1. OVERVIEW
Note. The load weighing functionality shall not be used for commercial transactions.
Q-companion is a driver support system for front loaders that helps to increase your efficiency. It features load weighing,
implement position monitoring and maintenance reminders. Q-companion BT also comes with a mobile app and web interface
for easy documentation. Download the Q-companion app free-of-charge to your mobile phone and use Bluetooth to transfer
your work results into the cloud. Q-companion can weigh the load as you lift it with the loader. The weight of the lift as well
as the accumulated results will be shown on the screen. Here you will also see the height and position of the implement, which
is useful in case you cannot see it yourself. Based on your usage of the loader, Q-companion will remind you to perform
maintenance so that your loader is kept in good condition. Taking the Q-companion system into use is straightforward.
Calibration is performed once per implement that you will use. The calibrations are stored in memory and are easily activated
when you switch implement on the loader.
Warning!
Q-Companion is an information system, NOT
a safety system. This system is designed to be a
supplementary aid when controlling the loader. It
is not, however, intended to replace the operator's
attention and judgement.
1.1. Display description
The Q-Companion is operated via the display unit. There are 4 buttons (A, B, C and D) on the display that are used for
navigation and operating functions.
When you power up Q-companion, you will be reminded of the Q-companion mobile app that is available free of charge for
iOS and Android. This startup screen will no longer appear after you have paired the Q-companion display with a mobile
phone over Bluetooth, or until the screen has been shown a certain number of times.

1.3. Weighing view
In the Weighing view you can perform load weighing. To be able to enter the Weighing view, the selected implement has to be
calibrated for load weighing, see 2.2.6. Calibrate load weighing, as well as having its level position set, see 2.2.5. Calibrate
level position.
The weight of the load is estimated by continuously measuring the hydraulic pressure in the cylinders while inside the
weighing range during a lift cycle.
Each weighing calibration consists of two reference lifts, one with a known reference weight and the other with the implement
empty. By using two lifts, the weight can be estimated by interpolating between the two reference lifts.

2.2. Implement configuration
Some configurations are specific to the active implement. Each implement needs to be calibrated, because the weight, geometry
and level position of implements vary. Also the weight lifted with different implements can vary. By having you calibrate each
implement separately, the accuracy of results produced by Q-companion is improved.
Configuration of implements is done in the Implements view. From that menu you can:
- Add an implement
- Select an implement
- Configure an implements level position
- Calibrate implement for load weighing
- Rename implement
- Delete an implement

2.2.2. Select implement
Active implement is changed in the Implement view.
When working with Q-companion, it is important to switch the active implement (in the display) when you are changing the
implement fitted on the front loader. Selecting the implement in the display activates the correct calibrations, allowing the
implement position view and weighing view to show correct information.

2.2.5. Calibrate level position
The Position view and the Weighing view are depending on a correctly calibrated implement, with regards to its calibrated level
position.
To use the implement position monitoring function in the Position view and Weighing view, it is necessary to calibrate the level
position of the implement.
The level position for an implement is calibrated in the Implement view, by selecting the desired implement and then Calibrate
level position.

2.2.6. Calibrate load weighing
To use the load weighing function, it is necessary to do a weighing calibration with the selected implement. The calibration
procedure is done by performing two calibration lifts. The first lift is done with a known weight in the implement and the
second lift is done with the implement empty.
Each implement used for weighing must be separately calibrated. The calibrations are stored in permanent memory.
For best accuracy, perform the calibration lifts in a similar manner as you will later work with the loader. Also consider the
following circumstances which may affect accuracy:
•Operating temperature
- Always allow the machine and
the hydraulics to warm up to the
normal operating temperature
before commencing load weighing.
•Weighing on level ground
- The tractor angle will affect the
center of gravity, hence also the
load weighing result. To achieve
the best accuracy, perform the load
weighing on level ground.
•Vehicle movement
- Weighing while the vehicle is
moving on uneven ground may
affect accuracy negatively.
•Loader arm motion
-Always use full deflection on
joystick when weighing and
make sure the lifting motion is
smooth, to avoid oscillations in the
measured pressures.
- For best accuracy, the same
engine speed should be used for
the calibration- and the actual
load weighing lifts.
•Implement angle
- It is important that the same
implement angle is used for both
the calibration lifts, as well as the
actual load weighing lifts.
The implement is calibrated for load weighing in the Implement view, by selecting the desired implement, Weighing
calibrations and then New calibration. You are guided through the calibration process. A new load weighing calibration will be
created for the selected implement.
For best accuracy, it is recommended that the known weight is equivalent to, or heavier than, the typical load that will be
weighed later.
An alternative is to use a known weight of >50% of the maximum capacity of the implement.
The minimum allowable known weight is 300 kg.
If the intent of a specific implement is to weigh the same kind of loads, with approximately the same weight, the accuracy may
increase if the known load, used during calibration, weighs as the intended loads.
Tip! If the same implement is used together with different materials, which require different handling, you can create separate
weighing calibrations for that implement.
