markings on both the speaker and the
power amplifier. Terminate the cables to the Full Range Input terminal block ensuring that the wires are clamped firmly and that there are
no stray wire strands that might cause a short circuit.
Connect the satellite speakers to the High Pass Output terminal block observing polarity markings. Ensure that the correct speaker is
wired to the Left and Right outputs.

Mono Subwoofer Plus Satellites
It is not necessary to drive the QSUB with two separate amplifier channels if the system is reproducing a mono signal. For mono applica-
tions simply connect one amplifier channel to both Left and Right Full Range Input terminals in parallel. Note that this method places the
two 8Ωvoice coils in parallel, resulting in a net system impedance of 4Ω. Ensure that the connected amplifier is rated for a 4Ωload.

8
Subwoofer Only Applications
The QSUB may be used as an add-on subwoofer with a variety of systems, even without satellite speakers connected. Typically in
70/100V applications, the full range speakers are driven by a constant-voltage amplifier, while the QSUB is driven by a separate
amplifier. No external electronic crossover is required, permitting the use of nearly any suitable power amplifier.
COMPLIANCE
This product is in compliance with CE directives and bears the CE mark. For detailed information on specific directives please contact
your local QUAD Industrial sales office or distributor.
